    The entire basketball world is singing the praises of Jalen Brunson and rightfully so. He has led the Knicks to the NBA finals for the first time since 1999 and has united the entire city of New York in a unique way.

    On every New York street you can see people of every race, color, creed, nationality, religion, economic status and political affiliation unified in excitement as the team seek their first NBA title since 1973. While older Knicks fans break out their Patrick Ewing, Charles Oakley and John Starks jerseys, younger fans have the names of Brunson, Josh Hart and Karl-Anthony Towns on their backs. Chants of “MVP!” fill the air in every New York borough every time Jalen Brunson steps up to the free-throw line. Knicks fans have staged watch parties on the sidewalks, in the parks, and on the corners. All of New York is, in the words of JadaKiss, “outside”.

    Stevenson High School community cheers on New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson in NBA Finals against San Antonio Spurs

    LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. (WLS) — Many Chicagoans may be rooting for the New York Knicks because of Jalen Brunson.

    The star point guard graduated from Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire. His dad is a Knicks assistant coach, and they are making NBA history. Rick Brunson is the first to coach his own son in the finals.

    ABC7's John Garcia went to Lincolnshire, where it all started for the Brunson family.

    Jalen Brunson wound up here at Stevenson because his father was an assistant coach for the Bulls. But Brunson has kept close ties to his high school. He won a state championship there. He even proposed to his now-wife in the school's gym.

    Changes to home battery rebates coming into effect today aim to ensure the scheme does not risk becoming a victim of its own success.

    Australians took to batteries in droves after the federal government introduced the Cheaper Home Batteries Program in last year's budget.

    In less than a year, Australia's residential battery capacity doubled. More than a quarter of a million units were installed across the country in the first nine months, adding around 7.7 gigawatt-hours of storage.

    That's equivalent to about 40 of the big batteries Elon Musk built in South Australia.

    Homeowners to lose thousands as popular solar battery rebate is cut

    Australians keen to embrace rooftop solar and battery storage are facing significant changes to federal government incentives, with a popular rebate scheme undergoing a major overhaul from today.

    The move, aimed at reining in ballooning costs and promoting more appropriate system sizing, will see many homeowners receive thousands less than previously available.

    The federal government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program, designed to slash the upfront cost of a home battery by around 30 per cent (averaging a $4000 saving), has proven so popular that its expenditure ran well ahead of projections.

    The unexpected demand, particularly for larger systems, has prompted a “correction” to ensure the rebates can stretch further across more households.

    $10k per household: Iran crisis adds fuel to battery subsidy fire

    Steep power prices and fuel costs are stoking new demand for Labor’s home battery subsidy and putting pressure on its $7.2 billion budget, as consumers shrug off looming changes to the scheme’s rules and continue to pile into the popular energy-saving tech.

    The government has spent more than $3.3 billion subsidising nearly 360,000 batteries since the rebate policy came into effect on July 1 last year, at an average cost to the taxpayer of almost $10,000 per battery, according to The Australian Financial Review’s analysis of Clean Energy Regulator data.

    Hours before the biggest start of his life against Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic, Derik Queen took a seat in a row of chairs between the New Orleans Pelicans' two practice courts following a recent morning shootaround.

    The 20-year-old center acts his age and has a kid-like joy. He has a smile filled with braces and an endearing cartoonish laugh that not even the Pelicans' sinking season has spoiled.

    "That's exactly what he is — a kid," DeAndre Jordan, who won a title with Jokic in 2023 and is now mentoring Queen in New Orleans, told ESPN. "He still got a little baby fat."

    Spurs Notes: Harper, Fox, Castle, Wembanyama

    No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper helped lead the Spurs to a victory over New Orleans on Monday with a 22-point, six-assist outing, proving that he can be successful in his role even when De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle are both available. Still, as Jeff McDonald of The San Antonio Express-News (subscription required) writes, it was evident with all three of those guards were healthy and active for the first time this season that there are still some kinks to work out in the backcourt.

    While Harper thrived, Castle showed some rust in his first game back from a hip injury, making just 5-of-15 shots and turning the ball over three times in 23 minutes. Meanwhile, McDonald suggests that Fox seemed “unsure of when to assert himself” — the former All-Star scored just 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting and committed four turnovers.
