India 0-5 Australia Highlights, AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026: Young Tigresses Eliminated After Defeat Against Matildas

Australia make it 5-0 before securing pole position in Group C and India's campaign has unfortunately come to an end. These girls didn't even put up a fight. Serious changes needed in Indian football. An overhaul would be the best thing but for now – India 0-5 Australia.

We are hearing 5 minutes will be added on to the clock for the final 45 minutes and India are surely exiting the competition after this loss. The 4 goals today means the Young Tigresses have conceded 10 goals in two matches. They conceded 6 against Japan in their AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup 2026 opener.

What a blistering run from Butrus! She bursts through the defense with pace and precision before calmly finishing past the keeper. Australia are running riot now as they extend their lead to a commanding 4-0.

Young Tigresses Aim for FIFA World Cup Breakthrough

The Indian Under-20 women's football team, known as the Young Tigresses, is eagerly preparing to secure a coveted spot in the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Poland 2026. They face a formidable challenge as they start their campaign on Thursday in the AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup against six-time champions, Japan.

Coach Joakim Alexandersson has instilled confidence in the team, which is returning to the continental stage after a 20-year hiatus. After finishing top in their qualifiers last August, the team is determined to overcome strong competition from teams like Japan, Australia, and Chinese Taipei, in Group C.

India's rigorous preparation included friendly matches and a training camp in Sweden. The opening match against Japan, a team with an impressive track record, will be a tough test. The game is set for 6.30pm IST at Thammasat Stadium and will be streamed live on FanCode.

After 20 years, India U20 played their first Asian Cup match on Thursday, April 2 at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026 at the Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani, Thailand. India’s U20 women’s national team played their tournament opener against Japan which they had lost decisively by 0-6. Thoibisana Chanu Toijam, Miki Kimura, Noa Fukushima, Natsumi Tago, Miyu Matsunaga, and Yura Honda, were the Japanese goal scorers.

The Indians had a good start early on, with Shubhangi Singh and Sulanjana Raul who were trying to set up Sibani Devi Nongmeikapam but failed. Stephen A. Smith sounds off on the ramifications of the Patriots losing to Broncos QB Jarrett Stidham, who hasn't thrown a pass in two years. (1:33)

The NFL playoffs' conference championship round for the 2025 season has two great matchups, and we have you covered with what you need to know for both.

First, Patriots QB Drake Maye heads on the road for the first time in the playoffs to face a Broncos team that will be without QB Bo Nix (ankle) in the AFC title game. And then the weekend caps off with an NFC West battle between the surging Rams and Seahawks for the chance to go to the Super Bowl.

Here’s everything you need to know about Sunday’s NFL conference championship games

The theme of the 2025 NFL playoffs has been “out with the old,” with Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow all watching from home. That theme continues in the conference championship round — for the first time in 14 years, all four participants are new from the previous season, as the Broncos host the Patriots and the Seahawks host the Rams.

â–ª First some of the factoids: the Broncos are 4-1 all-time against the Patriots in the postseason, including 4-0 in Denver; the Patriots have 39 all-time postseason wins, tied with the 49ers for most in the NFL; the Broncos are looking for their ninth Super Bowl appearance, which would be second-most behind the Patriots (11).

NFL Championship Sunday bold predictions: Jarrett Stidham bests Drake Maye; Rashid Shaheed explodes

Jarrett Stidham outduels Drake Maye to send Broncos to Super Bowl

Stidham has not thrown a pass in a real game since Week 18 of the 2023 season, which might not engender a ton of confidence among those outside of the Broncos facility. But the Bo Nix replacement rises to the occasion and throws for 300 yards and three touchdowns, outplaying New England's MVP candidate to send Denver to the Super Bowl a decade after the franchise lifted its third Lombardi Trophy.

The always-dangerous Shaheed got the Seahawks off to a hot start last week with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. He takes advantage of the Rams' special teams woes and returns another kick for a score this week. But the electric speed merchant doesn’t stop there. Los Angeles also has struggled against out-wide receivers and defending the deep ball. Shaheed exploits that and adds a touchdown reception of 40-plus yards.

U23s narrowly defeated in second AFC U23 Asian Cup™ group stage game

The Olyroos thought they had snatched a point deep into extra time when Giuseppe Bovalina bundled the ball over the line at the back post, but a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review showed the Australian's hand touched the ball and the goal was disallowed.

Head coach Tony Vidmar made three changes from the opening game against Thailand, with Manchester United's James Overy and Perth Glory duo Nathanael Blair and Kaelan Majekodunmi making their first starts of the tournament.

The young Aussies dominated possession of the ball for the first half hour but were unable to create chances against a resolute China PR defence. Tony Vidmar's men started to penetrate their opposing penalty box ten minutes out from half time when a marauding run from Aydan Hammond ended with a collision in the area, but the referee dismissed penalty appeals from the Australians.

Late Olyroos drama as VAR rules out 94th minute equaliser in frustrating defeat to China, must win match looms

Giuseppe Bovalina had an equalising goal disallowed in the fourth minute of stoppage time as the Olyroos desperately tried to salvage a point in their Under-23s Asian Cup clash with China.

Bovalina, a second half substitute, thought he’d bundled home a wicked Ethan Alagich cross but replays clearly showed he had handled the ball after a ricochet off China’s goalkeeper, keeping the score at 1-0.

The disallowed goal capped a frustrating afternoon for Tony Vidmar’s side, whose historic goal scoring woes in recent Under-23 tournaments returned as they were unable to break down a stubborn Chinese rear guard.
