Prince Harry and Meghan land in UK days after announcing move

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have arrived back in the UK, BBC News understands.

Prince Harry, Meghan and their children Archie and Lilibet are believed to have flown into the country privately from California, and landed in Birmingham shortly before midday.

A spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said "this is not something we would comment on".

There did not appear to be a police presence as Harry and his family left the airport, a source told the BBC.

Last week, it was reported that the couple would be relocating to the UK in August. They will not return to official duties but will live in Britain as non-working royals.

Harry, Meghan and family expected to enjoy ‘extended stay’ with children Archie and Lilibet already enrolled at school

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have arrived back in the UK, landing at Birmingham airport, according to reports.

Prince Harry, Meghan, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, are expected to enjoy an “extended stay” in Britain, with the children already enrolled at school in the UK and due to start next week.

The couple’s return, six years after they decamped to California and stepped down as working royals – meaning they no longer carry out official royal engagements – was revealed just last week, with the king having only been informed four days previously.

‘Can never say we’re done’: WiseTech signals more AI job losses are coming

WiseTech Global will cut more jobs as artificial intelligence takes over more of its work, chief executive Zubin Appoo has flagged, and he says the cuts will not stop when the current program ends.

“We can never say that we’re done,” Appoo said on Wednesday, hours after the embattled logistics software company posted an 11 per cent fall in annual profit and its shares dropped more than 7 per cent.

About 1200 of the 2000 roles announced in February have gone. Appoo said most of the rest would come from exiting large parts of the professional services arm of e2open, the US company WiseTech bought last year for $US3.2 billion, and shifting that work to partner firms.

WiseTech chief stands by pricing shift, redundancies as profit slides

WiseTech Global chief executive Zubin Appoo has stood by a controversial decision to shake up the way it charges customers as he confirmed 1700 jobs cuts have now been made under an AI-driven cost-saving program announced earlier this year.

An Australian technology company has stood behind cutting 1700 jobs in favour of artificial intelligence, as it raked in record annual revenue.

Logistics software provider WiseTech Global's total income surged 79 per cent to $US1.4 billion ($A19.5 billion) in the year to June 30, supported by its buyout of Texas-headquartered supply chain player e2open.

The acquisition helped deliver $64 million in annualised operating profit savings, while its artificial intelligence transformation had cut $34 million from the balance sheet, chief executive Zubin Appoo said.

Hahn Australia Cup 2026 QF MD4 Preview: Massive Victorian derby concludes quarter-final stage

Preston Lions have been in red-hot form in the NPL Victoria, but Australian Championship winners South Melbourne know just how to turn up on the big stage.

Nights at Genis Steel Stadium don’t get much bigger as Preston Lions hope to overcome their biggest rivals to reach the semi-finals in their first ever appearance on the national stage.

Preston caused a ‘Cupset’ in the Round of 32 with a 3-2 victory over Newcastle before easing past fellow Victorian side Moreland Zebras 4-1 in the Round of 16.

The Lions are currently undefeated in fourteen matches across the league in the Cup and are set to compete in the NPL Victoria semi-finals this season. They possess quality in all areas of the pitch, from the experienced Ryan Scott in goal to the creative Luca Tevere up top, and will hope to keep a remarkable debut in the competition rolling for at least one more round.

How to watch Australia Cup quarter-finals: Everything you need to know as two fierce foes renew rivalry this week

Who will join A-League giants Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC in the 2026 Australia Cup semi-finals? That is what will be decided this week.

Victory and Sydney FC will go head-to-head in the semi-finals, having progressed from the quarter-finals but there are still two spots up for grabs among four NPL clubs.

On Tuesday night, NPL QLD premiers Lions FC will host Victorian second-tier outfit North Sunshine Eagles in Queensland.

Then on Wednesday night, NPL VIC heavyweights Preston Lions and South Melbourne will renew their rivalry in a blockbuster showdown.

The two winners will meet for a spot in this season’s final, where either Victory of Sydney will await.

Breaking: Macquarie Group dumps KPMG from audit contract

Macquarie released a statement on Wednesday citing the ongoing scrutiny of KPMG. (Four Corners)

Macquarie Group has announced it will drop KPMG as an auditor, amid an ongoing scandal relating to its handling of confidential information.

Macquarie announced on Wednesday afternoon that its board held concerns over the firm's auditing practices, amid ongoing scrutiny of KPMG.

"The decision follows continued scrutiny of KPMG Australia's audit practice, including information exposed by the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services," the statement said.

"It also follows Macquarie's formal enquiries of KPMG to consider its capacity to deliver the audit, as well as the nature and impact of ongoing issues at KPMG Australia."

ASX 200 LIVE: ASX ends lower as hot CPI drives up bets of further RBA rate rises; Deutsche Bank, ANZ tip further interest rate increases

The Australian sharemarket snapped a two-day winning streak on Wednesday after inflation came in stronger than expected, keeping the risk of further interest rate increases by the Reserve Bank of Australia in play.

The S&P/ASX 200 Index fell 0.4 per cent, or by 36.80 points, to 9127.80, after hitting a high of 9220.60 before the Australian Bureau of Statistics released the July price data.

While inflation slowed from 3.8 per cent in June to 3.5 per cent last month, it was above the 3.3 per cent forecast by economists. Trimmed mean – the RBA’s preferred gauge – held at 3.6 per cent, putting it on track to come in well above the central bank’s prediction for the September quarter.

Macquarie dumps KPMG from the nation’s biggest audit contract

KPMG has been dumped as the incoming auditor of Macquarie Group, costing the firm a contract that was expected to be worth $700 million over the next decade and marking the biggest single financial blow yet from its whistleblower scandal.

