    CHICAGO (WLS) — Friday was the home season opener for the Chicago White Sox. Thursday scheduled opener was moved because of weather.

    The Sox got their second win of the young season, walking it off in the bottom of the 9th.

    First pitch was at 1:10 p.m. at Rate Field against the Toronto Blue Jays.

    Also Friday afternoon, the team announced they will retire 2005 World Series champion manager Ozzie Guillén's No. 13 in a special ceremony August 8.

    "Feeling great yeah!" Sox fan Dan Kozlowski said. "Hope we get a W today."

    CARLTON vice-captain Sam Walsh says his teammates are right behind coach Michael Voss amid a fierce spotlight on the second-half fade-outs that continue to hurt the under-fire AFL side.

    The Blues (1-2) threw away a 43-point lead in their last-start loss to Melbourne and have not won a quarter after half-time in any of their three outings this season.

    The horror form has brought more heat on fifth-year coach Voss after he was backed by the club last August to at least see out the final season of his contract in 2026.

    The singer, 79, sparked speculation she and partner Alexander “AE” Edwards may have wed by sporting the sparkler — and a band — at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Monday.

    However, Page Six can exclusively confirm that the couple is neither married nor engaged.

    Reps for Cher and Edwards did not immediately respond to our requests for comment.

    Cher’s statement jewelry aside, the Grammy winner cut a casual figure arriving at the nuptials in a star-patterned sweatsuit and sneakers.

    EMERGING Carlton midfielder Cooper Lord has signed a three-year contract extension, keeping him at IKON Park until at least the end of 2029.  

    Lord has further committed to the Blues after taking his game to the next level in 2025, in what has been a story of persistence for the 20-year-old.

    Recruited through the 2024 mid-season draft, Lord featured in 21 games last year, earning his spot in the Blues’ engine room.

    Re-signed Carlton midfielder Cooper Lord's connection to Carlton pre-dates his selection at the 2024 Mid-Season Draft.

    The midfielder has played 24 games since being selected and signed a three-year contract extension on Tuesday to remain at Ikon Park.

    But he likely would not have even been on the Blues' radar if not for the scouting of a Carlton premiership player. 

    "(Ian Aitken) spoke to me about him and said 'you have to come and see this kid' and I watched him train and spoke to him and brought him into Dragons for the second half of pre-season going into 2023," Sandringham Dragons coach Rob Harding told Zero Hanger.

    Pop band Blue, Julian Marley join Me’gong Festival lineup

    Shillong, Dec 1: The upcoming Me’gong Festival in Tura now has more reasons for music enthusiasts to be a part of it! The festival lineup will now have two major international additions — British pop-R&B boy band Blue and Grammy-nominated reggae artist Julian Marley, son of music legend Bob Marley.

    Richard Marx and world-renowned electronic duo Yellow Claw are already among the confirmed headliners in the festival scheduled for December 5 and 6.

    The expanded roster signals one of the most diverse and globally curated lineups in the festival’s history, blending international acts with prominent Indian artists and homegrown talent.

    Bollywood stars Kanika Kapoor and Neeti Mohan will also perform, adding a strong contemporary Indian presence.

    International pop-rock star Richard Marx to perform in Meghalaya’s Me’gong festival

    Tura(Meghalaya), Nov 28 (PTI) International pop-rock star Richard Marx will perform at the Me’gong Festival 2025 in western Meghalaya’s Tura, organisers said on Friday.

    The two-day cultural and music festival, scheduled for December 5 and 6, will also feature Dutch electronic duo Yellow Claw, along with Bollywood singers Kanika Kapoor and Neeti Mohan, they said.

    Popular home-grown performers such as Rough Road, Hoi Hoi Makbil and Haystack Ladies will add regional flavour to the event.

    Officials said the festival aims to offer an immersive experience that goes beyond music, highlighting the cultural heritage of the Garo Hills through traditional cuisine, craft exhibitions, weaving workshops, bamboo artistry and displays of beaded jewellery crafted by local artisans.

    Me’gong Festival to take place in Meghalaya on December 5-6

    With a lineup of global and local musicians, led by pop-rock artist Richard Marx and international electronic music duo Yellow Claw, Meghalaya will host Me’gong Festival at Tura, on December 5 and 6.

    In a press statement, Meghalaya Tourism says that the 2025 edition of the festival will expand the cultural economy framework envisioned by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.

    The statement adds that the Me’gong Festival has transformed Meghalaya’s cultural showcase. The 2024 edition of the festival recorded 300,000 visitors across two days, and reflected on the rising national and international appeal.
