Departing Broncos forward set to be offered contract lifeline

Brisbane Broncos forward Jack Gosiewski could receive interest from St Helens in what would be a move to reunite with Kevin Walters in 2027.

St Helens had a disappointing season and made significant changes in their staff and playing roster, including hiring current Australian Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters and signing Sean O'Sullivan, Solomone Faatape and Tom Starling.

Christian Tuipulotu is expected to move from Australia and sign with St Helens after spending last season with St George Illawarra Dragons.

Broncos activate RB Jonah Coleman and OLB Jonathon Cooper, place RB Tyler Badie and OLB Jonah Elliss on IR

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver has regained a pair of players ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

The Broncos activated running back Jonah Coleman and outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper, the team announced Saturday.

Denver placed running back Tyler Badie and outside linebacker Jonah Elliss on injured reserve in corresponding moves.

The Broncos also elevated safety Taylor Rapp and defensive back Sean Fresch Jr. from the practice squad to the active roster.

In Coleman's last game action, he recorded 58 scrimmage yards and a touchdown against the Jaguars in Week 2. Coleman was placed on injured reserve ahead of Week 3 and has missed the Broncos' last four games. He was designated for return from injured reserve on Wednesday as he returned to practice.

Broncos vs. Cardinals gameday inactives for Week 7

The Denver Broncos will be without cornerback Pat Surtain II against this week as they take on the Arizona Cardinals, but reports suggest he will make his return next week in that critical AFC West home game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Still no Talanoa Hufanga either. Hopefully we see him back next week as well.

The good news is that the Broncos have gotten both running back Jonah Coleman and edge rusher Jonathon Cooper back and both are active for this game.

The Broncos will be without cornerback Pat Surtain II again on Sunday.

Surtain was listed as questionable to play against the Cardinals after returning to practice this week, but he landed on the team’s inactive list on Sunday afternoon. It is the third straight game that Surtain has missed with an ankle injury.

Quarterback Sam Ehlinger, safety Talanoa Hufanga, offensive lineman Kage Casey, tight end Dallen Bentley, defensive lineman Jordan Jackson, and defensive lineman Tyler Onyedim are the other inactives for Denver.

Safety Budda Baker is active for the Cardinals after being tagged as questionable due to a groin injury and an illness. Cornerback Max Melton was also questionable and he will not play due to a knee injury.

Brisbane Broncos dummy half Blake Mozer's time at the club appears to be drawing to a close after he was granted permission to talk with rival clubs.

Broncos Add Outside Backs De Courcey and Penisini to 2027 Squad

The Brisbane Broncos have added outside backs Wilson De Courcey and Richard Penisini on a Top 30 and Development contract respectively.

De Courcey joins the Broncos on a two-year deal from the Newcastle Knights where he made his NRL debut in Round 5 of the 2026 season before making his second appearance the following week.

The 21-year-old was a standout performer in the New South Wales Cup this season with 18 tries in 20 games, and an average of more than 130 run metres per game.

Executive General Manager of Football Troy Thomson said the Club was looking forward to seeing the growth of the Australian Schoolboys representative within the Broncos system.

Penisini among two new signings for Brisbane Broncos

The Brisbane Broncos have confirmed two new singings for 2027, locking up Parramatta Eels fringe outside back Richard Penisini, and Newcastle Knights NRL debutant Wilson De Courcey.

Penisini, the younger brother of established NRL centre Will at the same club, makes the move on a development deal to Red Hill for 2027, while De Courcey slots straight in to the top 30 for the next two seasons.

De Courcey made his debut in Round 5 of the 2026 NRL season for the Knights and then excelled throughout the course of the year in the NSW Cup where he scored 18 tries and averaged 130 metres per game.

When the Chiefs play in Las Vegas on Sunday, Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be looking to extend his mastery of the Raiders — and of their division.

Via NBC Sports research, Mahomes has a career record of 13-2 against the Raiders. In those 15 games, Mahomes has thrown 36 touchdown passes against five interceptions.

Mahomes is also 7-0 on the road against the Raiders, with 20 touchdown passes and two interceptions in those games.

Against the AFC West, Mahomes has a record of 37-8. The 82.2 percent winning rate is the best for any quarterback since the merger against division rivals, based on a minimum of 25 starts.

Broncos star claims NRLW first with player of the year title

Nathan Cleary and Tamika Upton have both claimed their second RLPA player of the year awards as the latter prepares for a back-to-back charge at the NRLW title.

Cleary beat out Erin Clark, Herbie Farnworth, Haumole Olakau’atu and James Tedesco for his award, which was announced to the Panthers squad before the preliminary final last week.

The Panthers halfback last won the award in 2020 and becomes the third player to win multiple player of the year titles. James Tedesco and Johnathan Thurston have both won the award four times.

“The expectations on Nathan are always very high. But in 2026 he showed once again that he can carry that pressure and produce quality performance after quality performance,” RLPA chief executive Clint Newton said.

Erin Clark one of five finalists for Players' Champion award

While the prestigious Players' Champion title ultimately went to Penrith halfback Nathan Cleary, One New Zealand Warriors loose forward Erin Clark had the distinction of being voted by his peers as one of the top five players of the 2026 NRKL season.

In an award decided by players across the NRL's 17 clubs, Clark was one of the five finalists vying for the accolade alongside Cleary, Dolphins centre Herbie Farnworth (Dolphins), Manly Warringah second rower Haumole Olakau’atu and Roosters fullback James Tedesco.

Last week the 29-year-old 146-game veteran Clark was named at loose forward in the RLPA’s Dream Team for the second year running.

Tanner Stowers-Smith admits he's fizzing to lock horns with the much-vaunted Brisbane Broncos forward pack on Saturday.

The reigning NRL champions may be languishing near the bottom of the competition table, but names like Payne Haas, Patrick Carrigan, Xavier Willison and Jordan Riki shouldn't be trifled with.

"It's a really big challenge and that's been my biggest work-on through the year – wanting to go against these big guys and not taking a backwards step," Stowers-Smith said.

"They've got a really class forward pack, so it excites me and that's the challenge I want to take on myself every week – to step up to those top dogs."