Macquarie told the ASX on Wednesday afternoon that it had determined to “no longer recommend the appointment of KPMG as auditor” at next year’s shareholder meeting, meaning it will instead retain rival firm PwC.

The announcement comes the same week that KPMG cut 380 employees and partners in what is expected to be just the first wave of job losses following the whistleblower scandal. Those cuts were concentrated in its consulting division, but with major contract losses the audit section will require fewer staff.

‘I started going grey at 19. A decade on, there is finally a woman who looks like me on TV’

Opinion: There’s a tiny detail in the new season of Ted Lasso that’s easy to miss, but it hit me like a freight train when I noticed it in the first episode – and I haven’t been able to stop noticing it since.

Coach Alice Chilton, played by 34-year-old Sex Education and The Other Bennet Sister star Tanya Reynolds, has grey hairs.

Coach Alice Chilton has grey hairs and doesn’t hide them in Ted Lasso’s fourth season. Universal Television, Warner Bros. Television

Not a full head of them, not a stripe of white at her roots, but a visible scattering of grey hair through her long dark hair.

Ted Lasso season 4 episode 4 recap: Breaking up cliques

We’ve been on a journey in Ted Lasso season 4. We started with finding a way to get Ted (Jason Sudeikis) back to Richmond, this time to shepherd the women’s team, but it hasn’t been smooth sailing for the team, either.

Much like with the men’s team once upon a time, Ted is having to work his magic to make them a cohesive unit. That continues this week as he tries to get them all on the same page. The fourth episode of the season, “Greyhounds’ Day Off,” shows there is work to be done to get them to bond.

‘Ted Lasso’ Doubles Down on Its Most Infuriating Storyline

Sam and Diane, Ross and Rachel, Pam and Jim, Nick and Jess. Every decade has a memorable sitcom will-they-won’t-they that goes through various stages of yearning, getting together, breaking up, and reuniting. It is a tried-and-tested formula that, if timed right, will have audiences cheering at significant milestones—like first kisses—as if their team has just scored.

Unfortunately, Ted Lasso fails to capitalize on its previous romantic momentum and comes up short in this department.

“I think keeping two people apart who belong together is bad,” Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) says in an earlier episode this season. She is talking to her ex, Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), about his coaching staff quandary, but really, she is talking about them. There is no wink to the camera, but there might as well have been.

Kaylee McKeown had one of her world records broken. It could be a blessing in disguise

Olympic great Kaylee McKeown has revealed she won’t race internationally for the remainder of the year and says losing her 50-metre backstroke world record has lit a fire inside her ahead of a historic quest for glory at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The 25-year-old, who missed the recent Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and Pan Pacific Championships in California due to glandular fever, is prioritising her health and will sit out World Cup events in October, as well as the World Short Course Championships in China in December.

McKeown, a five-time Olympic gold medallist, said earlier this month she hoped to be back racing on the world stage later this year, but she and her coach, Michael Sage, have agreed to instead target next year’s longcourse world championships in Budapest.

Under Armour Launches New Brand Platform Centered on Commit, Spotlighting the Growth and Rewards Found in Sport

SINGAPORE, Aug. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Under Armour today launched "Commit", its new brand platform that brings to life the commitment stories and moments of athletes who keep showing up for the sports they love.

The platform reflects Under Armour's belief that what draws people back to the track, the court, the gym and the field goes beyond results. It is the strength, growth, freedom, joy and fulfillment discovered when they truly commit to something they believe in.

While sports narratives have long spotlighted championships, records and breakthroughs, Under Armour is turning its attention to what happens before the outcome: the first breath of cold air at the start of an early run, the instinct to take one more rep after training ends, the courage to get back up after a fall. For Under Armour, commitment is never a decision made in a single moment: it's written into the stories of showing up, again and again.

Suspected bird flu infection in fox sparks fears of 'long-distance' spread

A red fox is suspected of having contracted H5N1 bird flu. (iNaturalist: Eddy Smith, Red fox, CC BY-NC 4.0)

A red fox found in suburban Adelaide is suspected to have been infected with the H5 bird flu, South Australia's Department of Primary Industries and Regions says.

More than 300 infection events have been recorded across the country since the first case was detected in June.

The test needs to be confirmed by the CSIRO's Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness in Geelong.

South Australian authorities say they have five new suspected cases of bird flu in the state, including a red fox in Osborne, in metropolitan Adelaide, as they warn pet owners to restrict the movement of their cats and dogs.

Scientists have warned deadly H5 bird flu could cause “carnage” for Australia’s seal and sea lion populations after detection of the virus in long-nosed fur seals in South Australia.

SA confirmed Australia’s first case in a mainland mammal on Saturday after a dead long-nosed fur seal found at Beachport on the Limestone Coast tested positive for H5N1.

The state government announced a second suspected case on Monday in a dead long-nosed fur seal found on the Pages Islands, off Kangaroo Island, with results from CSIRO testing pending.

Backyard bird feeding could be a bird flu ‘superspreader’. An expert explains

Backyard bird feeding is one of our country’s most popular pastimes. Research reveals about half of Australian households feed wild birds, with many people doing so daily.

However, this practice could act as a superspreader event – where a disease infects an unusually high number of people or animals – of the H5N1 virus. This deadly strain of bird flu has already decimated wild bird and mammal populations worldwide. It is now spreading across Australia, most recently killing more than 1,000 crested terns and a long-nosed fur seal, the first detection in a mainland mammal.

Although many Australians feed wild birds, the practice is controversial. This is mainly due to concerns about people offering unsuitable foods and birds becoming dependent on humans.
