Jasper Jones author Craig Silvey pleads guilty to child exploitation material charges

Australian author Craig Silvey, best known for his award-winning book Jasper Jones, has pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing child exploitation material.
Silvey, 43, was first charged in January after police raided his home and seized electronic devices, which resulted in some bookstores immediately pulling his work from shelves.
Appearing in Fremantle Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning, the father-of-three pleaded guilty to the two charges, stemming from offences in January.

Chalmers: “What we saw in the month of March was overwhelmingly a story of higher petrol prices before our fuel tax cut kicked in…Higher petrol prices are all about the war in the Middle East. I think any objective observer would conclude that now, when it comes to decisions taken in Washington, DC, or indeed in Tehran, Australians are hostage to those decisions taken about the conduct of this war and the end of this war.”
