Nearly 208,000 heated socks sold at Costco are recalled after customers report burns

Nearly 208,000 pairs of heated socks sold at Costco are being recalled after 13 reports of first- and second-degree burns, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

While the socks are designed to keep toes toasty during cold weather, they pose a burn risk when subjected to a combination of heat, friction, moisture and pressure during high-intensity activities, the recall notice said.

The 32 Degrees Heated Socks were sold at Costco stores and online at Costco.com from August 2025 through March 2026, priced from $30 to $46 per pair. The black socks were sold in three sizes — medium, large and extra large — and had the brand 32° HEAT emblazoned on the battery pack casing, battery pack packaging, user manual and exterior retail packaging.

13 Burns Spark Massive Recall Of Popular Heated Socks

More than 200,000 heated socks are being recalled after more than a dozen people suffered burn injuries, officials said.

32 Degrees is recalling about 207,806 pairs of heated socks, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, April 23. The recall involves black heated socks sold in medium, large, and extra-large sizes.

The recall was issued after reports that the socks can pose an injury hazard when worn during high-intensity activities that generate heat, excessive friction, moisture, and pressure.

The company has received 14 reports of heat-related incidents, including 13 people who suffered first- or second-degree burns, according to the CPSC.

The recalled socks were sold at Costco stores and on its website. They were available from August 2025 through March 2026, with prices ranging from $30 to $46.

500,000 Australians wait for end to 'limbo' as Butler readies NDIS plan

Mark Butler is set to outline his cost-saving plan for the NDIS. (ABC News: Matt Roberts)

Mark Butler will detail his plan to save billions in spending on the disability scheme, which continues to grow faster than what the federal government says can be sustained.

Mental health groups have urged the government to maintain supports for people with psychosocial disability and provide supports for half a million Australians left in limbo.

Mr Butler will announce the NDIS reforms at the National Press Club today.

National Disability Insurance Scheme Minister Mark Butler must end the "limbo" half a million Australians have been living in when he announces changes to the nation's disability scheme, mental health advocates say.

A $50 billion NDIS is proving too tempting for Australia’s rich-listers

As federal health minister Mark Butler prepares to announce the government’s latest attempts to reel in the extraordinary cost of Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme on Wednesday, preparations of a different sort are under way in financial markets.

Mable, an online marketplace for support workers, is reportedly exploring a potential stock market listing that could make it the first $1 billion company spawned by the $50 billion-odd scheme.

Founder Peter Scutt set up the business with a focus on finding a solution to the frustrating process of getting appropriate aged care for his parents, but business has clearly exploded with the NDIS and made the company very valuable.

Labor to tighten child NDIS eligibility to curb spending as Queensland MP warns change is ‘failing kids’

Health minister faces backlash from states as he announces major changes to scheme ahead of May budget

National disability insurance scheme service providers will be required to undergo mandatory character checks and eligibility rules will be tightened further for children under 18, as Labor moves to curb growth in the $50bn program.

But the health minister, Mark Butler, faces a backlash from state counterparts as he announces major changes on Wednesday, with Queensland accusing federal Labor of walking away from responsibilities to families dependent on long-term care.

Guardian Australia can reveal the Queensland disability minister, Amanda Camm, was blocked from attending a briefing by Butler and the treasurer, Jim Chalmers, on Tuesday. Only state and territory treasurers have been briefed on cuts ahead of the public announcement – not ministers responsible for implementing changes.

    Honda Prelude returns at $65,000

Honda has confirmed the long-awaited return of the Prelude to Australia, revealing a $65,000 drive-away price at the 2026 Melbourne motor show as the iconic coupe makes its comeback after a 25-year hiatus.

After more than two decades off the scene, the Honda Prelude returns with a very different formula to what enthusiasts may have expected.

The new-generation model adopts the Honda Civic’s 2.0-litre e:HEV hybrid system. Total system outputs sit at 147kW and 315Nm, with the electric motor delivering peak torque almost instantly.

