Ex-Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa is Alive; Viral Death Rumors debunked

ISLAMABAD – Several social media posts claiming that former Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has passed away, and these reports turned to be another propaganda.

Fact-checkers identified that an Indo-Afghan X account operating from Kabul has been spreading this misinformation, falsely reporting his death.

Sources said Bajwa, 65, is alive and in good health. The confusion appears to stem from a real incident in February 2026, when he suffered a fall in his bathroom at his Rawalpindi residence. He slipped in wee hours, sustaining head injuries that required hospitalization.

Bajwa was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), initially in the ICU, and underwent treatment for his injuries. Some reports mentioned hairline skull fractures or fainting caused by a heart block-related issue, but his condition was stable.

Smith replaced Jake Weatherald, who had just been dismissed, and was met by a drone of boos from the Barmy Army, before Australian fans overpowered the jeers.

The tune "we saw you cry on the tele" also rang out through the Melbourne Cricket Ground in what was a similar reaction to what Smith copped earlier in the series.

However, this time around the reception for Smith drew the ire of former England skipper Michael Vaughan, who isn't a fan of the disrespect.

England cricket's most parochial fans, the Barmy Army, will once again descend on Adelaide Oval this Friday for The Ashes.

It all began as an idea on the hill back in the 90s, exploding via a Hindley Street t-shirt shop.

Andy Stockings from the Adelaide Barmy Army said to Sonya Feldhoff & Rory McClaren, "We missed out four years ago, so everyone's got all their money saved up".
