Case accusing Ticketmaster of abusive pricing moves forward
MONTREAL — A class-action lawsuit against Ticketmaster has been approved by the Quebec Superior Court, allowing consumers in the Canadian province to sue over what they call “abusive” service fees on ticket sales. The case now can move forward to a full trial to decide whether the company must pay refunds or damages to affected customers.
The lawsuit was first filed in August 2024 by Montreal law firm Paquette Gadler Inc. on behalf of a Montreal man, Felipe Morales, who says he was charged high fees when buying event tickets on Ticketmaster. The legal team is seeking to represent other Quebec residents who bought tickets through Ticketmaster for North American shows since July 2021.
