'Can't hide behind borders': Police arrest hundreds of DV offenders during blitz

ACT and New South Wales police have used cross-border operations to put domestic and family violence offenders "on notice".

Fifteen men were arrested in the ACT, while more than 700 arrests were made across NSW for domestic violence related offences. 

Police are warning offenders that there's "no escaping" and that they "can't hide" across borders. 

Fifteen men have been arrested in the ACT, and hundreds more in New South Wales, as part of cross-border family and domestic violence police operations.

ACT police's Operation Shepherd ran over five days last week to coincide with NSW Police's Operation Amarok, targeting family violence offenders.

Licenced gun holders who are among alleged and convicted domestic violence offenders are a big worry for police.

NSW Police seized 118 guns and 16 other weapons during a three-day domestic violence operation in the past week, with 732 people charged with a total of 1589 offences. 

Deputy Commissioner Paul Pisanos said officers seized weapons from licence-holders who had committed domestic violence offences, as well as unregistered, imported and manufactured firearms.
