    Christian authors accused in child abuse case

    Two popular Christian authors have been arrested in North Texas after being accused in a child abuse investigation. Heather and Seth Day were arrested last week in Keene, about 30 miles south of Fort Worth.

    KEENE, Texas – A North Texas couple, who are best-selling Christian authors, has been arrested following an investigation into alleged physical and sexual abuse of a child, according to the Keene Police Department.

    Seth Michael Day, 39, and Heather Marie Day, 39, both of Keene, have been booked into the Johnson County Jail.

    The case began on September 24, 2026, after a high school teacher reported an outcry of physical abuse. Investigators with the Keene Police Department and a forensic interviewer with the Johnson County Children's Advocacy Center conducted an emergency forensic interview with the victim.

    An Australian man accused of murdering a Thai teenager and putting her body in a suitcase pleaded not guilty on Friday in a hearing in the seaside resort city of Pattaya, a court official said.

    Simon Peter Carman, 45, was arrested in June after 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla was reported missing in Pattaya City, about 150km south-east of Bangkok. A suitcase containing her body was found shortly after.

    Carman appeared on Friday at Pattaya provincial court, where he pleaded not guilty to all charges, a court spokesperson said.

    Middle-aged Aussie accused of killing teen Thai sex worker claims self-defense: ‘Out of my control’

    A 45-year-old Australian man accused of murdering a teen girl in Thailand and stuffing her naked body in a suitcase says he was forced to kill her in self-defense. Ballarat-born Simon Peter Carman pleaded not guilty Friday to a raft of charges, including murder, after the body of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla was found crammed inside black luggage in the tourist enclave of Pattaya in June.Carman picked up the teen for sex, strangled her in his Pattaya apartment, then went about his day as if nothing happened — all while texting another sex worker, prosecutors said.

    The middle-aged Aussie denied the charges, which include concealing and moving a body, and abducting a minor for indecent purposes, the Pattaya Provincial Court said in a press release.He claims he acted in self-defense because she pulled a knife on him and did not know the girl’s real age.In a previously reported video message to Donhomla’s parents, Carman said he felt bad “for what happened” but that it was “out of my control.

    The Daily Mail newspaper secretly tailed and photographed a woman in Detroit and then published an article and photographs falsely accusing her of being former The White Stripes drummer Meg White, even after she told the newspaper it had mistaken her identity, multiple sources have told the Guardian.

    The rightwing British tabloid quietly removed the article and photographs, first published on 6 August, from its website last week. The Mail did not issue a correction or editor’s note explaining the removal.

    The Daily Mail apparently went looking for the famously private Meg White and found someone else entirely.

    According to a new report from The Guardian, the British tabloid followed and secretly photographed a Detroit woman it believed to be the former White Stripes drummer, then published more than a dozen photos of her in a story promising to reveal White’s “secret new life.” There was just one problem: multiple people close to White say the woman wasn’t her.

    In fact, the woman reportedly told the Daily Mail exactly that. When a reporter eventually approached her and identified her as White, she laughed and said they had the wrong person. That didn’t end the investigation. The publication took her subsequent “thank you” after being complimented on The White Stripes’ music as evidence that it had found its target.

    Academic who accused Jason Arday of plagiarism suspended by university

    An academic who accused the late Cambridge professor Jason Arday of plagiarism has been suspended from his post at a Belgian university.

    Nathan Cofnas, a self-defined "race realist", was among those to question Arday's work and achievements – prompting a weeks-long plagiarism row prior to his death on 14 August.

    Cofnas said he was under investigation by Ghent University "for discriminating against Arday".

    The university said a staff member had been notified of a "preliminary disciplinary investigation" and suspended as a precaution.

    In a statement regarding Arday's death, its rector Petra De Sutter and vice-rector Herwig Reynaert said they took "recent public statements made by a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University regarding this matter very seriously", and had taken "appropriate action".

    The death of Professor Jason Arday has left many of us with a profound sense of sadness. For Black academics in particular, his loss feels deeply personal. Jason represented possibility – a reminder of what could be achieved despite the barriers that continue to shape Black people’s experiences in education.

    I had the privilege of knowing Jason and welcoming him to speak to scholars on the Accomplished Study Programme in Research Excellence (Aspire), which was set up to address the underrepresentation of Black students progressing into doctoral education.

