Chris Hemsworth watched her first screen kiss, now this star is back in Summer Bay

The last time Nicole da Silva set foot on the set of Home and Away, she was wearing a bikini. She shared a kiss with Jason Smith, while his friend, played by Chris Hemsworth, looked on from Sydney’s Palm Beach. Sadly, their characters’ romance didn’t extend beyond her one-day shoot.

Flash forward 20 years, and the ASTRA-award-winning Wentworth star makes her Summer Bay re-entrance once again on the beach. This time, she’s clad in a wetsuit, hair dripping from an ocean swim, when she encounters Alf Stewart (Ray Meagher). He remarks after their brief introduction: “She seems like a nice sheila”.

She has starred in the likes of All Saints, Rush, Wentworth and Doctor Doctor, so Nicole Da Silva is certainly no stranger to an Aussie legacy series. And this week, the acclaimed actress, 44, arrives in Summer Bay – taking on the role of Dr Amelia Carlisle in Home and Away.

“It is a rite of passage for most Aussie actors, I think,” she tells WHO about joining the soap.

While always on the bucket list, Nicole admits the role also came at the right time for her.

But for a whole legion of fans worldwide, she’ll forever be Wentworth’s, Franky Doyle.

The instant that the spin-off series Wentworth: The Next Chapter was announced by Binge in February, speculation went wild as to who would appear.

Meanwhile, Essendon has named defender Jordan Ridley for his third senior match of the season, along with first-round draft pick Dyson Sharp to face a Dees team it beat at Gather Round.

In other round 14 team news, No.1 draft pick Willem Duursma will be an absentee for West Coast's match against North Melbourne, out with a calf injury.

The Western Bulldogs have made one change ahead of their Thursday night Retro Round match against Adelaide.

BARRETT: Why football matters so much, and so little, to Jordan Dawson

As the Crows skipper superbly leads Adelaide amid a torrent of grief, his teammates have vowed to support their skipper anytime and anywhere, writes Damian Barrett

THERE is nowhere to hide in an AFL match, where between first and last sirens all combatants are exposed to an unforgiving, brutal workplace.

Adelaide captain Jordan Dawson loves this part of the football ritual. He thrives in competing against the best and is always plotting ways to break opponents, and last Thursday night, for the 165th time in a 10-year career with two clubs, he diligently went to work in a match at Adelaide Oval.

Coaches’ votes Round 13: Dawson’s big-game impact recognised after Cats thriller

Crows Captain Jordan Dawson’s inspirational performance in Adelaide’s one-point win against Geelong on Thursday night has earned him a perfect 10 in the AFLCA Coaches’ votes.

The 29-year-old was brilliant in the middle, and damaging in attack, finishing the match with 22 disposals, nine tackles, seven clearances, seven marks, three goals and 486 metres gained.

Young gun Dan Curtin was also prolific, and received eight votes following his team-high 26 disposals, five clearances, five marks, one goal and 527 metres gained.

Forward and Vice Captain Alex Neal-Bullen rounded out the vote-getters for Adelaide with one, after amassing 15 disposals, five tackles, three clearances and kicking a goal.

The reigning NRL premiers are on the verge of a sixth-straight loss, conceding five first half tries to trail 30-0 against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Jai Arrow has been honoured at Stadium Australia before the match as both sets of players formed a guard of honour, after he was forced to retire from rugby league following his motor neurone disease (MND) diagnosis.

The Rabbitohs are wearing a special white jersey for the occasion.

Major contract twist in Broncos’ halfback succession plan puts shock heat on stars — Whispers

Emerging playmaker Tom Duffy is reportedly on the verge of signing a two-year extension with the Brisbane Broncos, keeping him at Red Hill until the end of 2028.

As revealed by CODE Sports, the 22-year-old has not formally signed the fresh contract, but his management and the Broncos are in the advanced stages of negotiations.

Duffy, who has played three games for the Broncos this season, has been handed the No. 6 jersey and will partner Adam Reynolds in the halves for this weekend’s Queensland derby against the Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium after coach Michael Maguire sensationally benched Ezra Mam.

Brisbane coach Michael Maguire has stuck to his guns and sensationally kept star playmaker Ezra Mam on the bench against South Sydney.

The 23-year-old has been listed at No.18 and Tom Duffy preferred for the second week in a row in the starting five-eighth role against the Rabbitohs at Homebush on Thursday night.

Mam, on the extended bench for Queensland for the opening State of Origin clash, was demoted to the bench by Maguire after the dire 30-26 loss to St George Illawarra in round 13.

