Korea braces for 15-degree Celsius temperature swings, possible fall typhoon

Clear fall weather will bring chilly mornings and warm afternoons this week, while a potential typhoon remains under watch for later this month.

Korea can expect typical fall weather throughout this week. Temperatures could swing by as much as 15 degrees Celsius (27 degrees Fahrenheit) between chilly mornings and warm afternoons.

A potential fall typhoon moving north, however, could disrupt the stretch of mild, settled weather after this week.

Seoul's morning low fell to 19.3 degrees Celsius (66.7 degrees Fahrenheit) on Monday, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). The daily high reached 26.1 degrees Celsius.

The southern parts of the country saw highs around 30 degrees Celsius.

Weather forecast: Half of Australia braces for intense cold spell complete with damaging winds, storms

A powerful cold spell bringing damaging conditions and freezing temperatures is set to hit at least four states by the end of the weekend, experts have warned.

A low-pressure system moving from the edge of Antarctica is predicted to have travelled more than 4000 kilometres by Saturday before hitting Australia’s south.

A powerful cold front will cause damaging winds, heavy rain, hail, snow and bitterly cold temperatures across the southern half of Australia towards the end of this week. Weatherzone

Weatherzone has warned the cold snap will bring a massive surge of freezing polar air across the Southern Ocean, with temperatures expected to plummet between Saturday and Monday.

Fresh snow, and plenty of it, is coming to the Australian high country in a prolonged snowfall event which is set to persist from Sunday through to next Thursday.

This looks like being a classic winter pattern, where the arrival of the first cold front is preceded by warm air and a few hours of rain across the mountains, before a southwesterly stream establishes, potentially enabling multiple bursts of fresh snow over several days.

Typhoon Noul: 150 flights cancelled in Hong Kong as T3 remains in effect

Observatory says Noul has intensified and is forecast to come within 100km of Hong Kong on Sunday morning

The Hong Kong Observatory will issue the No 8 typhoon signal at 10.10pm on Saturday as Typhoon Noul barrels towards the region, with more than 380 flights cancelled and winds associated with the storm causing a scaffolding collapse.

The forecaster said that Noul had intensified and was forecast to come within 100km (62 miles) of the city on Sunday morning, with rain and strong winds associated with the storm already affecting the city.

It said it would issue the No 8 signal at 10.10pm, while a “Pre-No 8 Special Announcement” would be sent out two hours beforehand.

China evacuates 20,000 people as Typhoon Noul nears

Authorities have evacuated more than 20,000 people and suspended rail services as Typhoon Noul approaches southern China, with flight cancellations announced in the financial hub of Hong Kong.

The typhoon is forecast to make landfall in the coastal area stretching from Hong Kong to Guangdong province between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, China's National Meteorological Center said.

The Chinese weather forecaster maintained an orange typhoon alert on Saturday, the second-highest level in its four-tier system.

Parts of Guangdong and neighbouring Hunan and Jiangxi provinces are set to receive heavy rainfall from Saturday to Monday, it said.

When the typhoon makes landfall, it is forecast to have maximum sustained winds of 126-151 kilometres per hour (78-94 miles per hour).

Prince Harry’s UK Trip May Come With a Major Personal Development — Report

Prince Harry is packing his bags for a highly anticipated visit to his homeland. While the UK trip itself is already making waves in the royal world, it might bring an unexpected personal milestone for the Duke of Sussex. Sources indicate that the timing of his journey could perfectly align with a massive development in his ongoing quest for justice. It seems his travels will involve much more than just a typical family visit.

According to a report by PEOPLE, Prince Harry is expected to receive the final judgment in his high-profile legal battle against a major U.K. publisher during this trip. This upcoming court decision marks a critical moment, as it is his last active lawsuit challenging the controversial practices of the British tabloid press.

Katherine braces for possibility of second major flood this month

Emergency service volunteers are from South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory have travelled up north to support the Northern Territory's frontline. (Supplied: NT government)

Katherine River is flooding in several areas today, with the BOM warning that levels at Katherine Bridge could exceed the major flood mark tonight.

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle passed over the NT on the weekend, dumping rain in already-saturated catchments.

Emergency services, bolstered by interstate support, are urging Katherine residents to stay alert and avoid driving in floodwater.

The Katherine River could hit the major flood level again tonight, with evacuation centres in the regional town of Katherine set to open and a pop-up hospital to remain in place.

A sandbagged and already-saturated outback town is back on major flood alert as it continues a rollercoaster ride through consecutive storms.

Katherine locals were ready to breathe a sigh of relief after the Northern Territory town of 10,000 residents looked set to dodge major damage from former tropical cyclone Narelle.

But they face another anxious wait after the flood level warning for the nearby Katherine River was upped from moderate to major on Tuesday.
