While Disney first entered the cruise world in 1998 with the maiden voyage of the Magic ship, the theme park and entertainment giant has, in recent years, been making significant strides to expand its cruising footprint.
The currently-expressed plan is to nearly double its fleet from seven to 13 ships by 2031. Disney newest cruise, the 6,700-passenger Disney Adventure, made its maiden voyage last March even if the rollout of the full summer sailing schedule has been plagued by multiple problems and delays.
On May 8, passengers who boarded the ship in Singapore for a four-day sailing a day prior had to disembark after one night aboard the ship over a mechanical failure with one of the ship's engines.
Disney Cruise Line cancelled the current cruise of the Disney Adventure due to a technical issue that prevented the ship from departing from its homeport in Singapore.
Guests were informed that the sailing was no longer going ahead after boarding the vessel and spending one night onboard.
As part of its series of short cruises to nowhere, the 6,000-passenger ship was scheduled to sail from the Marina Cruise Centre on May 7, 2026.
“We are truly sorry to let you know that we are unable to proceed with your Disney Adventure experience from May 7-11, 2026, as planned,” the company said in a statement shared with guests.
