Only in Hong Kong: 50 years of sevens rugby history

As the stars of HSBC SVNS touches down in Hong Kong for the first leg of this year’s three-tournament World Championship series, commentator Rupert Cox and key figures of the game recall their favourite moments from five decades of the legendary tournament

Hong Kong celebrates 50 years of Rugby Sevens this weekend — and the tournament sure has come a long way. An event that began in 1976 at the old and often waterlogged Hong Kong Football Club, has become a global attraction attended by tens of thousands, at the state-of-the-art Kai Tak Stadium.

Melrose may have been the first, Dubai might now be the biggest, but Hong Kong remains the blue-riband event of Sevens.

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band are headed to Phoenix, bringing The Land of Hope & Dreams American Tour to Mortgage Matchup Center on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

The artwork for this tour includes the words “NO KINGS” and Springsteen clarified exactly what means by that in a statement outlining his goals and motivations for this tour.

"We are living through dark, disturbing and dangerous times, but do not despair — the cavalry is coming!,” he promised.

“We will be rocking your town in celebration and in defense of America — American democracy, American freedom, our American Constitution and our sacred American dream — all of which are under attack by our wannabe king and his rogue government in Washington, D.C. Everyone, regardless of where you stand or what you believe in, is welcome — so come on out and join the United Free Republic of E Street Nation for an American spring of Rock 'n' Rebellion!”

Communities 'in the middle of nowhere' are scared they'll run out of fuel

Remote community residents are worried about the future, with their groceries already increasing in price. (ABC News: Jane Bardon)

Remote Indigenous communities are asking for targeted government financial assistance to help them cope with large increases in fuel and food prices.

Aboriginal organisations are calling on the federal, state and territory governments to prioritise remote communities' needs for diesel to run their local power stations and to truck in food.

Federal Indigenous Australians Minister Malarndirri McCarthy says she will lobby her colleagues to increase welfare payments for remote residents.

People in Australia's most remote and vulnerable communities are calling for help to deal with the highest fuel and food prices in the country, as they soar amid the war in Iran.

Sustainable energy is a vital part of Australia’s security

When former Australian Defence Force chief Chris Barrie and Australian Coal Association ex-chair Ian Dunlop co-write an article decrying the glacial pace of renewables adoption in Australia, and our resulting energy insecurity, our government should take heed and act (“Stop defending unsustainable past, April 18). Since the repealing of the carbon tax 12 years ago, there has been complacency and government inertia, with populist politics trumping prescient policy. Though Australia is blessed with intellectual and physical resources, we have twiddled our thumbs while the world has changed. We need to act now, and boldly, on fast-tracking electrification through renewables. Our prime minister needs to be braver – much braver. Rowan Godwin, Rozelle

Ipswich Town vs Middlesbrough: Championship stats & head-to-head

But Boro will draw level on 75 points with Tractor Boys if they win

Boro on six-game winless run that has damaged automatic promotion bid

Real intensity to this game with tackles flying in in midfield and everyone pressing at 100mph.

Just what you want, as sometimes early kick-offs can be a tad sedate.

Very tricky to predict. I would say a draw is okay for Ipswich although not ideal but Middlesbrough must win which means if they are drawing near the end of the game they may have to just go for it and risk losing.

Jack Taylor drives down the left channel and is clipped by Alan Browne, earning Town a dangerous free-kick on the left.

Ipswich in promotion driving seat but little is ever as it seems with Championship

Kieran McKenna’s team face a crunch clash with Middlesbrough but charging Southampton loom large

At the end of July, Ipswich and Middlesbrough reached an agreement. If the Boro midfielder Hayden Hackney agreed personal terms he could join the Suffolk club, freshly relegated and awash with ready funds, for a Championship record fee of around £20m. Kieran McKenna knew he would be getting the best schemer in the division if his target said yes; a player who could make the difference in a 46-game grind. Perhaps with half an eye on Premier League interest, Hackney heard Ipswich out but turned the transfer down. He would end up staying on Teesside and propelling an often exhilarating promotion chase.

This year, Tadej Pogačar and Mathieu van der Poel have opted not to ride the race after busy Classics seasons. Pogačar was edged out by Skjelmose last year and is likely in need of a rest after a brutal second place to Wout van Aert at Paris–Roubaix last Sunday.

Politicians and media can’t imagine a fossil-fuel free world – and it’s holding Australians back from huge EV savings

Australia is well behind other countries in embracing clean cars – it’s past time we kicked into gear on going electric

It is tempting to think about what could have been. In 2020, a time many people would prefer to forget, there was a significant push to set an end date for the sale of new petrol and diesel cars.

The UK had announced a ban from 2030. India – the world’s most populous country and which, like Australia and the UK, uses right-hand-side drive cars – had a target to do the same. In Norway, about 60% of new cars were already electric.

EV car brand boss hopes Australia has hit an EV tipping point

As rising fuel prices push interest in electric vehicles to record levels, this EV company hopes for a silver lining.

As electric vehicle sales rise to record levels, Polestar is hoping current uncertainties around fuel supply mark the beginning of a new era for EV uptake in Australia – and believes its brand is in a great position.

A record 14.6 per cent of new cars sold last month were electric, up 42.3 per cent compared to the month prior. Sales of used electric vehicles also rose, reportedly doubling over the same period.

“The questions around Australia's fuel security, and the independence that can be gained by customers driving electric, I think, is now better established than it was,” Polestar Australia managing director Scott Maynard told Drive.

Mostert apologises over controversial Kostecki clash

Chaz Mostert has publicly apologised to Brodie Kostecki and the Shell V-Power Racing team following the dramatic end to Race 13 in Christchurch.

