    After finding success reimagining the origins of King Kong and Godzilla for the big screen, Legendary and Warner Bros. decided to expand their MonsterVerse franchise to television, and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was born. Debuting on Apple TV in late 2023, the series split its story between two half-siblings in search of their missing father in the present day and a group of researchers during the fledgling days of Monarch decades earlier, connecting the two timelines in surprising fashion.

    The show was a hit with fans and critics, and a second season was announced just months after the first ended. Season 2 premieres on Apple TV on February 27, but the reviews have started to come in, with critics calling it a confident expansion of the franchise that successfully balances its large-scale thrills with thoughtful character work.

    All 16 teams in the Champions League find out their opponents for the knockout stages in today's draw, and you can follow along live on ESPN.

    The draw, which will decide the bracket for the the last 16, quarterfinals and semifinals, takes place at 11 a.m GMT (6 a.m. EST, 3 a.m. PST) in Nyon, Switzerland.

    Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Chelsea, Sporting and Manchester City secured their place in the round of 16 in the League Phase.

    Newcastle’s potential Champions League opponents ahead of last 16 draw

    Newcastle United are proving that they are a competitive Champions League team as they look to progress further in the European top-flight.

    Four wins and two draws (plus two defeats) was not enough to ensure that Eddie Howe’s side finished in the top eight spots of the league phase table and a battling 1-1 draw with PSG on the final matchday of the league phase meant both teams entered the play-off stage.

    Newcastle were drawn against Qarabag who finished 22nd in the table and Azerbaijani side’s form all but abandoned them in the first leg as Anthony Gordon inspired the Magpies to a 6-1 rout in Baku. Newcastle then finished off the job in the second leg to progress 9-3 on aggregate.

    Beth Mooney became the fourth Australia batter to post 7000 international runs in women's cricket but she is not done yet.

    The 32-year-old left-hander's 76 off 79 deliveries earned her player of the match accolades in the six-wicket win over India in the ODI clash at Allan Border Field on Tuesday night.

    It levelled the multi-format series at two wins apiece with two ODIs in Hobart and a Test match in Perth to follow.

    'Mrs Consistent' quietly continued her climb towards the pantheon of Aussies greats, steering her side out of danger and on the path to a win

    It was fitting that as Beth Mooney ticked off two significant milestones at Allan Border Field on Tuesday night, it was while playing a match-winning innings in a crucial match for Australia.

    Mooney's 76 from 79 deliveries ensured Australia's pursuit of 215 in the opening ODI against India culminated in a routine win to level the multi-format series at four points apiece.

    In the process, she ticked past 3,000 one-day runs, and 7,000 runs across all international formats.

    The 32-year-old is the seventh Australian woman to 3,000 runs, while just three of those – Meg Lanning, Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy – are members of the 7k club.

    ‘They are tired’: F1 boss sends clear message as major grand prix shake-up emerges

    Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali says the sport is considering boosting the number of sprint races to 12 among other format changes to shake-up race weekends.

    Sprint races, which run to just 100 kilometres and last around 30 minutes, were introduced in 2021 to trade practice sessions for competitive action.

    The sprint weekend format has been gradually tweaked into its current configuration, which sees just one practice session on Friday before sprint qualifying later that day. Saturday then begins with the sprint race, with the usual grand prix qualifying session following later in the afternoon. The Sunday grand prix takes place as normal.

    F1 sprint race idea could lead to 'enormous damage' for teams

    Former F1 star Pedro de la Rosa has warned something must be done to find more opportunities for young drivers to get time in F1 machinery as talks continue over increasing the number of sprint races on the calendar.

    The 54-year-old previously raced in F1 between 1999 and 2012, driving for Arrows, Jaguar, McLaren, Sauber and HRT, with his career best result in the pinnacle of motorsport a second-place finish at the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix.

    The Spaniard is also an ambassador for the currently struggling Aston Martin F1 team, and during an appearance in the commentary box at Bahrain pre-season testing this week, questioned how fair the sport's current 'young driver' label is.

    Drivers wary of increasing the number of Sprints

    As F1 seeks to at least double the number of Sprints each season, drivers feel it is the wrong way to go.

    As a footnote to the statement issued by the FIA following last week's meeting of the F1 Commission, it was confirmed that the sport's powers that be are seeking to increase the number of Sprints from 6 to 12 next season.

    The move was "based on the demand from fans and promoters" we were told, and F1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali subsequently confirmed the intention, even though it wasn't that long ago that he was pushing for two-day race weekends, insisting that Fridays were a waste of time as nobody really attended.

    On Wednesday, February 25, the powerhouse singer marked the 27th anniversary of My Heart Will Go On with a candid Instagram video reflecting on how close she came to never recording the Titanic anthem.

    “I’ve been very, very lucky in my career, because I’ve had some classic songs offered to me that won Oscars and will be remembered for way after I’m gone,” Dion, 57, shared. But when it came to the sweeping ballad, she admitted, “I didn’t want to sing My Heart Will Go On, not just because the director didn’t want to have a song in his movie, because he said his movie was great enough, which is true.”

    Rolling Loud Thailand refund delays trigger complaints online

    A Thai TikToker and other online users called on the local organiser of Rolling Loud Thailand to explain delays in ticket refunds following the festival’s cancellation announcement in October last year.

    Rolling Loud, a hip-hop music festival, debuted in Thailand in 2023. It later returned despite controversy over headliners being cancelled at the last minute before a show, according to the report.

    In February last year, organisers announced the event would return for a third year. Rolling Loud Thailand was scheduled to take place at Legend Siam in Pattaya from November 14 to 16.

    However, the festival’s official Instagram account later announced in October that the event was cancelled, citing circumstances beyond organisers’ control. The statement said all ticket buyers would receive a full refund through the platform used to purchase their tickets.

    Since TKO acquired WWE, ticket pricing has become increasingly aligned with a revenue-first philosophy. Rather than prioritising affordability to attract families and casual fans, the emphasis has shifted to maximising profit, a strategy that mirrors UFC’s premium pricing structure.

    According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, that approach may be impacting sales for upcoming major events.

    WWE Elimination Chamber is scheduled for February 28, 2026, in Chicago, a show positioned as a key stepping stone towards WrestleMania 42, particularly with its world championship implications. Despite hometown star CM Punk and the traditionally strong appeal of the Chamber stipulation, Meltzer noted that the event had not sold out.
