    8 new emojis arrive in Apple iOS 26.4 update for iPhone users

    Apple iPhone users have eight new emojis to blast at their friends, and new features in Apple Music to enjoy.

    Those new emojis and other features are in iOS and iPadOS 26.4 updates, now available to device users.

    In its official release notes for the software updates, Apple lists 13 enhancements, including new Playlist Playground and Concerts features in Apple Music, eight new emojis, and several other improvements, such as improved keyboard accuracy for fast typists, and the always-needed iPhone bug fixes and security updates.

    iPhone software beta testers were able to download iOS 26.4 on March 21, according to 9to5Mac, a few days before all users got the update.

    Apple released iOS 26.4 on Tuesday, bringing a wide range of new features, quality-of-life improvements, and numerous security patches.

    The release touches nearly every corner of the operating system — from the Music and Podcasts apps to the kernel — and includes changes that will be noticeable to casual users and security-conscious ones alike. The update is available for iPhone 11 and later and iPad models going back to the iPad Air 3rd generation, iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation, iPad 8th generation, and iPad mini 5th generation.

    Music lovers have a few reasons to update. A new Playlist Playground feature lets Apple Music generate a 25-song playlist from a text prompt, with the option to refine the results with follow-up prompts. The feature is currently available only in the US.

    The first group of Australians stranded in the Middle East after war erupted in the region has been successfully repatriated to Sydney, marking the start of a complex return operation for the 115,000 travellers and expats still without an escape route from the intensifying conflict.

    The Australians arrived to a large media pack at the Sydney Airport arrivals hall on Wednesday night, more than 12 hours after over 200 passengers departed Dubai on Emirates flight EK414 – the first commercial flight from the Middle East to Australia since the conflict began.

    Among the returning Australians was a robotics team from Barker College, a private school on Sydney’s north shore. The group had been scheduled to compete in a global tournament in Istanbul.