On the penultimate lap, Kostecki fired down the inside of Turn 2, and hit Mostert's Toyota. Mostert returned serve, the two cars clashing before Kostecki was sent into the infield.

Kostecki came back across the road, and the out-of-control Shell V-Power Mustang sent the pack scattering. Notably, Will Brown narrowly missed Kostecki's stricken car.

Mostert crossed the line fourth, but was reclassified 17th after being slapped with a 30-second penalty. Kostecki finished 18th, and lost both the championship lead and the Jason Richards Trophy to Broc Feeney.

Supercars news: Stewards explain Mostert penalty for Kostecki clash

Mostert and Kostecki came to blows in the closing stages of the race as the latter tried to make a crucial pass that would have clinched the Jason Richards Trophy.

He got alongside Mostert on the exit of Turn 2 before Mostert bumped the Shell Mustang off the road on the run towards Turn 3.

That tipped Kostecki into a spin initially through the infield and then across the track at the exit of Turn 3, where he was narrowly missed by Will Brown.

Race control wasted little time acting, Mostert swiftly hit with a 30-second penalty by driving standards advisor Craig Baird.

Supercars champions Chaz Mostert and Brodie Kostecki collide at high speed in fiery fight for Jason Richards Trophy

Reigning Bathurst 1000 champion Matt Payne has registered back-to-back commanding wins to end the historic first round in Christchurch.

After cantering to victory in the second 37-lap sprint on Saturday, Ford ace Payne continued his hot pace in Sunday’s 200km race.

Starting on pole, the New Zealander was untroubled for the majority of the race to celebrate another win in front of home fans.

“It was really nice to have a quick car, just being able to execute,” said Payne, whose only two wins for this season came within 24 hours.

“That was the perfect race for us — a couple of safety cars — but we were just damn fast and it was damn enjoyable.

‘From’ Renewed For Fifth and Final Season (Exclusive)

The Hollywood Reporter speaks with the supernatural thriller's three creative masterminds about the decision to end the story: "There's always a goodbye."

MGM+ has renewed From, the supernatural thriller series starring Oz and Lost alum Harold Perrineau, for a fifth and final season, The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively confirm.

Filmed on location in Halifax, Canada in what the production refers to as “From Town” (an actual town built from the ground up specifically for the show), From centers on a nightmare town with no discernible way in or out. Monsters roam the streets at night, spiders and cicadas and worse stalk the surrounding forest, and existential dread permeates all the townspeople trapped within. What is this place? Why is this place? And is there really no way to escape? With more mysteries than you can comfortably fit into a box, From fans (lovingly known as the “Fromily” within the fandom) finally stand ready to receive those answers, beginning with season four, premiering April 19.

Exclusive: Harold Perrineau warns From Season 4 is 'darker' than ever

WARNING: This article and video contains spoilers for the first three seasons of From.

Often cited as the scariest show on TV, the wait is nearly over for fans of the mind-bending horror sensation From. With the brand new season set to drop this Monday, April 20, only on Stan, the stakes for the residents of the nightmare town have never been higher.

The new season of From premieres April 20, same day as the U.S and only on Stan.

At the center of the storm is Sheriff Boyd Stevens, played by Lost star Harold Perrineau. After the harrowing events of the season three finale, which saw the devastating loss of Tian-Chen and the gruesome "return" of Smiley, Boyd is a man pushed to the absolute brink.

In their efforts to be freed, some characters learn that their connection to the dreary town is deeper than they could have ever imagined. According to MGM+, Season 4 "will open doors that some in town will end up wishing remained closed."

"From" Season 4 premieres on MGM+ on Sunday, April 19 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

The authors of Crimson Desert continue to refine the game and fix bugs.

Crimson Desert developers have released update 1.03.00, focusing on expanding the combat system and improving the convenience of exploration, especially when playing as secondary characters.

In the update, Damian and Unka received new skills, including "Axiom Power" and "Veil of Wind," and their abilities now partially duplicate Cliff's key mechanics. This allows for freer exploration of the world with these characters, without fear of lacking the abilities to solve puzzles and other tasks. Cliff himself also acquired a new ability, "Raven's Air Strike."

Fast travel is now available at almost any moment outside of combat, including while riding, falling, swimming, or climbing. This speeds up exploration and reduces the number of unnecessary actions when moving around the world.

Inside Prince William’s plans to cut off more royals after Beatrice, Eugenie: Report

Prince William’s plans for an even slimmer monarchy have started to pick up the pace and he already has a royal in mind

Prince William’s inheritance, the British throne has been facing onslaught after onslaught ever since the later years of the Queen, and now, with his uncle deemed a ‘disgraced royal’ with no title or status, and his younger brother’s memoir, interviews and the like exposing private family moments. It seems he’s ready to pull up his socks with one of the most ruthless over hauls of the century.

News of this shift is being brought to light by the National Enquirer and some insider reports from earlier even point to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s separation from the inner circle, and absence from Easter being because of their cousin.

Prince William ‘Not Done’ Slimming Down the Monarchy: ‘Plenty More’ People ‘He Has His Eyes On’ (Exclusive)

Prince William is ruthless when it comes to his vision of how things should run in the British monarchy, a source tells the National Enquirer.

Once crowned king, “he plans on cutting anyone he feels is coasting or trading off the royal name without pulling their weight,” reveals the source.

The heir apparent, 43, has “already started by pushing out” Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, the source notes, as well as their scandal-plagued parents, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson.

“There are plenty more he has his eyes on. He’s not done yet,” hints the source. “That said, it’s not just about getting rid of people. He’s also very focused on building a team he actually believes in.”
