A three-year-old boy who was seriously injured in a crocodile enclosure has been discharged from hospital and is settling back in at home, his family has said.

The child returned home "a few weeks ago" and is "happy to be home, playing with his toys, sleeping in his own bed and being a big brother", his parents said in an update posted online.

The boy was visiting Johnsons of Old Hurst near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, with his family on 18 June when he was attacked by at least one of the animals.

In an update shared on a fundraising page on Monday, the boy's family said it was "nice to have us all back together in the comfort of our own home".

The boy, three, is in a critical but stable condition, authorities say.

In a statement, Cambridgeshire Police said they had arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident.

London: A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a three-year-old boy ended up in a crocodile enclosure at a zoo in central England on Thursday, resulting in him sustaining critical injuries, police said.

Cambridgeshire Police said officers were called following reports of an incident at Johnsons of Old Hurst, a zoo near Huntingdon, which resulted in the boy being in the enclosure.

The child was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is in a critical but stable condition, police said. A 30-year-old man had been arrested.

“At this stage, we are speaking to people who were at the zoo at the time of this distressing incident to understand more about the circumstances,” said Detective Inspector Verity McCann.

On a warm April day in 1976 three-year-old Sandy Davidson was playing with his sister Donna in the garden of his grandparents house in Irvine, when the family dog bounded out to the street.

Sandy chased after the pet while Donna told her grandparents what had happened before also going out onto the street. By then Sandy was gone – and has never been seen since.

Over the years there have been several theories about what happened, from falling into the nearby Annick River to being taken away by a man delivering leaflets.

Donna has now launched an appeal to mark the 50th anniversary of the disappearance in the hope someone can shed some light on the case.
