What might be different about the work that she would do now?”

But it was her glam that pushed her transformation over the edge. Indeed, her Old Hollywood hair was paired with rosy pink lipstick, long lashes and Monroe’s signature beauty mark above her lip.

A west Victorian stock agent is selling his four-wheel-drive vehicle after driving it for 1 million kilometres.

The owner says the vehicle has been serviced almost 100 times and is in good condition.

Bidding opens on Monday morning and will continue for two weeks.

After clocking 1 million kilometres in his four-wheel-drive vehicle, a west Victorian stock agent has listed his prized possession for sale.

Nhill resident Gary Driscoll averaged more than 180km a day in his 2009 Toyota LandCruiser, driving to properties across the west of the state.

The vehicle goes up for sale on Monday morning, with an online auction to run for two weeks.

Million-Kilometre LandCruiser Listed for Online Auction

According to ABC News, west Victorian stock agent Gary Driscoll has listed his 2009 Toyota LandCruiser for sale after travelling almost 1 million kilometres. The Nhill resident averaged more than 180 kilometres a day while driving to properties across western Victoria.

The vehicle’s digital odometer reads 999,999km and the LandCruiser is parked in Nhill. Mr Driscoll has chosen not to drive the remaining roughly 300 metres to the 1 million-kilometre mark, saying he wants the buyer to have that privilege. He said he did not know whether the odometer would return to zero or remain on all nines after reaching the milestone.

Online bidding opens on Monday morning and will run for two weeks. Mr Driscoll said he could not put a firm value on the vehicle, adding that its price would be determined by buyers. He said he thought it should make more than $30,000, while noting that “the value will be in the eyes of the beholder”.

Bird flu mass mortality points to 'significant losses' for wildlife

Testing has confirmed the first mass mortality from H5 bird flu in Australian wildlife on an island off South Australia's south-east coast.

Agriculture Minister Julie Collins says Australians can expect to see greater disease spread, with larger numbers of wildlife impacted.

The first mass mortality of Australian wildlife from the deadly H5 bird flu has been confirmed in greater crested terns found on an island off South Australia's south-east coast.

It follows testing of samples from dead and sick birds detected by aerial surveillance on an island called Baudin Rocks, about 5 kilometres south of Cape Jaffa in South Australia, on Friday.

‘Just the beginning’: First mass deaths from H5N1 bird flu confirmed

Bird flu has become established on the Australian mainland, with the federal government confirming that dozens of greater crested terns at Boudin Rocks off Cape Jaffa in South Australia have tested positive for the H5NI, which has killed more than 300 million animals around the world.

A seagull collected in Robe, South Australia, has also tested positive to the disease.

“Sadly, we do know that once the H5 bird flu is spreading in wildlife, and the natural environment, it is not possible to avoid significant losses – which is what we are starting to see now,” said Agriculture Minister Julie Collins during a press conference on Monday, adding authorities would continue to monitor the spread of the virus through Australian wildlife.

Brian is turning some visitors away from his farm — and he's not the only one

For 60 years, Brian Ahmed has farmed the same stretch of land in Melbourne's east. These days, getting past the farm's gate isn't easy — his birds need all the protection they can get.

"At the moment, because of all the concerns with Avian influenza … I'd say all farms now have increased their biosecurity levels," he told SBS News.

"The less people we have on our farms, the less chance of anything coming on.

"Our number one priority is to protect our birds, and the best way we can do that is to make sure they don't mix with anyone that they don't need to."

Australians dreaming of a Bali holiday can snap up return flights from $429 after Virgin launched a new international sale for one of our most popular overseas destinations.

Virgin Australia announced the sale on Monday, offering discounted flights from five Australian cities starting August 7.

Sydney fuel prices spike as excise discount ends

Fuel prices have tipped over $2 a litre in NSW hours after the Albanese government’s fuel excise discount came to an end, triggering fresh warnings of more increases as the prolonged conflict in the Middle East threatens global oil supply.

The average price for regular unleaded passed the $2 mark on Monday morning after the fuel excise discount – delivering an approximate 17¢ saving – was withdrawn at midnight. The average national price for unleaded also rose above $2, the first time since May, according to Fuel Check.

Prices on Monday morning were 13¢ higher than what was recorded in Sydney last week. Sydney petrol prices rose by an average of 2.9¢ a litre overnight, according to the NRMA, less than the 3.2¢ recorded nationally.

Petrol prices jump 16 cents per litre as fuel excise cut ends

The fuel excise cut is no more. The tax cut aimed at lowering petrol prices in the early stages of the US-Iran War has now been removed, adding 16 cents per litre to the price of fuel.

The excise cut started at 32 cents in March, and fell to 16 cents in July. Now that the excise cut is gone, retailers will increase prices by at least 16 cents per litre in the coming days.

Unleaded fuel prices could rise to around $2.20 per litre, and prices may rise even further if tensions between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran continue to mount.

Red Sox should give Reds an offer they can't refuse after Hunter Greene trade update

At the beginning of the season, it was hard to imagine the Boston Red Sox needing starting pitching depth at the trade deadline, but their rotation has been through the wringer this season. What's behind the move: The e-commerce and cloud giant topped second quarter expectations as accelerating cloud growth at Amazon Web Services (AWS) helped drive strong results. Amazon also said its AI and custom chip businesses have each surpassed a $25 billion annualized revenue run rate.

AWS generated $42.2 billion in second quarter revenue, up 36.7% year over year, fueled by strength across both its core cloud business and AI services.

"We added over $4.6 billion in revenue quarter over quarter — about 80% more than our largest increase ever. Our backlog stands at $496 billion, growing triple digits year over year," Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said during the company's earnings call.

Jeff Bezos on Friday became the world’s third-richest person once again, reclaiming the ranking from Google co-founder Sergey Brin as Amazon’s stock accelerated at its fastest pace in four years, following a hotter-than-expected earnings report.

Shares of Amazon surged about 14% shortly after trading opened on Friday, pacing the stock’s largest single-day gain since April 24, 2015 (14.1%).

That burst followed Amazon’s quarterly earnings on Thursday, in which the firm reported $206.6 billion in revenue boosted by a 37% year-over-year surge in cloud sales to $42.2 billion, exceeding Wall Street’s estimates of $197 billion and $40.5 billion, respectively, according to FactSet.

Amazon even raised its spending forecast this year to $220 billion, up from $200 billion, as CEO Andy Jassy said a majority of Amazon’s capital expenditures would go toward matching demand for AI, noting the firm was “unusually well-positioned for this AI inflection.”

Amazon's AWS posts fastest growth since 2021, citing AI and chip demand

Amazon's cloud segment grew faster than analysts had predicted in the second quarter, with revenue increasing almost 37%, marking the strongest expansion since 2021.

The digital commerce company said in a Thursday statement that Amazon Web Services (AWS) generated $42.23 billion in revenue during the June quarter. Analysts surveyed by StreetAccount had been looking for $40.54 billion. The growth rate accelerated from 28% in the first quarter.

AWS' artificial intelligence business and the unit's chips each brought in over $25 billion in annualized revenue, more than doubling from last year.

Amazon remains a larger force in cloud computing than any other company. Microsoft said Wednesday that revenue from Azure and other cloud services were growing 43%, compared with 40% in the March quarter. The Windows company touted over $100 billion in revenue from Azure and other cloud services over the past 12 months. The equivalent figure for Amazon is $148.40 billion.
