Sir David Beckham consoled by Victoria after heartbreaking World Cup defeat

As the final whistle blew in Atlanta, Sir David Beckham cut a dejected figure in the stands – comforted by his wife Victoria while appearing to shed a tear as England slid to a 2-1 loss to Argentina.

His nation's one-time captain remains one of the best known figures in world football, and has been ever-present throughout England's run to the semi-finals.

Throughout the tournament, goals scored by England have often been followed by fast cutaway shots to the Beckhams, with Sir David celebrating wildly, surrounded by his family.

Rapturous celebrations followed England's first goal, with Victoria seen leaping into the air and hugging her husband.

David Beckham reflects on 'heartbreak' after family World Cup outing

Win or lose, it's how you play the game. And David Beckham couldn't be prouder of his home team.

The British soccer icon shared his emotional reaction to England's defeat in the World Cup semifinals in an Instagram post Wednesday, July 15. Beckham, 51, attended the much-anticipated match between England and Argentina in Atlanta alongside longtime wife Victoria Beckham and three of their children, Cruz, Romeo and Harper Beckham.

Sydney Airport Fast Track: Would you pay $20 to skip the airport security line?

Although it marks the official start of going on a holiday, for many, an airport is considered a relatively stressful place.

So if there was an option to pay a small fee to help minimise some of that stress – would you be interested?

Sydney Airport is offering a $20 Fast Track access pass through security. iStock

That’s what Sydney Airport is banking on by announcing a new Fast Track security access pass that will cost travellers $20.

Business and First class flyers already have access to the Priority Security lane at Sydney International Airport, which allows them to skip the general queue.

All Aussies get $20 airport perk once reserved for first and business class

Everyone plans to arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare before a flight.

But travel has a funny way of throwing unexpected delays into the mix.

And sometimes, what was meant to be a stress-free departure quickly unravels into a mad rush.

Now, for $20, passengers can jump the queue to ensure they take off on time at Sydney Airport, a perk once reserved for business and first class passengers.

Announced this week, the new Fast Track service aims to give travellers greater "control" over their airport journey, and it can be purchased in advance.

"Fast Track is a service that gives customers priority access at the main security screening point at Sydney Airport's T1 departures," the airport states.

SBS acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country and their connections and continuous care for the skies, lands and waterways throughout Australia.

Sixteen Australians have lost more than $2.7 million combined in the past two weeks amid a surge in reports of "pump and dump" scams using impersonations of prominent financial experts to lure victims.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is warning Australians to be extremely cautious of investment tips received through social media and messaging apps such as WhatsApp.

ASIC has received multiple reports of scammers exploiting the identities and likenesses of respected finance industry figures and celebrities to draw people into messaging groups, where they are then provided with stock tips and encouraged to invest.

Major blow for Kevin Walters as Kangaroos star reportedly decides not to play World Cup

Kevin Walters will likely have to find a new winger for the Kangaroos' World Cup campaign with Mark Nawaqanitawase reportedly opting out. Nawaqanitawase is heading back to rugby at season's end in a bid to play for the Wallabies at the World Cup in 2027.

A tug-of-war had erupted over his services, with the Kangaroos keen for him to play the rugby league World Cup in October and November. But Rugby Australia wanted him to play for the Wallabies on the Spring tour of Europe at the same time.

However reports have emerged that the Roosters winger won't do either and will instead head to pre-season training with Saitama Wild Knights in Japan. According to The Daily Telegraph, the Wild Knights want Nawaqanitawase to arrive on November 1 ahead of trial matches in mid-November and the start of the season in December.

Gale tight-lipped on player signings as clock ticks on Devils' coach hunt

Tasmania CEO declines to comment on club's offers to rival players, with 10 weeks left in coach timeline

TASMANIA chief executive Brendon Gale has reiterated the club hopes to make an appointment for its inaugural senior coaching position within the next 10 weeks, but has remained tight-lipped on potential rival signings.

It was revealed on AFL.com.au's trade and draft show Gettable this week that the industry's belief is that the Devils already have two agreements with rival players as they scour the market for established senior talent.

Tasmania has publicly confirmed that it has met with multiple rival players, while the incoming expansion club has also started the process of tabling lucrative offers using its war chest of list mechanisms. However, quizzed on whether anyone had yet accepted such an offer on Friday, Gale let his silence do the talking.

