    Live: Prominent athlete tells court Alan Jones kissed him twice without consent

    A prominent athlete, known as Complainant M, is giving evidence in the Alan Jones trial in a closed session of the NSW Local Court in Sydney.

    Mr Jones is charged with one count of indecent assault and one count of sexual touching in relation to the complainant, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

    The 85-year-old former radio broadcaster has pleaded not guilty to a total of 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching in this trial.

    A prominent athlete was left in "disbelief" after Alan Jones kissed him without consent at a public event before the veteran broadcaster sent him a text message saying, "I hope you can feel my kisses darling", a court has heard.

    A prominent athlete froze and was “shocked and embarrassed” when Alan Jones kissed him on the side of his mouth at a public event, the broadcaster’s trial at Sydney’s Downing Centre has heard.

    The witness said the kiss on the corner of his lips happened years after Jones sent him a weekly bouquet of flowers after he had complimented the flowers on Jones’s dining table. He said Jones’s driver would drop the flowers at his home every week.

    Two-time Olympian Lisa Barbelin named Athlete Role Model for Dakar 2026

    Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist Lisa Barbelin has been appointed as an Athlete Role Model for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, joining a group of Olympians and international athletes selected to mentor and inspire young competitors at the event.

    The programme has been a key part of every edition of the Youth Olympic Games since the inaugural edition in Singapore in 2010.

    “It is such an honour for me to become Athlete Role Model for Dakar 2026,” said Barbelin. “I’m really excited to start and to take part in the event.”

    As part of the programme, Athlete Role Models share their experience with young athletes both on and off the field of play, while also participating in workshops and educational activities during the Games.

    Shooters kill three people at San Diego mosque in suspected hate crime

    Five people are dead, including two teenage suspects, after a shooting at a San Diego mosque, which police are treating as a hate crime.

    The three male victims include a security guard at the Islamic Center of San Diego, the county's largest mosque.

    Police said the male suspects, aged 17 and 19, were found dead from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds in a vehicle nearby.

    Two teenage gunmen opened fire at San Diego's largest mosque, killing three men before they were later found dead, police say.

    San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl said one of the victims was a security guard at the mosque.
