He is a major hope for the World Cup: the superstar is missing from Germany’s squad for the friendlies at the end of March

Despite a long spell on the sidelines due to injury, Jamal Musiala is one of the DFB team’s main hopes for the World Cup. However, he is now set to miss some key friendlies.

Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann has omitted Bayern Munich midfield star Jamal Musiala from his squad for the friendlies against Switzerland and Ghana at the end of March. This was confirmed by Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl following the Munich side’s 4-1 victory over Atalanta Bergamo on Wednesday evening. Sky and Bild had previously reported the same story.

Due to Musiala’s current injury problems, it was decided, in consultation with FCB and the medical teams involved, not to select the 23-year-old. “He has now completed a week of rehabilitation. Vincent (Bayern coach Vincent Kompany; editor’s note) and Julian (Nagelsmann) are also in contact. He is injured; he will not be travelling to join the national team, but will focus on getting fit. Hopefully, after the international break, he will be fit again to play with us in April and get himself into World Cup shape,” Eberl told DAZN.

Hornets' LaMelo Ball: Paces team with 22 points

Ball notched 22 points (9-19 FG, 4-12 3Pt), seven rebounds and six assists in 33 minutes during Sunday's 111-99 loss to Phoenix.

The Hornets are miraculously in Play-In territory, but they were unable to get much going against the Suns. Ball did the heavy lifting while Brandon Miller struggled to find the bottom of the basket, and the former recorded another 20-plus point total after three consecutive games where he failed to reach that milestone.

Troubling Stat Reveals Unfortunate Hole in LaMelo Ball's Game

Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball has a pretty well-rounded game on offense. He can score from different areas on the floor, although he's not so much a midrange shooter. Still, he does a lot on that end of the floor, but there's still one major flaw.

In tonight's loss, LaMelo Ball attempted 0 FTA for the 16th time this season. That's more than SGA, Anthony Edwards, Devin Booker, Steph Curry, Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Maxey, Donovan Mitchell, Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, Cade Cunningham, Jamal Murray, and Jaylen Brown…combined. pic.twitter.com/Ym29KOGrsg

Last time out, Ball recorded zero free throws. That seems impossible for the lead guard of one of the most prolific offenses in the NBA, but it's not. In fact, it's the 16th time it has happened this season.

Inspired bowling and a 14-ball fifty by opener Abhishek Sharma led India to a crushing eight-wicket series-clinching win over New Zealand in the third T20 international on Sunday (times local).

Pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah with figures of 3-17 and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi (2-18) kept New Zealand down to 153-9 after India elected to field first in Guwahati.

Left-handed Abhishek then hit an unbeaten 20-ball 68 and skipper Suryakumar Yadav made 57 not out as India romped home with 10 overs to spare to take an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

India have taken a 3-0 T20I series lead against New Zealand (3:03)

14 Number of balls that Abhishek Sharma needed to reach fifty in the third T20I against New Zealand in Guwahati, the second-fastest for India in T20Is. The fastest is Yuvraj Singh's 12-ball fifty, in the 2007 World T20, against England in Durban. Abhishek's 14-ball fifty is also the quickest by any batter against New Zealand.

3 Number of instances of Abhishek reaching his fifty within the powerplay. Both the previous instances came in 2025: against England in Mumbai, and against Sri Lanka in Dubai. He is only the second batter in men's T20Is with three powerplay fifties (where ball-by-ball data is available). Eswatini's Adil Butt also has three such fifties, all in consecutive innings against Mozambique in September 2025.

Why Is the Ball Is Dropping Twice on New Year's Eve?

Normally, every year, New Yorkers will gather in Times Square on New Year's Eve to watch the Constellation Ball drop from the iconic One Times Square building. This celebratory moment signifies the start of a new year.

However, on Jan. 1, New Yorkers might be surprised to see that there'll be two ball drops instead of one.

In honor of the nation's upcoming 250th anniversary of when the Declaration of Independence was signed, the Times Square Alliance — a group that organizes the annual ball drop — decided it would be best to include a second one in the night.

The Alliance has also been working with America250, a nonpartisan body that Congress established in 2016 for the upcoming anniversary, to put the whole event together.

What's new about the 2026 NYE ball in Times Square

After midnight strikes, revelers ringing in 2026 at Times Square will get a second treat as red, white and blue confetti rain down to usher in America's 250th anniversary.

The nonpartisan organization America250 is teaming up with One Times Square to kick off the semiquincentennial celebration in 2026, which will mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

"What better way to ring in 2026 with the iconic global countdown in Times Square," Rosie Rios, the chair of America250, said in an interview that aired on "Good Morning America" Friday.

Along with the special confetti, which will kick off at about 12:04 a.m. ET, the iconic Times Square ball will feature a special design and a finale will highlight a dynamic pyro display set to a rendition of “America the Beautiful” by the late Ray Charles.

