Sam Kerr set to join Gotham FC after leaving Chelsea

Sam Kerr is set to sign for NWSL side Gotham FC on a free transfer following the expiry of her contract with Chelsea.
The 32-year-old Australia striker announced her exit from the eight-time Women’s Super League champions in May, ending a six-and-a-half-year stay that featured five WSL titles, three FA Cups, three League Cups and 116 goals in 158 appearances, the joint-most in the club’s history.
The Athletic reported in March that Kerr was expected to leave in the summer, with strong interest from multiple NWSL clubs.

According to multiple reports, the Matildas and former Chelsea striker is set to reunite with her former NWSL club this summer.
After Sam Kerr scored a hat trick in her first game against her former team Sky Blue FC, she wasn’t in a particularly celebratory mood. “If I’m honest, I didn’t enjoy it,” Kerr commented after the match. “Iwish things were better here, and that I could stay. It just sucks that that’s the way it had to be.”
Eight years later, The Athletic first reported with ESPN confirming, that the striker is set to return to that very same team where she still holds the club’s all-time scoring record. Kerr will be joining Gotham FC as a free agent following the conclusion of her contract with English side Chelsea FC this summer.
