Iredell County woman wins “dream” $1 million Powerball prize

Crystal Jones of Mooresville likes playing Powerball for the chance to win big, and that’s exactly what happened when a $2 ticket won her a $1 million prize.

“I don’t mind paying a couple of dollars for a dream,” she said.

Jones bought her lucky Quick Pick ticket from Fast Phil’s on Charlotte Highway in Mooresville. She matched the numbers on all five white balls to win $1 million in the Feb. 9 drawing. The odds of that win are 1 in 11.6 million.

“I saw the numbers on the TV and I was in disbelief,” Jones recalled. “I got out of bed and just started calling everybody.”

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) – A woman who purchased a Powerball ticket at a gas station in Iredell County this month won $1 million.

Crystal Jones bought her lucky Quick Pick voucher from Fast Phil’s along Charlotte Highway in Mooresville.

Jones was stunned when she matched all five white ball numbers in the Feb. 9 drawing.

“I saw the numbers on the TV, and I was in disbelief,” Jones recalled. “I got out of bed and just started calling everybody.”

When Jones claimed her prize at lottery headquarters on Tuesday, Feb. 24, after taxes, she took home $720,101.

“It just feels realer and realer now,” Jones said when she received her check.

Pokémon Champions Brings The Fight To Switch This April

We got our first proper look at Pokémon Champions in last year's Pokémon Presents showcase, and today, TPC has finally spilled the beans on a release date. Or, more accurately, a release window.

As revealed at the end of the new trailer (above), Champions will arrive on Switch at some point in April 2026, with the mobile version launching "later this year".

As for the trailer itself, we don't see all that much that we'd class as "new". Once again, this is to be the go-to battle format for the competitive scene going forward, so all of the footage was very… battle-y.

Pokémon’s big Switch and mobile battle game, Champions, finally has a release date

The Pokémon Company has confirmed that its upcoming mobile and Switch battle game, Pokémon Champions, will finally begin rolling out starting in April.

The Nintendo Switch version of the game will release in April, The Pokémon Company said in a live stream on Friday, followed by the mobile release later this year.

Players will be able to transfer Pokémon caught in the Nintendo Switch versions of Fire Red and Leaf Green via Pokémon Home.

Pokémon Champions is focused on the competitive side of Pokémon battling. The game will also be used during the Pokémon World Championships 2026, replacing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The Commonwealth Bank reportedly suspects around A$1 billion in home loans were obtained fraudulently, including through AI-generated documents. The Australian Financial Review says the bank has reported itself to police and the corporate watchdog to investigate.

According to sources quoted in the newspaper, Australia’s largest bank discovered the suspected fraud last year, partly thanks to two whistleblowers. After rival bank NAB was allegedly defrauded of around $150 million, the Commonwealth Bank also reportedly began investigating its own loans. Its Australian home loans alone are worth around $634 billion.

Big four banks find themselves embroiled in loan fraud probe

Police suspect that just one criminal network has defrauded all four of the country’s major banks by at least $300 million amid growing concerns that the washing of illicit funds through real estate is a systemic problem.

Westpac and ANZ have reported suspected fraud in their loan books to NSW Police, joining National Australia Bank and Commonwealth Bank, which have been working to assess the scale of the potential wrongdoing.

Instagram to alert parents if teens 'repeatedly' search for self-harm terms

Instagram will send alerts to opted-in parent accounts if a child searches for suicide or self-harm content repeatedly.

There are concerns about the evolution of online language and the limitation that it only applies to "teen accounts".

The feature will be introduced in Australia next week, Meta said.

Instagram will alert parents if their child searches for suicide or self-harm terms, the company behind the social media platform has said.

If a child using a "Teen Account" frequently searches for terms about suicide or self-harm within a short period of time, an adult would receive an alert, Meta said. The adult account must be opted in to supervision settings over the teen account.

The popular social media site has announced it is introducing the notifications for Australian parents in the coming weeks.

People using Instagram's supervision tools will receive an alert if their child repeatedly searches for terms relating to suicide or self-harm.

The message will be received via an in-app notification, as well as email, SMS or WhatsApp, explaining the searches have occurred while providing expert-backed guidance on how to have a conversation about it with their children.

In the coming weeks, Instagram will start notifying parents using supervision if their teen repeatedly tries to search for terms related to suicide or self-harm within a short period of time. This is the latest protection for Teen Accounts and Instagram’s parental supervision features.

We understand how sensitive these issues are, and how distressing it could be for a parent to receive an alert like this. The vast majority of teens do not try to search for suicide and self-harm content on Instagram, and when they do, our policy is to block these searches, instead directing them to resources and helplines that can offer support. These alerts are designed to make sure parents are aware if their teen is repeatedly trying to search for this content, and to give them the resources they need to support their teen.

A fast-finishing Footscray have fallen frustratingly short of Box Hill in their second practice match ahead of the 2026 VFL Season.

Former Alpine Formula 1 driver Jack Doohan received death threats heading into the 2025 Miami Grand Prix weekend, which is revealed in the latest season of Netflix show, “Drive to Survive.”

All 16 teams in the Champions League find out their opponents for the knockout stages in today's draw, and you can follow along live on ESPN.

The draw, which will decide the bracket for the the last 16, quarterfinals and semifinals, takes place at 11 a.m GMT (6 a.m. EST, 3 a.m. PST) in Nyon, Switzerland.

Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Chelsea, Sporting and Manchester City secured their place in the round of 16 in the League Phase.
