Oppo announces the Find X9 Ultra with a 50MP 10x optical zoom telephoto camera

Elbowing for attention alongside Vivo and Xiaomi, Oppo has finally launched its long-teased “ultra” version of its flagship smartphone. The Find X9 Ultra is another camera-first smartphone from Oppo, with an even more impressive spec sheet and a new array of accessories. We’re not even halfway through 2026 and we’ve been spoiled with choices, whether it’s the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra (with or without Leica livery) or Vivo’s X300 Ultra.

The Find X9 Pro was already a powerful, capable camera phone. So, what’s changed with the Ultra? We’ve had the base device for over a week, but we’re waiting on the upgraded telephoto converter kit to land before we tackle a more in-depth review.

While there are a ton of different things I care about on my smartphone, the camera is a huge deciding factor. And, for a long time, Google Pixel has been my go-to thanks to its consistency and ease of shooting, but after a week with Oppo Find X9 Ultra, I think I might be carrying a new phone.

Smartphone cameras are all pretty good nowadays, but options in the US and most global markets are quite a ways behind what some brands in China have been cooking up. While Samsung’s definition of “Ultra” is to release the same phone for four generations in a row, the same branding usually means some crazy camera specs from those other brands.

MasterChef's Andy Allen announces arrival of first child: 'Our perfect little boy'

Andy Allen has just dished up some very exciting news: he's a dad!

The MasterChef Australia judge and his wife Alexandra have welcomed their first child, a son named Jude Jackson Allen.

"Our perfect little boy was welcomed into the world on April 13th," the couple announced in a joint Instagram post.

"Couldn't be more proud of what we've created, we love you so much already!"

The Allens, who married in 2022, shared two photos – one of their newborn asleep and one of the couple holding him.

The couple had announced their pregnancy news in November, writing, "We've been cooking up something pretty special."

Multi-BRIT Award nominee Oliva Dean announces five new dates for her recently announced UK tour, including an additional Manchester Co-Op Live date, adding thousands of tickets to a tour already primed as her biggest and most adventurous to date.

The tour will now commence at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on April 22nd, stopping there for two nights before performing two nights at Manchester’s Co-op Live and finishing the British run with four huge shows at The O2 in London.

The successes keep piling up for Olivia, when she became the first British artist of 2025 to land three tracks inside the top twenty simultaneously, with Man I Need, Nice To Each Other and Rein Me In with Sam Fender all appearing; as well as single Lady Lady breaking the top forty for the first time.

During the first week of Marvin's new show on Hits Radio, he and Olivia spoke about her influences growing up, her upcoming tour, a third album, and which reality TV show she could see herself taking part in.

They also spoke about her experience at The BRIT Awards 2026, having previously attended in 2016 when she attended BRIT School, which are produced several famous artists including Adele, RAYE and and Jessie J.

Trump announces Strait of Hormuz blockade after US-Iran peace talks end

US Navy to enforce blockade, Trump says after condemning Iran for blocking waterway and complaining no agreement reached in Islamabad.

President Donald Trump says the United States Navy will begin blockading the Strait of Hormuz “immediately” after peace talks between the US and Iran in Pakistan ended without an agreement.

Trump, in a social media post on Sunday, accused Iran of “extortion” and said the US Navy would hunt down and interdict ships in international waters that have paid Iran a toll to traverse the strait.

“So, there you have it, the meeting went well, most points were agreed to, but the only point that really mattered, NUCLEAR, was not,” Trump said. “Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz.”

Jetstar announces first direct Christchurch-Perth route

Jetstar has announced the first Christchurch-Perth direct service, with flights starting later this year.

Christchurch Airport and Jetstar said the non-stop service would add more than 30,000 seats next summer.

The new route will initially run from October 27 to March next year, flying three times a week.

Flights from
Perth will take about six hours and 10 minutes, and those from Christchurch about seven hours and 15 minutes.

Christchurch Airport said the service could make Perth a good option for people wanting to fly on directly to Bali, Delhi, Johannesburg, London, Paris or Rome with Jetstar’s stablemate Qantas.

Over 3,000 Miles: Jetstar Reveals New Long-Haul Airbus A321LR Route

Brand new international flights between Western Australia and New Zealand's South Island are set to take off from October this year. This will mark the first time that Jetstar has served this route, and it will reconnect Perth to Christchurch after Air New Zealand shelved its seasonal service between the two cities in 2019.

Jetstar announced its intentions to serve Christchurch from Perth on March 2, with the airline planning to deploy its Airbus A321LR on the route seasonally between October and March (the Southern Hemisphere summer season), with capacity to seat up to 232 passengers in an all-economy class layout.

Jetstar will add 30,000 seats from October 27 through to March 27, with its new South Island service departing from Perth and Christchurch on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The Perth to Christchurch service will take six hours, ten minutes gate to gate, while the return flight will amount to seven hours, 15 minutes in total.
