If we go by point differential, the dreaded metric we’ve used all season to explain why the Lakers are further from the best than their record suggests, these two teams are actually shoulder to shoulder in the rankings, at 17th and 16th.

    Lakers' Luka Doncic: Exits to locker room vs. Orlando

    Doncic exited to the locker room after the first quarter of Tuesday's game against the Magic due to an apparent eye injury, Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports.

    Doncic was poked in the eye earlier in the quarter but was able to play all 12 minutes, during which he recorded 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and one steal. If the superstar isn't able to return, Luke Kennard and Jake LaRavia would be candidates to see increased playing time.

    Inflation remained well above the Reserve Bank's target band last month, keeping pressure on the central bank to potentially hike interest rates further.

    The headline Consumer Price Index (CPI) remained at 3.8 per cent in January, unchanged from December, in seasonally adjusted terms.

    Rate hike risk for March looms large after inflation surprise

    Investors are now starting to weigh the very real possibility of an interest rate hike from the Reserve Bank of Australia when policymakers gather next month.

    That’s after yet another hot monthly inflation report from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, which showed the Consumer Price Index stuck at 3.8 per cent – well above the central bank’s 2.5 per cent target.

    Michael Lin (林昭宏), head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' (MOFA) Department of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, said Taiwan will once again join the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders Meeting to be held in Palau from Aug. 30 to Sept. 4.

    Lin did not say what Taiwan's participation would entail, but it could involve holding side events at the forum as has been the case in previous years except for 2025, when Taiwan's representatives could not even go to the Solomon Islands, which hosted last year's forum.

    Taiwan to join PIF after absence last year: MOFA

    Taiwan is to attend the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders Meeting later this year in Palau, a senior diplomat said yesterday, after it and other nonmembers of the bloc were barred from last year’s meeting.

    Department of East Asian and Pacific Affairs Director Michael Lin (林昭宏) said Taiwan would join the annual summit from Aug. 30 to Sept. 4, after Taiwan’s representatives were prevented from attending last year’s event in the Solomon Islands.

    He did not say what Taiwan’s participation would entail, but it could involve holding events on the sidelines of the forum, as it had in previous years.

    On Tuesday, Anthropic unveiled its new enterprise agents program, its most aggressive push yet to integrate agentic AI into everyday workplaces. 

    In an official briefing, Anthropic’s head of Americas, Kate Jensen, told reporters that the new system would finally deliver on the promise of agentic AI. “2025 was meant to be the year agents transformed the enterprise, but the hype turned out to be mostly premature,” Jensen said. “It wasn’t a failure of effort. It was a failure of approach.”
