Carlton has confirmed young star Elijah Hollands has been admitted to hospital after the worrying scenes from Thursday night's game against Collingwood.

The club asked that the privacy of Hollands and his family be respected.

"While the Club acknowledges the public’s interest, it again asks that the privacy of Elijah and his family be respected," a statement read.

"This request for privacy extends to the media to please not report or speculate on Hollands' location and private health information."

The AFL and AFLPA are awaiting the findings of a club investigation, after Hollands suffered a mental health episode during the game.

‘There was a bit of chatter’: Pie aware of Hollands talk on field

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them anytime.

Collingwood defender Brayden Maynard was aware of talk on the field on Thursday night that Carlton’s Elijah Hollands was not right, but did not personally witness anything to raise an alarm.

Maynard was not opposed to Hollands directly in the match but overheard conversations on the ground among teammates who were surprised at the Carlton player’s behaviour.

Maynard’s comments follow a report from Age football journalist Caroline Wilson that Hollands had told a Collingwood player he’d been drinking.

“I wasn’t aware of what was going on, but I think there was a bit of chatter happening and I didn’t pay much attention to it at all and if I did, I definitely would have said something,” Maynard told this masthead on Monday.

Should the Easter Monday clash been played at Accor?

Andrew Voss and David Riccio have debated whether the NRL has missed a trick by not moving the Eels vs Tigers Easter Monday clash to Accor Stadium.

Throughout the last fourteen years, the NRL has made a point of scheduling blockbuster games during the Easter long weekend, with the Rabbitohs vs Bulldogs clash on Good Friday, while the Eels take on the Tigers on the Monday.

Since the two sides began playing on Easter Monday in 2014, the crowd has exceeded 30,000 only four times, compared to the Good Friday clash, which has only dipped below that mark once.

With those smaller crowds, it has seen three of the last four games being played at the smaller CommBank Stadium.

Warriors Make Al Horford Announcement Before Jazz Game

The Golden State Warriors will once again lean heavily on Draymond Green in the frontcourt after two veteran big men were ruled out ahead of Monday night’s matchup with the Utah Jazz.

Veteran center Al Horford will sit out due to left toe injury management, according to the NBA’s official injury report. He joins Kristaps Porziņģis on the sidelines, with the Latvian big man also ruled out because of illness management.

The simultaneous absences leave Golden State thin in the frontcourt and force coach Steve Kerr to rely once again on Green to anchor the interior as the Warriors try to keep pace in the tightly packed Western Conference playoff race.

“Many countries which are non-participants have been attacked by Iran through this,” Wong said.

“You would anticipate as a consequence that we have been asked for assistance and we will work through that carefully. And of course, we are.”

Australian troops may go to Gulf

The Australian government is considering sending military assistance to the Gulf nations facing attacks from Iran, Foreign Minister Penny Wong told ABC Insiders on Sunday.

Wong confirmed that Australia was asked to provide assistance to the region when she met with her UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed last week (The Age).

She said Australia would consider providing defence to the Gulf nations but would not participate in “offensive action” against Iran. She said, “This is not Iraq, and we are not the Howard government” (The Guardian).

Shadow Defence Minister James Paterson said the Coalition would “carefully consider any deployment proposals” once briefed. He said, “Australia had a proud record of standing with our allies and friends in times of crisis” (ABC).

Why Melbourne has been waiting a generation for someone like Sua Fa'alogo

Sua Fa'alogo has been waiting quite a while for his chance to be Melbourne's fullback, but nowhere near as long as Melbourne has been waiting for someone like him.

Over their almost 30-year existence, the Storm have never been short of stars, especially at number one.

It makes Fa'alogo, who starts at the back for Melbourne tomorrow in their season opener against the Eels, the heir to a storied bloodline.

Wearing the jersey that was first donned by Robbie Ross, then elevated by Billy Slater and recently vacated by Ryan Papenhuyzen — with talents as diverse as Greg Inglis, Cameron Munster and Jahrome Hughes all pulling it on in the spaces between — is a lot to live up to.

Fable launches on PS5 Autumn 2026

First details on the all-new game, featuring an open world take on Albion filled with playful moral chaos.

For the first time in the franchise’s history, Fable is coming to PlayStation 5 in Autumn 2026. Today we’re excited to reveal the most detailed look yet at our fresh take on Albion – a world that’s familiar in spirit, but newly reimagined for modern RPG players.

Fable is not a remake or a sequel. It’s a new beginning for the franchise, designed to capture the heart and humor that defined the original trilogy while bringing contemporary storytelling, world design, and player agency to the forefront. Fans of the classic games will recognize the series’ signature blend of choice and consequence, dry British wit, and playful moral chaos – yes, chickens included. In Fable’s fairytale land of Albion, heroism is less about spotless morality and more about navigating the ripple effects of your decisions. The game embraces the small, messy, often hilarious choices that shape who you become. Even the tiniest actions can snowball into stories that townsfolk remember, judge, and gossip about.
