    Meanwhile, the Australian women's sevens team fell to their trans-Tasman rivals.

    New Zealand won the preseason match against the world champions, 21-12.

    It is the first time all four of Australia's national teams have appeared on the same match-day schedule.

Rugby Australia and New Zealand Rugby are close to signing off a deal to play on Anzac Day – or the night before – from 2027 as the first game in a return to an annual three-Test series between the bitter Trans-Tasman rivals.

    The Anzac period has long been the domain of the AFL and NRL, with capacity crowds filling the MCG and Allianz Stadium for the Essendon-Collingwood and Roosters-Dragons clashes respectively. Rugby Australia hopes to muscle in on that territory, believing an annual Bledisloe Anzac fixture would attract a massive crowd and huge television audience.