    Jason had been facing accusations of plagiarism and resigned from his position at the University of Cambridge. He was found dead on August 14 2026.

    University suspends US academic leading Jason Arday plagiarism accusations

    Researcher Nathan Cofnas, an outspoken critic of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), was himself sacked from Cambridge in 2024 over his views on race.

    A Belgian university has suspended an American academic who led accusations of plagiarism against Jason Arday, the Black ex-Cambridge professor who died last week amid scrutiny many have labelled “racist“.

    Arday had resigned from his post as professor of sociology at the University of Cambridge in early August over the scandal and the public scrutiny mounting against him.

    Researcher Nathan Cofnas – a self-defined “race realist” who was himself sacked from his job at Cambridge in 2024 over his views on race – posted on X on Thursday: “I was just suspended by Ghent University. They will almost certainly fire me.”

    Child marriage is currently legal in 34 states across America, and 4 of those states do not require any minimum age for marriage, with a parental or judicial waiver. Three years ago, California rejected a bill that would have banned child marriage. Campaigners are pushing for the implementation of AB 1267, a bill that would ban all child marriages in the state, requiring a minimum age of 18. One of the campaigners leading the charge is Courtney Stodden, someone who, unfortunately, knows all about being married off as a teen.

    At the age of 16, Stodden was married to Doug Hutchison, an actor who was, at the time, 51 years old. Rather than be terrified for the fate of an adolescent who seemed to be an obvious victim of , pop culture and the media mocked Stodden. They smeared Stodden as a slut, an attention seeker, and the conniving schemer who somehow tricked poor 51-year-old Doug into marrying her. Even by the low standards of 2010s media failings we all regret, this one was ghoulish (I wrote about it here!) Stodden is now 31, married to someone who isn't a loser pervert, and they're speaking out over the nightmare of that marriage. When the divorce was announced in 2020, they said that they felt "absolutely taken advantage of" and "groomed" by Hutchison. And they want everyone to know just how humiliating it was to be objectified and mocked as a literal child bride.

    The radio giant lodged an amended defence to the claims made by Henderson in her Federal Court lawsuit alleging she was unfairly sacked after refusing to work with co-host Kyle Sandilands.

    Henderson claims she was unlawfully sacked from her $100 million hosting gig on KIIS FM earlier in 2026 and is expected to give evidence of subsequent damage to her health and wellbeing.

    In the new defence made public by the court on Thursday, ARN argues Henderson’s threats to initiate a workplace bullying claim with SafeWork NSW were not made in line with workplace law.

    The Australian Radio Network (ARN) has made fresh allegations against former KISS FM star Jackie O Henderson, claiming her workplace bullying complaint was "not done in good faith" and used as part of an effort to get out of her contract.

    Henderson and co-host Kyle Sandilands have been embroiled in a months-long legal dispute with ARN over the termination of their contracts. 

    Sandilands settled his case in June for a multi-million dollar payout. Henderson is suing ARN Media for wrongful termination of her contract and breach of a share loan agreement, and is seeking more than $82 million in compensation.

    Two people have been arrested at a protest outside Parliament House just hours after Queensland’s new hate speech laws came into effect.

    Shortly after 12.30pm on Wednesday, officers arrested a 33-year-old man at Speakers’ Corner for allegedly uttering a banned phrase during what police confirmed was an unauthorised pro-Palestine protest.

    Footage from the scene shows the man – understood to be a pro-Palestinian activist addressing the crowd ahead of a march – being arrested as the group begins to move.

    Officers later arrested an 18-year-old woman, Bonnie Carter, at King George Square for allegedly wearing a shirt displaying a banned phrase.

    Two men have been charged over the alleged kidnapping and murder of Sydney grandfather Chris Baghsarian.

    The 85-year-old was abducted from his home in North Ryde at 5am on February 13, in what police believe was a case of mistaken identity.

    Gerard Andrews, 29, and Daniel Stevens, 24, did not apply for bail when they fronted court on Thursday.

    A lawyer for one of the men charged over the kidnapping and murder of Sydney grandfather Chris Baghsarian says his client is "no mastermind".

    The 85-year-old was abducted from his home in North Ryde in the early hours of February 13, in what police believe was a case of mistaken identity.
