The Aurora Australis could appear tomorrow – here’s how to catch it

If you’ve seeing the southern skies come alive in greens, pinks, and purples was on your 2025 bucket list, tomorrow night could deliver just in time. Scientists are predicting strong geomagnetic activity on 9 December 2025, meaning the Aurora Australis may be visible across much of southern Australia and parts of New Zealand. Here's what you need to know.

Southern regions will have the clearest shots at the aurora, with those in Tasmania, Victoria, and South Australia poised for the best view. However, strong solar activity might push the lights further north than usual, potentially reaching southern New South Wales, Queensland, and New Zealand.

Will ‘Ripple’ Return for Season 2? Netflix Show’s Ending, Explained

Life can bring strangers together in unexpected ways. That’s exactly what happens in the new Netflix series Ripple, which dropped on December 3.

Despite being on separate paths, once Walter (Frankie Faison), Nate (Ian Harding), Kris (Julia Chan), and Aria (Sydney Agudong) cross paths, their lives are altered forever. After his beloved wife dies suddenly, Walter finds community at the Lumi wine bar, owned by Nate. Kris is a newly-fired music executive who seeks solace at the wine bar and immediately connects with Nate.

Nate’s marriage is on the rocks when Ripple begins, but a random injury (caused by Aria dropping a small rock from her balcony) leads him to the hospital, where a doctor discovers Nate has cancer. Aria, a talented singer, is struggling with her life as it is now, and this includes her relationship with John (Robert Bazzocchi). However, Aria’s chance encounter with Kris inspires them both.

'Cosy' Netflix series forces fans to binge all eight episodes at once

A 'cosy' Netflix series is forcing fans to binge all eight episodes at once. It is also being dubbed as the perfect watch leading up to the Christmas holidays.

Viewers are also hopeful of being treated to a second season sooner rather than later after watching the new show called Ripple. The series was only added to the streaming platform earlier this week, on December 3.

While it has arrived with very little fanfare, an increasing number of fans have been urging others to discover the title. It was originally a production for the Hallmark channel but made a last minute switch to Netflix, making its debuts on the platform instead.

'The Abandons' Is Everything Wrong With TV in 2025

The Abandons is a Rorschach test. What you see in the new Netflix western says at least as much about your perspective on the current TV landscape as it does about the show itself. Look at it one way, and it’s an innocuous potboiler—no masterpiece, sure, but entertaining enough to please fans of the genre. The girl-power themes; the casting of two beloved franchise leads, Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey, opposite one another; and the fact that it was created by Sons of Anarchy’s Kurt Sutter are guaranteed to delight various key segments of the platform’s meticulously quantified subscriber base. But for anyone who sifts through huge quantities of television, The Abandons embodies everything that’s frustrating about the medium right now.

Sean Combs: The Reckoning review – you can see why the musician is fighting to ban this horrific documentary

Netflix’s series feels like the point of no return for the rapper and mogul. It’s so thorough in its harrowing detail that it will surely block any chance he ever had of a return to stardom

If its subject gets his way, the new documentary series Sean Combs: The Reckoning might not be available on Netflix for long. On Monday, lawyers on behalf of Combs sent a cease and desist letter to the streamer, demanding that the series be withdrawn based on the inclusion of footage that they claim violates copyright, and involves discussions of “legal strategy that were not intended for public viewing”.

Sean Combs' Mother Rips Netflix Over Alleged "Fake Narratives" In 'Reckoning' Docuseries

EXCLUSIVE: The Good Book tells us “a soft answer turneth away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger.” However, this week, Sean Combs‘ mother and Netflix both appear to have put the Bible lesson of Proverbs 15:1 out to pasture — as Janice Combs made glaringly evident today.

“I am writing this statement to correct some of the lies presented in the Netflix, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, released on December 2, 2025,” the octogenarian matriarch told Deadline today of the chart topping docuseries “These inaccuracies regarding my son Sean’s upbringing and family life is intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation.”

My first car: Mel Tracina’s 1989 Ford Telstar

Big Brother Australia host Mel Tracina's first car – a 1989 Ford Telstar – came from the scrap yard, but she loved it all the same.

New host of Big Brother Australia Mel Tracina remembers getting her first car – a 1989 Ford Telstar – from a second-hand wrecker all thanks to some intel from her father, Robert, who is mad about cars.

“Dad’s friend worked at the wreckers and saw the Ford Telstar, which was simply too good to wreck. He suggested Dad give it to me. I had just turned 18 and got my licence straight away. It was an automatic with velour seats and I was mad about the car. I didn’t have any expectations of what I wanted my first car to be, I was happy to have wheels and freedom,” Tracina says.

Big Brother Australia fans fume over major rule break: 'Completely lost touch'

Big Brother Australia fans were left furious on Thursday when one housemate broke a major rule without repercussion.

Bruce was spotted sunbathing with fellow contestant Coco in the backyard of the house when he managed to sneak in some interaction with the outside world.

Situated in the Dreamworld theme park on the Gold Coast, attendees on the nearby Tail Spin ride shouted out to Bruce as they got a bird's-eye view of the yard.

Despite being forbidden from interacting with the outside world, Bruce broke the major rule as he realised one of the theme park-goers was his brother.

Certain he could hear some familiar voices calling out as the ride swung overhead, Bruce hopped onto one of the sunbeds, shouting: 'It's Jonah! That's my brother!'

US vaccine panel votes to end universal hepatitis B vaccination for newborns

A US panel of vaccine advisers has voted to end the longstanding recommendation for vaccinations against the hepatitis B virus (HBV) right after birth.

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (Acip) voted 8-3 to back "individual-based decision-making" on whether to vaccinate babies born to mothers who have tested negative for the liver infection.

In June, Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, a vaccine sceptic, fired all the members of the Acip and replaced them with others who are critical of vaccines.

The US has recommended vaccinating newborns against hepatitis B since 1991, and data suggests that since then, the shots have prevented an estimated 90,000 deaths.

Not all babies need a hepatitis B shot at birth, US vaccine advisers say

For decades, the US government advised that all babies be vaccinated against the liver infection right after birth. (ABC News)

Committee members say the risk of hepatitis B infection for most babies is very low and that earlier research that found the vaccines were safe for infants was inadequate.

However, several medical societies and state health departments say they will continue to recommend them.

For babies of hepatitis B-negative mothers, it will be up to the parents and their doctors to decide if a birth dose is appropriate.

A federal vaccine advisory committee has voted to end the longstanding recommendation that all US babies get the hepatitis B vaccine on the day they are born.

Fact-checking the CDC panel's reasons for dropping universal newborn hepatitis B vaccine recommendation

Since roughly 1991, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended all babies get a dose of the hepatitis B vaccine at birth. The CDC committee that helps set vaccine policy voted Dec. 5 to overturn that decadeslong policy.

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ new recommendations say mothers who tested negative for hepatitis B should discuss the need for the vaccine with their doctors. For babies who do not receive a birth dose, the committee suggested the initial vaccine dose be given “no earlier than 2 months of age.”
