It took 10 years for Ballarat singer Harry Lamb to go from pub gigs to the national stage on Australian Idol, where he has just made the top 12.

With the top 12 now revealed, the 11th season of the music competition is entering the live performance phase, where audience votes will decide who stays and who goes.

The 27-year-old has been busy preparing songs for the next few rounds in a bid to surprise the audience.

Freo singer over the Moon after Aus Idol top 12 fast track

Australian Idol contestant Charlie Moon was in disbelief after receiving a ticket that landed him straight into the Top 12 of the competition as the soulful singer’s dream edges closer.

The 31-year-old Fremantle creative performed a Beatles hit, and his incredible rendition of With a Little Help from My Friends received a ‘fast pass’ from judge Marcia Hines.

Each judge has one fast pass to use on any contestant that blows them away and sends the Idol hopeful into the live shows as the next stage of the competition begins.

Moon, who’s Idol audition was inspired by the loss of his late mother to brain cancer in 2023, said he was in “complete disbelief” after learning he landed a spot in the Top 12.

Top 12 perform blockbuster anthems as AUSTRALIAN IDOL goes live

After weeks of auditions, theatre rounds and showdowns that saw the Top 12 locked in last week, the competition now moves into its most unpredictable phase as Australia finally gets the power to vote and decide who stays in the race.

Kicking things off is movie week, with the finalists taking on iconic songs from Hollywood blockbusters including The Lion King, Pretty Woman, The Devil Wears Prada, Top Gun, Deadpool and Frozen.

Across three big nights, the Top 12 will perform some of cinema’s most recognisable anthems as they fight to impress both the judges and viewers watching at home.

Adding some Idol history to the stage, Australia’s very first winner Guy Sebastian returns for a special performance of his song Choir, bringing the franchise full circle as a new generation chases the title.

Bunbury teen second West Aussie to make Aus Idol’s Top 12

Bunbury teenager John Standley has become the second West Aussie to qualify for Australian Idol’s Top 12 on Wednesday night after Fremantle’s Charlie Moon achieved the same feat on Monday.

Tasked with reinventing himself for Transformation Week, Standley, 17, strayed from his preferred 50s and 60s “jukebox” tunes to perform a modernised version of James Brown’s iconic hit I Got You.

The “feel good” classic got the judges on their feet as much as the crowd, with Kyle Sandilands admitting he could “see that touring”.

Amy Shark told the teen he’s “got a clear lane there, dude, so just go for it”.

Dewana Star Leads the Way into Sportsbet Emerald Final

Dewana Star has stamped himself as the one to beat in Sunday’s Sportsbet Emerald final after recording the fastest time in today’s heats at Healesville.

The speedster stopped the clock in 16.23 seconds over the 300 metres, securing likely favouritism for the final after drawing box two.

Dewana Star was the fastest qualifier from box one in his Sportsbet Emerald heat.

Straight-track specialist Catch Some Rays also impressed, winning his heat in 16.27 seconds to qualify as the second-fastest runner. He will jump from box eight in Sunday’s final.

The Sportsbet Emerald field is determined by the eight fastest times recorded across the eight heats, meaning a greyhound can win its heat but still miss out on the final if its time is not quick enough.