Tasmania Devils make call on former Essendon coach

Tasmania is unlikely to welcome former Essendon coach Brad Scott to its headquarters.

The Devils met with Scott in recent weeks, sounding him out for the role of their inaugural football boss.

Tasmania coaching selection committee member Alastair Lynch, who shared premiership success at Brisbane with Scott, said the "timing" wouldn't be right, despite the former Bombers coach being well equipped for the role.

“If we could get Brad, and if Brad was keen to do it, he'd be one of those people that would be very well suited. He's got an enormous amount of experience with the AFL and at clubland.

She said she almost collapsed from shock when she read the Family Court orders giving John full custody, despite serious domestic violence allegations against him and her being the children's primary carer since birth.

NT child protection bill opponents show 'moral bankruptcy', MLA says

Clinton Howe says the NT government's bill will make children safer. (ABC News: Dane Hirst)

Country Liberal Party (CLP) politician Clinton Howe says some organisations opposing the government's child protection bill have shown "a degree of moral bankruptcy".

A former residential care youth worker, Mr Howe claims the safety of children has "been lost from the centre" of the debate.

The CLP government says its bill will make the safety of children the paramount consideration and will return to parliament next week for debate.

A member of the NT Legislative Scrutiny Committee claims opponents of the government's child protection reforms are putting the pride of adults before the safety of children, ahead of the bill returning to parliament next week.

'Time to really crack the whip' in Belgium – Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari have steadily closed the gap to Mercedes and Kimi Antonelli over the last few rounds.

Lewis Hamilton believes "it's time to really crack the whip", as the Ferrari driver looks to further close the gap to Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli at the Belgian Grand Prix.

The seven-time World Champion enters this weekend just 32 points behind Antonelli in the Drivers' standings, and seven adrift of George Russell in P2, while Mercedes only lead Ferrari by 78 points in the Teams' Championship.

Hamilton and Ferrari have been able to close the gap over the last few weekends, which have yielded four podiums from the last five races, including Hamilton's first Grand Prix victory for the Scuderia in Barcelona.

Lewis Hamilton: Ferrari driver says Mercedes duo Kimi Antonelli and George Russell 'should be a lot further ahead' in title battle

Lewis Hamilton is just 32 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli; the seven-time champion has stayed in striking distance despite Ferrari rarely matching Mercedes' pace; watch Friday's practice sessions for the Belgian GP at 12.30pm and 4pm, live on Sky Sports F1

Lewis Hamilton says Mercedes pair Kimi Antonelli and George Russell "should be a lot further ahead" of him than they are in the Drivers' Championship.

Antonelli leads Russell by 25 points at the top of the standings with Ferrari's Hamilton just seven points further back than his former team-mate.

Mercedes have clearly had the fastest car for much of the season but have been hit by reliability issues, which along with a few other factors have allowed Hamilton to remain in striking distance as the season approaches its halfway stage.

Health Minister Mark Butler has defended the prime minister's decision to break a promise and not to attend the Garma Festival this weekend.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese promised last year to attend every Garma Festival as prime minister.

But speaking to Channel Seven, Butler says he's gone to the festival more than any other leader of a political party.

"He's been there every year since he became leader. He's off to the Northern Territory again in coming days to visit another festival," he says.

‘She’s the future’: Hanson reveals daughter could lead One Nation

London: One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has named her daughter as a potential leader of the party during a controversial podcast with right-wing activist Tommy Robinson over the threat to Australia and Britain from mass migration.

Hanson praised her daughter, Lee, but said she would have to prove herself because there would be no nepotism in decisions on the future of the party.

The remarks, recorded last week, have been released online at a highly sensitive time for One Nation and its leadership because of tensions over Hanson’s working holiday in Europe and her decision to speak to Robinson, a divisive figure who has been convicted of assault.

A handful of oil tankers have been seen conducting ship-to-ship transfers off the coast of Oman, a sign that ships are continuing to sail through the Strait of Hormuz before offloading their cargoes onto other vessels after recent Iranian attacks on shipping.

At least four tankers were transferring cargoes near the ports of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates and Sohar in Oman, satellite images from the European Union’s Copernicus browser showed.

Those areas have been the main spots where ships shuttling in and out of Hormuz have transferred their cargoes onto vessels that would ultimately sail on to their eventual destination.