Times Square to feature patriotic crystal ball for New Year's Eve, kicking off U.S.' 250th birthday

After the crystal ball drops on New Year’s Eve in New York City, it will rise again, sparkling in red, white and blue to usher in 2026 and kick off months of celebrations for the nation’s upcoming 250th birthday.

The patriotic touches at this year’s Times Square gathering, including a second confetti drop, will offer an early glimpse of what’s ahead: hundreds of events and programs, big and small, planned nationwide to mark the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

“I’m telling you right now, whatever you’re imagining, it’s going to be much more than that,” said America250 Chair Rosie Rios, who oversees the bipartisan commission created by Congress in 2016 to organize the semiquincentennial anniversary. “It’s going to be one for the ages, the most inspirational celebration this country and maybe the world has ever seen.”

Exclusive: Beach Ball Guy Breaks Silence — “It Went Dark. I Was Scared.”

But nobody expected one of the most talked-about moments of the festival to be Manson tearing into a single fan over a beach ball.

In fan-shot clips that ripped around the internet, Manson pauses the set, locks onto one guy in the crowd and unloads: mocking him for “your big f***ing ball”, calling him a douchebag and hinting she could get crew – or the crowd – to “mess him up”. At first it played like sharp stage banter. Then it turned dark.

The man on the other end of it isn’t a pest trying to ruin everyone’s night. He’s Ben O’Brien, known to his mates as “Gig Pig” – a lifer who’s built his adult life around festivals and has been a fan of Garbage for nearly 30 years.

Garbage’s Shirley Manson Defends Rant at Good Things: ‘I Make No Apologies’

"Big guy with your big f–kin' beach ball," Manson said from the stage.

Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson had sharp words for disrespectful behaviour at Good Things Festival, calling out a festivalgoer who repeatedly threw beach balls during the band’s Melbourne set on Dec. 5.

“Big guy with your big f–kin’ beach ball,” Manson said from the stage. “What a f–kin’ douchebag… You’re a f–kin’ middle-aged man in a f–kin’ ridiculous hat, and you’re a f–kin’ f–kface. I want, literally, to ask people to f–kin’ punch you in the f–kin’ face. But you know what? I’m a lady, so I won’t.”

Fans turn on Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson after she rages at Aussie man over a beach ball at Good Things Festival in Melbourne: 'Small man with a small d***'

Shirley Manson has come under fire after she raged at a fan in the crowd during her set in Melbourne on Friday at the Good Things Festival.

The Garbage frontwoman, 59, was seen unleashing onstage after an apparent incident with a beach ball, calling out one particular male fan in the crowd.

A video the Scottish musician shared to her Instagram page showed her saying: 'Big man with your big f***ing beach ball. Oh I'm so scared of you, so thrilled by you.'

'What a f***ing douche bag,' she finished addressing the man in the audience before signalling for her band to start playing once more.

Giannis steps in to secure game ball for L.A. rookie

MILWAUKEE — With the Lakers leading by as many as 31 points in Saturday's 119-95 rout of the Bucks, the only drama of the evening came after the final buzzer, when Lakers players tried to secure the game ball to present to their rookie teammate after he scored his first NBA points.

After Lakers rookie Adou Thiero scored four points, including a raucous dunk in the final minute, teammate Jarred Vanderbilt held on to the game ball when the game ended and held it under his left arm as he exchanged postgame pleasantries with several Bucks players.

Giannis Antetokoumpo’s Heartwarming Gesture for Lakers Rookie Adou Thiero Goes Viral

On a night when the Milwaukee Bucks hoped to build momentum, the script flipped dramatically. After an overtime win against the Charlotte Hornets, fans at Fiserv Forum walked into Saturday’s matchup expecting another step forward.

Instead, October 15 turned into a long, frustrating evening for Milwaukee. The Lakers rolled to a dominant 119–95 victory, but even in defeat, one moment that Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo sparked has taken over social media for all the right reasons.

The Lakers entered the contest shorthanded with forward Rui Hachimura sidelined due to calf soreness. In response, the coaching staff made a bold call to activate rookie Adou Thiero, who had been working his way back from a knee injury suffered months earlier. The matchup against Milwaukee marked Thiero’s long-awaited NBA debut.

Lakers’ Adou Thiero reacts to Giannis making sure he got his game ball after ref controversy

Los Angeles Lakers rookie Adou Thiero got the game ball for his first NBA points thanks to a nice gesture from Giannis.

On Saturday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers continued their winning ways with a road win over the Milwaukee Bucks, pushing their record on the young 2025-26 NBA season to an impressive 10-4 in the process. The Lakers are now awaiting the return of LeBron James, whom they hope will help them reach the next level with this team.

Due to the blowout nature of Saturday's game in Milwaukee, Lakers head coach JJ Redick was able to put some of his reserves in toward the end of the game, including rookie Adou Thiero, who scored his first NBA basket in the win. After the game, the Lakers tried to secure the game ball for Thiero to hold onto, but for some strange reason, the referees on the court were not allowing it. However, Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo then stepped in and made sure Thiero got the ball in a heartwarming moment.
