Guy Ritchie’s ‘Young Sherlock’ Delivers a Perfect Origin Story: TV Review

Inspired by Andrew Lane’s “Young Sherlock Holmes” novels and with Guy Ritchie as director, Prime Video’s “Young Sherlock” is sensational. The series, which was adapted by Matthew Parkhill, remixes the beloved figure to deliver all the traits fans know and love — with more than one twist. The show turns Victorian England on its head, infusing it with modern energy while offering an intricate mystery anchored by singular characters and extraordinary circumstances.

“Young Sherlock” begins long before the legendary detective acquires his signature deerstalker cap and pipe. At 19, Sherlock (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) can’t stay out of trouble. It’s 1871, and Sherlock’s claim to fame is that he’s mastered the art of pickpocketing. Although his sticky fingers have landed him a six-month prison sentence, his esteemed older brother, Mycroft (Max Irons), comes to his aid. With their father, Silas (Joseph Fiennes, who is Fiennes Tiffin’s real-life uncle), away on business and their mother, Cordelia (Natascha McElhone), confined to a mental institution, Mycroft guides Sherlock onto the right path by offering him a new job.

Indian Wells: All 15 stars to withdraw as seeded trio could follow

Main draw action at the 2026 Indian Wells Open will get underway on Wednesday 4 March, and 15 players have already withdrawn across both singles events.

Indian Wells is the first ATP 1000 event of the season and the third WTA 1000 after tournaments in Doha and Dubai in February.

The combined ATP/WTA tournament, which is staged at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in the Californian desert, is one of the most prestigious events in the sport outside of the four Grand Slams.

Indian Wells is the first leg of the ‘Sunshine Double’ in the United States, with the Miami Open — held later in March — the second leg.

Four WTA Players Withdraw From BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells

The main draw of the 2026 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, often referred to as the fifth Grand Slam, is scheduled from March 4th to 15th. Mirra Andreeva will start as the defending champion after winning her second WTA 1000 title 12 months ago. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Australian Open winner Elena Rybakina are also on the entry list. Four women, including a two-time Grand Slam champion, withdrew from the prestigious tournament.

Barbora Krejcikova was the most notable player to withdraw from the BNP Paribas Open. The former French Open and Wimbledon champion cannot play in California due to an injury. Amanda Anisimova received a walkover from Krejcikova at the Dubai Tennis Championships because of that physical issue, and she has not recovered in time to compete at the third WTA 1000 event of 2026.

Missing Florida man found over a week later trapped in shoulder-deep mud

Local crews rescued Andrew Giddens, 36, near a borrow pit after he faced freezing weather without food or water

A Florida man who had been missing since Valentine’s Day was found over a week later trapped in mud up to his shoulders, authorities said.

Andrew Giddens, 36, had reportedly gone several days without food or water by then, and officials ultimately rescued him in dramatic fashion to end his nightmarish ordeal.

Deputy Derrick Holmes of the sheriff’s office in Florida’s Putnam county spotted Giddens’ abandoned car on 23 February relatively close to a sand plant belonging to Vulcan Materials Company, the agency wrote in a Facebook post.

Missing man found stuck in mud at sand plant in Putnam County after two-week search

MELROSE, Fla. (WCJB) – Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies say a two-week search for a missing man has ended after he was found stuck in mud, but alert.

Deputies told TV20 that 36-year-old Andrew Giddens was located at the Vulcan Sand Plant. Giddens’ vehicle was found abandoned on Monday by a deputy who knew Giddens from a prior Vulcan property trespassing incident.

He had been missing since speaking with his father on Valentine’s Day. Friends and family said he was depressed due to a recent breakup.

Vulcan employees on the lookout for Gidden found him, shoulder-deep in mud, near a borrow pit. He was able to talk to the employee, but they couldn’t reach him.

A missing man was brought to safety in a harrowing rescue after being found shoulders deep in quick sand in Florida, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Flo. – A missing man was brought to safety in a harrowing rescue after being found shoulders deep in quick sand in Florida.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, it all started when a man was reported missing from Jacksonville. His last known contact was with his father on Feb. 14, and authorities later found his car abandoned on Feb. 23.

Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office contacted the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and requested a welfare check at his home after a search by plane yielded no findings.

Sydney will get its first new inner city suburb – known as Bays West – in decades, giving public waterfront access to Glebe Island for the first time in more than 100 years alongside 8,500 new homes.

The New South Wales government on Tuesday announced that a long-awaited overhaul of the government-owned land, directly above the under-construction Bays Metro station and near the western end of the Anzac Bridge, will go ahead.

It means Sydneysiders will farewell Glebe Island’s distinctive 1970s industrial silos as part of the “city-shaping” transformation, which will open up the long-underused site, stretching from Rozelle Bay to White Bay, 2km from the CBD.

The bulk of operations at Sydney Harbour’s last working port will be scrapped to make way for up to 8500 homes built around a metro train station, in a dramatic reshaping of the city’s foreshore that will provide public access to the waterfront for the first time in a century.

In the Bays West precinct near Rozelle, Sydney’s newest suburb will be connected to the CBD by a metro line and ferry services, as well as the long-awaited revamp of the Glebe Island Bridge for a bike and pedestrian route, under a transformation of underutilised government-owned port land.

Sydney will get up to 8500 new harbourside homes after the NSW Labor government announced it would move bulk port operations off Glebe Island to make way for a major new housing development.

The precinct two kilometres west of the CBD will include the new Bays West metro station, along with 7000 to 8500 homes – at least 10 per cent of which will be reserved for affordable and essential worker housing – and a minimum of 25 per cent open space. The White Bay Power Station will be used as the hub of a creative precinct.
