Netflix's New 114-Episode Action Thriller Series Is Officially One of the Biggest Shows on Streaming

James Melzer is a Senior Staff Writer at MovieWeb, working remotely from Pennsylvania. He covers the hottest entertainment news, as well as the latest and greatest in streaming from around the world. James has been a regular staple at MovieWeb for almost three years, writing everything from lists and features, to breaking news and movie reviews.

Before joining MovieWeb, James covered pop culture news for a variety of different media sites, including Manolith and Real TV Addict. He also hosted a successful audio podcast, where he interviewed everyone from authors and artists, to screenwriters and actors.

Less than a week after it was added to Netflix for the very first time, the streaming giant has found a new global hit by way of a 114-episode action thriller that’s taken the platform by storm. Debuting on Aug. 18, the hit series serves as a realistic military thriller that doesn't shy away from examining things like PTSD, survivor's guilt, and the effect war has on a soldier's personal life. Some think it's even better than Special Ops: Lioness, which says a lot considering how popular the Taylor Sheridan show has become in recent years.

7-Part CBS Series That Ended in 2024 Is Suddenly Dominating on Netflix

SEAL Team is gaining renewed attention on Netflix nearly two years after the CBS military drama concluded its seven-season run. The series has entered Netflix's Top 10 TV Shows in the United States, placing it among the platform's most-watched titles. Its latest performance has brought the long-running series back into the spotlight.

SEAL Team, which ended in 2024 after seven seasons, has suddenly become a hit on Netflix. The series ranked seventh among Netflix's Top 10 TV Shows in the United States on August 23, 2026, according to FlixPatrol. It ranked ahead of titles including Conversations with a Killer: The Charles Manson Tapes, The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare, and Best Medicine.

Netflix Adds 7-Season Military Series From Dutton Ranch And Marshals Showrunners

The Taylor Sheridan-verse has been infiltrated by a Navy SEAL team. That is, CBS's "SEAL Team" creator Benjamin Cavell and former showrunner Spencer Hudnut are now overseeing "Dutton Ranch" and "Marshals," respectively. As such, fans of the "Yellowstone" spin-offs might be tempted to check out the pair's military series, and now they can do just that via Netflix. The streamer just added all seven seasons of "SEAL Team," which follows the professional and personal lives of an elite Navy SEAL unit led by David Boreanaz's Jason Hayes.

Boreanaz picked "SEAL Team" as his "Bones" follow-up, and it served him well. The show emerged in the wake of History Channel's "Six" and around the same time as NBC's "The Brave," both of which similarly focused on military units. But Cavell's series tried to set itself apart by paying special attention to authenticity. The show hired former Navy SEAL Mark Semos and former U.S. Army special operations soldier Tyler Grey to advise, and their expertise allowed "SEAL Team" to not only accurately recreate mission protocols but the personal toll warfare takes on the individuals involved as well.

    Celtics 114-98 76ers (2 Mar, 2026) Game Recap

BOSTON — — Neemias Queta scored a career-high 27 points and added 17 rebounds to help the Boston Celtics recover from a slow start and rally to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 114-98 on Sunday night.

Jaylen Brown added 27 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, and Derrick White finished with 21 points and eight assists as the Celtics became the fourth team to reach 40 victories. They have won six of seven.

It was the 11th double-double of the season for Queta, who also had three blocks. He has three double-doubles — with at least two blocks in each — over his last five games.

Philadelphia cut what was a 16-point lead by Boston in the second half to 103-97 with just over four minutes to play. But Queta scored Boston’s next eight points to put the Celtics in front 111-98 and help close it out.

Celtics Notes: Queta, Scheierman, Tatum, Vucevic

Celtics starting center Neemias Queta recently detailed his journey as the NBA’s first (and only) player from Portugal in an interview with Marc J. Spears of Andscape. Queta’s parents moved to Portugal from their native Guinea-Bissau due to the civil war that took place in the West African country in the late 1990s, Spears writes.

Queta has never been to Guinea-Bissau or to Africa, but he hopes to visit his parents’ home country with his mother “in the next couple of years.”

“They were in kind of like a refugee type of situation. It was more trying to get to that safe place and Port Portugal welcomed them,” Queta said.

Sixers Bell Ringer: 56 points from Maxey-Edgecombe duo not enough to beat Celtics

A combined 56 points from the guard duo of Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe wasn’t enough to overcome the Boston Celtics on Sunday.

The Philadelphia 76ers fell 114-98 to the Boston Celtics at TD Garden on Sunday night. It was the fourth and final meeting between the teams this regular season — they split the series 2-2.

Joel Embiid was out for this contest (as he will be for the Sixers’ next two as well) after being diagnosed with a right oblique strain. Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe tried to pick up the slack, scoring 33 and 23 points respectively, but it simply wasn’t enough to keep up with the Celtics.

Knicks 114-89 Spurs (2 Mar, 2026) Game Recap

NEW YORK — — Mikal Bridges had 25 points, Jalen Brunson scored 24 and the New York Knicks snapped the San Antonio Spurs' 11-game winning streak with a 114-89 victory on Sunday.

After going unbeaten in February, the Spurs were shut down to open March, never recovering from the Knicks' 26-2 run in the first half and losing for the first time since Jan. 31 in Charlotte.

Victor Wembanyama bounced back from two quiet offensive games with 25 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks, but a Spurs team that became the first in NBA history to go unbeaten and score at least 110 points in every game while playing at least 10 in a month fell flat after a fast start.

Jazz 116-114 Mavericks (Jan 8, 2026) Game Recap

SALT LAKE CITY — — Lauri Markkanen had 33 points and seven rebounds and the Utah Jazz snapped a five-game losing streak with a 116-114 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night.

Keyonte George added 19 points and seven assists. Brice Sensabaugh scored 14 points and Kevin Love chipped in 10 points and 10 boards.

Cooper Flagg had 29 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists to lead Dallas. Klay Thompson made six 3-pointers and scored 23 points off the bench. Anthony Davis added 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Mavs.

Utah scored 25 points off 21 Dallas turnovers and outscored the Mavericks 64-46 in the paint.

Dallas scored baskets on four straight possessions, culminating in Max Christie’s 3-pointer, to take a 107-100 lead with 4:39 left. Utah then held the Mavericks without a basket for nearly four minutes and surged into the lead.

The honest, face-the-music meeting the Jazz had about their defense, and how it helped them beat the Mavericks

On Wednesday in Oklahoma City, the Utah Jazz held a team film session prior to the morning shootaround ahead of their game against the Thunder that night.

The focus of that film session was the abysmal defense they’d played two days earlier in Portland.

“Those kind of games are embarrassing,” Brice Sensabaugh said. “As a team, we just got to buckle down.”

The Jazz’s defense has had its fair share of problems over the last couple of years even when defensive anchor Walker Kessler was healthy and on the court, but the walloping at the hands of the Trail Blazers meant that the team needed to look in the mirror.
