Ben Affleck Captures $1 Million on 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,' a Year After Matt Damon Wins Prize
Ben Affleck and Jeopardy! champion Jamie Ding triumphed on Wednesday’s episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire — winning $1 million for charity. The win arrives a year after his Good Will Hunting co-star and longtime collaborator Matt Damon also took the top prize.
In a dramatic moment, Affleck and Ding were faced with the final question and challenged to correctly guess which turkeys were not pardoned a U.S. president (a Thanksgiving tradition by formalized by President George H.W. Bush in 1989). Choosing between Peanut Butter & Jelly, Tater & Tot, Mac & Cheese, and Spaghetti & Meatball, the duo called on host Jimmy Kimmel as their lifeline. When Kimmel hesitated when guessing Spaghetti & Meatball, Affleck and Ding called upon Ding’s trivia partner Stephen Morrison, who opted not to answer. Left with little to go on, the pair went with Kimmel’s reluctant guess. “I would bet on Jimmy,” Affleck said. “I would go for it.”

Ben Affleck Wins ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ For His Eastern Congo Initiative, Along With Jamie Ding
Ben Affleck‘s nonprofit Eastern Congo Initiative was the real winner during the two-part conclusion of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
On Wednesday, the 2x Oscar winner teamed up with Jeopardy champ Jamie Ding to bring the ABC game show’s big prize home to his charity, the first U.S.-based advocacy and grant-making organization dedicated to supporting the people of eastern Congo.
The duo made it to the million-dollar question when they opted to use their Ask-the-Host lifeline on Jimmy Kimmel, as well as their Phone-a-Friend, neither of whom was sure of the answer. They ultimately went with Kimmel’s answer, which proved to be correct.
