Hay drive organiser Eddie White was on Friday morning, January 23, unloading hay at the Allansford industrial estate, with 10 to 13 trucks to load that afternoon.

"We are still in the process of organising trucks and hay, but it looks like we'll have 40 trucks, and half of those will be B-doubles," he said.

East Gippsland Water has donated 100 bales of desperately needed silage hay to farmers in the Longwood region who were recently affected by devastating bushfires.

The silage was grown, harvested and baled at East Gippsland Water’s Bruce’s Track property, near Swan Reach.

The site acts as a major facility for the storage and reuse of recycled water, which is used to irrigate hay-producing pasture.

It is part of a 479-hectare area managed for sustainable water reuse.