NRL fans dudded as concerns raised over Rabbitohs and Broncos clash during State of Origin

NRL reporter David Riccio and Andrew Voss have raised concerns around the impact of State of Origin with the Rabbitohs and Broncos playing a must-win clash with limited players. The Brisbane Broncos are desperate for a win in Round 15 with Michael Maguire's side looking to stop a five-game losing streak.

The Broncos sit in 12th and have fallen behind the Melbourne Storm in the race for the Top 8. Another loss leaves the Broncos in a dire situation in their bid to play finals footy.

And Wayne Bennett's Rabbitohs side are also looking to stake their Top 8 claim. They are sitting in eighth tied with three teams. A win would be a huge boost for South Sydney's finals hopes. A loss leaves them behind the pack.

Halftime report card: How every NRL team is travelling in 2026, ladder predictions

A 27-round season means there is no official halfway point of the 2026 NRL season, but 14 rounds completed seems as good a time as any to call it officially the downhill run.

As the State of Origin period rolls on, and the ladder becomes a distorted mess (just look at the teams who are yet to have a bye), the run to the finals still has plenty of wiggle room, but some times have shone against pre-season expectations, and others have flopped.

When we checked in after seven weeks in our quarter season report, two coaches had already been sacked.

That carnage has come to an end, and with every team now having at least one win, the idea of a team going winsless is over.

The NRL world order is shifting. Can all-out attack topple the Panthers?

The rule of the NRL jungle is well known, and I don’t see it changing this year – you have to finish in the top four to win the premiership.

Last year the Broncos finished fourth with 36 points. In 2024, Cronulla set the cut-off at 38.

And even though we’re only just passing the halfway mark of this season, I’ve got the Panthers and Warriors already locked into a top-four finish. So two spots remain for two more title contenders – and this is where the 2026 run home gets really intriguing.

Here’s how I see the rest of the season playing out, the stars who will decide our title contenders, and a new NRL world order emerging.

10 Unexpected Fashion Moments You Might Have Missed at the Knicks Game

Last night, Game 3 of the NBA finals took over New York City. The buzz was palpable at Madison Square Garden, where stressed fans watched as the San Antonio Spurs faced off against the New York Knicks (and, ultimately, defeated them). The courtside seats were filled with celebrities, of course—including game regulars such as Spike Lee, Timothée Chalamet, Tina Fey, and Jay-Z.

Even better than the thrilling game taking place on the court? The unexpected fashion moments that were happening off-court, in the audience. Sure, this was not meant to be a fashion show—but Knicks and Spurs fans treated it as so, sporting their best custom merch (Spike Lee in a jersey signed by Pope Leo!) and designer pieces (Timmy in his orange Chrome Hearts tracksuit!). Because you simply never know when you will end up on the Jumbotron.

Jordan Clarkson Rocks A Custom Who Decides War Knicks Jacket To The NBA Finals

Jordan Clarkson wore a Who Decides War Knicks jacket and now we need one, too.

The 2026 NBA Finals are here, and for many of us, the chatter around the ultimate NBA competition is taking over our timelines.

For the first time in more than two decades, the New York Knicks are back in the finals, reigniting excitement across the East Coast and beyond. Diehard loyalists, celebrity fans, bandwagon supporters, and everyone in between are glued to every play, prediction, and post-game debate.

It’s Spike Lee’s world. We’re just living in it.

Spurs fans are also ready to win. The team has had a whirlwind season.

Jimmy Kimmel on Trump at NBA finals: ‘He shut down a city so he could take a nap’

Late night hosts weighed in on the president’s failing Iran peace talks and plans for a new Trump Promenade

On Tuesday night, late-night hosts addressed Donald Trump appearing to doze off during the NBA finals, misleading updates on Iran peace talks and plans for a new Trump Promenade in Washington DC.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live! the host addressed reports that Trump appeared to snooze off during Monday night’s Knicks v Spurs game at Madison Square Garden.

Doing so, Kimmel said, made him “the first sitting president to shut down a major United States city so he could take a nap in front of a sold-out crowd at the NBA finals”.

Trump booed at Knicks-Spurs game as he became first US president at NBA Finals

Donald Trump has been booed at a basketball match in New York as he became the first sitting US president to attend the NBA Finals.

The catcalls came after frustrated ticketholders waited for hours in queues that stretched more than two blocks outside Madison Square Garden on Monday due to the intense security restrictions that came with the US president's appearance.

The New York Knicks lost 111-115 to the San Antonio Spurs in game three of the best-of-seven NBA finals, cutting the Knicks' lead in the series to 2-1.

After the game, Trump told reporters: "It was, I think, mostly cheers. It was loud, and it was very enthusiastic."
