    The homeowners rushed outside and saw a hot-air balloon with a basket of about a dozen people landing on their lawn. This video was broadcast for the NBC4 News at 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

    A Temecula couple got quite the surprise visit in their backyard Saturday morning.

    Hunter and Jenna Perrin were watching TV and doing yoga in their home off Temecula Parkway when they received a notification from their camera system, which had detected movement in the backyard at around 8:30 a.m. Then, they heard a knock at the door.

    "I opened the door, and he goes, 'They just landed in your backyard.' And I was like, 'What do you mean?' And he goes, 'The balloon,'" Hunter Perrin told NBC Los Angeles.

    Netball returns to free-to-air TV as new broadcaster revealed

    Nine Entertainment Co has won the broadcast and streaming rights for Australian netball until the end of 2031 as the sport comes out from behind a paywall for the first time in five years.

    The deal with Netball Australia gives Nine, owner of this masthead, access to all Australian Diamonds matches, the Super Netball competition and next year’s World Cup in Sydney, where the Diamonds will defend their title on home soil.

    The sport will be shown across the Nine Network, 9Now and streaming service Stan. The new deal kicks in from January 1, 2027, after DAZN-owned Foxtel’s $35 million, five-year broadcast partnership expires.

    New broadcast deal delivers for fans

    Netball Australia has today announced a five-year media rights partnership with Nine, securing netball's largest ever free-to-air footprint.

    WHERE Live across one or more of the 9Network, 9Now and Stan Sport.

    Under the five-year agreement from 2027 to 2031, Nine will broadcast every Suncorp Super Netball match and all Australian Diamonds matches across one or more of the 9Network, 9Now and Stan Sport. Nine will also showcase the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027.

    Reuters: An Air Canada Express plane has collided with a ground vehicle at New York’s La Guardia Airport, flight tracking website FlightRadar24 has said in a post on X.

    The US Federal Aviation Administration has issued a ground stop for all planes at the airport, according to a notice from the regulator.

    Video posted on social media showed the aircraft stopped on the runway with its nose in the air and significant damage to the cockpit. An eyewitness in the video states the aircraft’s nose lifted after passengers were evacuated from the plane.

    An Air Canada Express aircraft collided with a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport in New York City, United States, on Sunday night (local time). The aircraft involved in the accident was reported to be a Bombardier CRJ-900. Several people were injured in the crash.

    There are no reports of any casualties so far. The injured were rushed to a hospital. The incident took place on Runway 4 of the airport. All flight operations have been suspended by the airport after the collision. The video of the incident also surfaced online. In the clip, authorities could be seen carrying out a rescue operation. However, Times Now could not independently verify he authenticity of the video.

    Air quality alert issued for wildfire smoke in Colorado

    DENVER — Winds are blowing wildfire smoke from Nebraska into parts of Colorado on Friday, leading to air quality concerns.

    A large wildfire in central Nebraska forced people out of their homes late Thursday and early Friday. The National Weather Service in Hastings issued the evacuation order for the town of Farnam and southwest Dawson County in Nebraska.

    The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team said that the winds shifted Friday morning in northeastern Colorado, dragging in the smell of smoke blowing from the east.

    The Greeley Fire Department said Friday that it had received many reports of smoke in the area and confirmed that there are no active fires within the city.

    If you went outside to survey the neighborhood wind damage and noticed it was hazy or smoky, the National Weather Service says it's likely due to wildfires in another state.

    Several fires broke out March 12 in Nebraska, according to local media reports.

    That smoke moved into northeastern Colorado early the morning of March 13, the NWS in Boulder posted on X.com.

    In Fort Collins, Poudre Fire Authority did respond to two small wildfires west of Horsetooth Reservoir just before 6:30 a.m., it posted on X.com. But it said it was releasing some units after its initial review of the fires.

    Thousands in Colorado Advised To Stay Indoors

    Thousands of residents across southeastern Colorado are being urged to stay indoors as lingering wildfire smoke prompts an overnight air quality health advisory.

    Wildfire smoke has become a recurring public health concern as changing climate conditions drive more frequent and intense fire seasons. 

    State health officials issued an air quality health advisory Friday afternoon as wildfire smoke spread across wide areas of southeastern Colorado.

    The alert, released by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, is in effect from 4 p.m. Friday through 9 a.m. Saturday.

    Counties included in the advisory are Kit Carson, Cheyenne, Kiowa, Crowley, Otero, Bent, Prowers, and Pueblo. Affected communities include Burlington, Cheyenne Wells, Eads, Ordway, La Junta, Las Animas, Lamar, and Pueblo.

    Turkish Korkut Air Defense System to Use Tatra Chassis and Be Localized in Czechia and Slovakia

    Czech defense company Excalibur International, part of the Czechoslovak Group (CSG), and Turkish electronics manufacturer Aselsan have signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

    The partners will establish a joint venture to expand their defense capabilities in the European and global markets.

    The main focus will be on technical cooperation in areas such as air defense, electronic warfare, smart ammunition, and border security.

    One of the first results of the partnership was the integration of the Korkut air defense system on the Tatra Force 6×6 wheeled platform. As part of localization, production is planned to be transferred to CSG facilities located in the Czechia and Slovakia.

    Sydney Airport in chaos as air traffic staff shortages hits flights

    Dozens of flights at the country’s busiest airport have been cancelled on Thursday in the worst disruption to air travel since the pandemic, as an acute shortage of air traffic control staff created havoc for Qantas and Virgin Australia.

    Many other flights were delayed, with some aircraft forced to wait on the tarmac at Sydney Airport for two hours, issues that Airservices Australia, which runs air traffic control, blamed on a smaller team.

    Dozens of domestic flights at Sydney Airport are cancelled and several others will face hours-long delays because of a shortage of air traffic control staff.

Cathay Group CEO Ronald Lam said the airline continues to regard Air China as a core strategic shareholder despite the reduction in equity.

    Gelonghui, January 6 | In an announcement on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on the morning of January 6, Cathay Pacific Airways proposed to conduct an off-market share repurchase. As of January 5, 2026 (after trading hours): Air China has informed the company that it has entered into a share placement agreement to sell 108,080,000 shares, and the sale is expected to be completed prior to the convening of an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders; Air China and the company have also signed an amended and restated deed to revise and restate the irrevocable commitment previously signed by Air China in favor of the company, reflecting Air China’s shareholding after the completion of the sale. Upon the completion of the sale and the share repurchase, assuming no other changes to the issued shares of the company, (i) Swire Group’s shareholding will increase from approximately 43.09% as of the date of this announcement to approximately 47.65%; and (ii) Air China’s shareholding will increase from approximately 27.11% (the shareholding percentage after the completion of the sale) to approximately 29.98%.
