Emma Raducanu buoyant after thumping win over Blinkova at Queen’s

Jack Draper pulls out of men’s event to continue recovery

Emma Raducanu believes her strong start to the grass-court season can be the launchpad for success over the coming month as she reached the second round at Queen’s Club with a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Anna Blinkova, a qualifier.

“It was a really good stepping stone, and the way I was feeling on the court, the way I was moving, the way I was expressing myself, just the whole package, not necessarily the tennis, just how I kind of was acting on the court, I really enjoyed it,” Raducanu said. “That’s something that I want to take forward in all of my matches and really embrace this grass-court season.”

Queen's: Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter make winning starts to grass-court season

Emma Raducanu is hopeful her commanding first-round win over Anna Blinkova at Queen's can serve as a "really good stepping stone" for her Wimbledon preparations.

British number one Raducanu was dominant for most of the contest, winning the first eight games without reply before going on to complete a 6-0 6-3 victory over the Russian qualifier.

It was the 23-year-old's first win since 6 March, when she beat qualifier Anastasia Zakharova in the Indian Wells first round.

Raducanu's season has since been disrupted by a post-viral illness that kept her off the WTA Tour for more than two months, and she lost her only two matches on clay on her return – in Strasbourg and at the French Open.

Australia v Mexico: women’s international football friendly – live

Caitlin Foord ends her 150th match with a win and a goal as the hosts deliver a much improved performance against an attacking Mexico

Carpenter, who notched up her 100th appearance in green and gold in the first game, says she is sorry for blocking Kennedy’s shot in the second half. Kennedy (and Kerr for that matter) could not keep a straight face as Carpenter writhed in pain on the grass.

double quotation markWe had a lot to work on from the last game. Obviously had to work out how to beat their press … I think we dealt with that tonight most of the time, still some shaky moments there but that’s what friendlies are for.

Matildas v Mexico LIVE updates: Australia take on Mexico at CommBank Stadium in friendly

Allegedly. For now. Once the ads are over I should be able to bring you some post-match reaction.

Here we go … Foord is being interviewed and says “it’s very special” to top off her 150th international appearance with a goal. “I just picked the far corner,” she continues. “It could have been a pen as well, but I stayed on my feet and put it in the far corner.”

The worldwide web informs me that the final whistle has blown and the score is still 3-1. I hope I didn’t miss much.

The broadcast camera cuts to Australia’s bench, where everyone except Kerr has a blanket covering their legs. Kerr don’t feel the cold. I’m about to type something about Mexico still feeling the heat when my stream drops out. The wheel of death is my demise. What is happening out there?

An Australian charity is warning that a growing number of people are lining up from the early hours of the morning to access food and essential support, after more than 3.4 million households experienced food insecurity over the past year.

Ann Cooper, founder and volunteer of South Australian not-for-profit group Cos We Care, told Yahoo News that demand for the weekly service has increased significantly in recent years, with more people relying on it.

The group provides free food, clothing and essential support to people experiencing homelessness and financial hardship through its weekly outreach service at Fremont Park in Elizabeth, in Adelaide's northern suburbs.

Farmer Wants A Wife sauntered back onto our screens last night for its highly anticipated 2026 season, and if first impressions are anything to go by, this year’s line-up of farmers are a particularly charming bunch.

Between Farmers Dylan, Alex and Jason, there was no shortage of flirting, awkward moments and wholesome conversations.

The premise of the first episode is simple: each farmer spends a little one-on-one time with their prospective partners before narrowing the field down to the final five women they’ll take back to the farm.

Here we are for the 16th season of Australia's favourite agriculture-related dating show, Farmer Wants a Wife.

As we revealed yesterday, this is the first time in a while that Channel Seven has allowed a Wollongong woman back as a contestant.

It's just not fair to the other ladies, especially when they bring the farmers home to visit.

This year the hopes and dreams of the entire Illawarra region are being carried by Carly Foster. She's an IVF nurse which will come in handy on the landy – whether you're cropping or stocking, fertilisation is where it all begins.

Year 12 students at an all-boys school in Melbourne have been caught cheating on an English exam using AI.

The students were spoken to after a school investigation into the incident, and their marks were reduced.

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority's rules state that using AI may breach academic integrity.

An all-boys school in Melbourne's outer east says it has taken action after several students were caught cheating on a Year 12 exam using AI.

Mulgrave's Mazenod College said it had recently discovered that some of its Year 12 students had used AI tools in an oral English exam, but would not confirm the exact number.

Dozens caught cheating at Mazenod College using AI in key exam

Almost a quarter of year 12 students at a boys’ school in Melbourne’s outer east have been caught using AI to cheat on a key English exam.

Up to 50 boys at Mulgrave’s Mazenod College were caught after their oral assessments, submitted two weeks ago, aroused suspicion among teachers and triggered a review of the assessments.

The Catholic school’s principal Paul Shannon said the review uncovered evidence of AI being used by students to help them in their exams, which were designed to assess the students’ understanding of the subject and to test their independent thinking.

He said the students were spoken to and had “the appropriate reduction in marks for the affected assessment”.

Lindy Chamberlain says jurors 'didn't understand' the evidence in her case. She wants change

SBS acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country and their connections and continuous care for the skies, lands and waterways throughout Australia.

In this episode of Insight, Lindy Chamberlain and Saxon Mullins put Australia's jury system on trial. Is the idea of twelve members of the community randomly selected to decide whether a person is guilty still fit for purpose? And do they always get it right?

In 1982, a jury found Lindy Chamberlain guilty of murdering her nine-week-old baby Azaria in one of the most famous miscarriages of justice in Australian history.

Lindy spent the next three years in prison before she was released after a crucial piece of evidence was found.

Insight: Lindy Chamberlain: “I’ll go into prison if you take care of my kids.”

In this episode host Kumi Taguchi asks if twelve members of the community randomly selected to decide whether a person is guilty still fit for purpose?

Amongst the forum guests is Lindy Chamberlain who recalls waiting in remand for the 1982 trial verdict, charged with murdering her nine-week-old daughter, Azaria.

“It took hours, which meant they weren’t agreeing with the judge or with one another. The longer it went on, the more I was conscious that there was a problem. The only place I could get away by myself was the screws’ toilet, so I went in there, and I was praying about it, because obviously I wanted to go home to my kids. I felt we’d made good case for that, but obviously something was wrong, and as I was praying, it came to me, I’m not saying the right thing by saying let me go home,” she recalls.

Lindy Chamberlain Advocates for Jury System Reform

Lindy Chamberlain has expressed her belief that jurors in her 1982 trial did not fully grasp the evidence presented, advocating for changes to the Australian jury system. According to SBS News, Chamberlain’s conviction for the murder of her baby Azaria is considered one of Australia’s most significant miscarriages of justice.

Chamberlain served three years in prison before her conviction was overturned in 1988, following the discovery of crucial evidence. She maintains that the jurors were not adequately equipped to understand the complex forensic evidence presented during the trial. “They didn’t understand it. They had no idea,” she stated, highlighting the difficulties faced even by legal professionals in comprehending the evidence.
