‘Why would you want anything less?’ Hidden sledge in Piastri ad causes stir

The Australian F1 ace was the star of a recent Google Pixel advert which includes a subtle — but hilarious — jab at Piastri’s former team, Alpine.

Fox Sports, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every practice, qualifying session and race in the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship™ LIVE in 4K. New to Kayo? Join now and get your first month for just $1.

Piastri was in 2022 falsely announced by Alpine as its permanent driver for the 2023 season — a claim the Melburnian denied over social media.

He was ultimately proven right in a messy contract saga, and was clear to sign for McLaren, where he has now claimed several Grand Prix race wins, and was only narrowly defeated to the 2025 drivers’ championship by teammate Lando Norris.

‘Aim to maybe even lose’: Sinner’s eye-popping plan to win the Alcaraz war

Jannik Sinner is most often likened to Novak Djokovic as a dominant baseliner capable of wearing opponents down with relentless accuracy.

But last year’s US Open final was Sinner’s Roger Federer moment. Carlos Alcaraz is to Sinner who Rafael Nadal was to Federer. Before Djokovic transformed into a grand slam legend, Federer routinely destroyed almost everyone but Nadal.

What worked wonderfully against the rest of the tour was regularly not good enough when Federer faced Nadal, who won 24 of his 40 contests with “the Swiss Express”.

Two-time defending Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner is accustomed to being in control from the baseline. His service games, buoyed by 2309 career aces and counting, are close to impenetrable.

So it’s logical, then, that the world No.2 spent much of the off-season addressing the one visible weakness in his toolkit – a lack of variety which has occasionally been exposed by his primary rival, six-time major champion Carlos Alcaraz.

A 19-year-old Canadian woman found dead on the beach on a popular tourist island off the Queensland coast on Monday morning was discovered surrounded by a pack of dingoes.

But despite confirming her body had been “touched and interfered with” by the wild canids on K’gari (formerly known as Fraser Island), police say they will await a postmortem before speculating as to the cause of her death.

Wide Bay Burnett District Patrol Insp Paul Algie told reporters Monday afternoon that the young woman had been working at a backpacker hostel on the eastern beaches.

A woman has died near a popular tourist destination on K'gari, formerly known as Fraser Island.

Police Inspector Paul Algie said the 19-year-old Canadian citizen had been working at a backpacker's hostel on the island, off the south-east Queensland coast, for the past six weeks.

He said the woman's friends and coworkers told police she went swimming soon after 5am on Monday.

Two men driving along K'gari's eastern beach saw the woman's body north of the Maheno shipwreck about 6:35am and alerted emergency services.

Thoughts of an unprecedented 25th major risk becoming all-consuming for Novak Djokovic as he limbers up, locks in and prepares to launch his 21st Australian Open campaign.

At 38, the Serbian knows it is entirely counterproductive and more pertinent that he takes stock of what he has accomplished, rather than what he hasn’t – which, let’s be honest, is not much.

Ten-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic has revealed how he went into “lockdown beast mode” at the Melbourne grand slam during a reign of dominance unlike almost any other in the sport.

As he prepares to equal Roger Federer’s record 21 Australian Open main draw appearances, Djokovic professed his love for Australia and backed himself in to still conquer anyone, including Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

“No one is, no one was and no one will ever be unbeatable,” Djokovic said.

ATP Australian Open Best Bets Including Djokovic vs Martinez

Grigor Dimitrov has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Brisbane, Dimitrov lost to Collignon in straight sets. He is one of the most experienced players in the draw. Last season, Dimitrov retired against Passaro in the opening round. His most significant result was in 2017, when he lost to Nadal in the semifinals.

Tomas Machac has won four of his last five matches. He has never made it past the third round at the Australian Open. Last season, Machac lost to Djokovic in the third round in straight sets.

According to the bookies, this will be an almost 50-50 matchup, but we disagree. Dimitrov struggled with injuries for the past few seasons. On the other hand, Machac had a great run in Adelaide and enjoys playing on fast courts. We expect Machac to be a better player.

Down the back of Melbourne Park, tucked away behind John Cain Arena, is practice court 22.

This court and those near it are typically quiet at 10am on day one of the Australian Open, as fans rush to take their seats in the stadiums. But on Sunday court 22 was instead overflowing with Filipino fans desperate to catch a glimpse of their new “national hero” Alexandra Eala.
