Australian Grand Prix organisers have failed to overturn a $2.84 million compensation order to a music promoter over a COVID-era Robbie Williams concert cancellation.

The concert was due to go ahead as part of the 2020 F1 Grand Prix in Melbourne but was cancelled due to COVID on the eve of the event.

Live music promoter World Touring Melbourne successfully sued Grand Prix organisers in 2024 over a breach of contract.

After 25 years I would have like to have seen a transitional arrangement in place where Hawthorn could have played maybe one, maybe two games here in Launceston just to maintain that continuity of the relationship.

If this had been approached properly, in my view, then I think that they [state government and council] could have changed the AFL Commission's view. The reason I say that is for 30 years we were unable to get a commitment from the AFL to have our own team. When I was premier we managed to change that, and so the AFL can be convinced if arguments are put to it appropriately.

Eight Waratahs changes for must-win Fijian Drua clash

The NSW Waratahs have made eight changes to the starting line-up for Saturday’s Round 14 Swyftx Super Rugby Pacific tie against the Fijian Drua at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva (2.35pm kick-off AEST).

There are four players added to the forward pack in Jack Barrett (loosehead prop), Ioane Moananu (hooker), Matt Philip (lock) and Clem Halaholo (blindside flanker). After two straight defeats in the Women’s Premier League, Royal Challengers Bengaluru was back to its very best on Thursday. That was largely down to Grace Harris and Nadine de Klerk, who played starring roles to help the Smriti Mandhana-led outfit rout UP Warriorz by eight wickets at the Kotambi Stadium.

The victory means RCB, with 12 points after eight matches, has topped the league phase and qualified for the final of the fourth season on February 5. Barring a mathematical miracle, Warriorz will be headed for the exit door after the final league fixture against Delhi Capitals on Sunday.