That torque figure comfortably exceeds key rivals like the $44K Toyota GR86 (250Nm), though the Toyota edges ahead on power with 170kW.

Honda has confirmed the price of its new Prelude ahead of its arrival in Australia in the coming months where it will take on the Toyota GR86, Subaru BRZ, Nissan Z and Mazda MX-5 in a suddenly jam-packed affordable sports car category.

Available in a single grade, the Prelude is priced at $65,000, drive-away, which is cheaper than Nissan's twin-turbo V6 Z but more expensive than the other trio.

The Prelude is based on the current Honda Civic and gets the same hybrid set-up as its more family-friendly sibling.

2026 Honda Prelude to undercut Ford Mustang and Nissan Z on price

The reborn Honda Prelude sports coupe returns to Australia after more than 25 years with aggressive pricing and a point to prove.

The born-again Honda Prelude will be priced from $65,000 drive-away in Australia, undercutting the Nissan Z and Ford Mustang, with order books opening today ahead of a mid-year arrival.

Pricing for the all-new 2+2-seat hybrid coupe – which will be available in a single model grade, despite rumours of a more potent Type R version – includes any colour choice; Honda remains an outlier in not charging extra for ‘premium’ paint.

The new Prelude’s $65k price tag makes it cheaper than the Nissan Z, which starts at $76,160 before on-road costs, and also the Ford Mustang, with the turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost coupe priced from $72,990 before on-roads.

Sony Removes Over 1,000 Low-Quality Games From PlayStation Store

Low-quality games, often called “shovelware,” have been around on PC and consoles for a long time. These are games made quickly with little effort, often copying ideas from other titles. In recent years, they have become a bigger problem in digital stores like Steam and PlayStation Store.

About two months ago, Sony removed nearly 1,200 games from one of the biggest publishers of this kind of content. Now, the company has taken similar action again, removing games from two more publishers.

According to a recent report by Delisted Games, Nostra Games, a company based in Cyprus, had filled the PlayStation Store with around 700 games, many of them simulation titles. These games have now been removed.

Sony Continues To Crack Down On PS Store Shovelware By Delisting Yet More Games

Remember earlier this year when Sony brought the axe down on over 1,000 shovelware games on the PlayStation Store? Well, the format holder is stopping there, as it’s now removed hundreds of other titles that fall under the shovelware banner.

The majority of the games delisted hail from Nostra Games, a Cyprus-based development team who had lobbed nearly 700 games on Sony’s store, all of which have now been given the boot. CGI Lab has also seen its catalog delisted from the PS Store, although the didn’t have anywhere near as many titles Nostra Games.

Speaking on discord, a Nostra Games spokesperson issued a statement revealing they were in the dark as to why Sony had given their games the boot

'We'll Still Release on Switch, Xbox, and Steam': Dev Responds to Delisting as Sony Axes 1,000s More PS5, PS4 Games from PS Store

Sony is getting more and more aggressive with shovelware on the PS Store.

You may recall earlier in the year it delisted hundreds of titles from publisher ThiGames, the company behind “classics” like The Jumping Pizza.

Now it’s axed hundreds more from two more publishers, with their entire catalogues nuked overnight.

Cyprus-based studio Nostra Games’ portfolio was nowhere near as low effort as the abovementioned, but it still spammed Sony’s storefront with almost 700 games over the years, most notably sims.

Recently it hit headlines for its cat co-op game Ghostly Whiskers, which was accused of being an AI generated knock-off of Haunted Paws.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A tentative agreement has been reached between the Natomas Teachers Association and Natomas Unified School District, ending a weeklong strike that left thousands of students without their regular classroom teachers.

The strike began March 10 and concluded late Wednesday night after 12 months of bargaining and seven days on the picket line.

During the strike, classrooms remained open but were staffed by substitutes instead of regular teachers.

The strike between the community and the district escalated this week. On Monday, students joined the march, and on Tuesday, a parent was arrested after being accused of illegally entering the Natomas Unified building for a sit-in protest at the district office.
