Cult retail giant Bunnings has unveiled a new plan to slash homeowner bills by up to 25 per cent.

The hardware giant has expanded its Zelora program into Queensland, Victoria and South Australia after a successful trial in New South Wales, letting households install home upgrades for hundreds rather than thousands upfront.

Zelora solar systems are now available on a subscription basis over 10 years at Bunnings in major cities in Queensland, Victoria and South Australia after a successful NSW trial period.

Bunnings move to slash electricity bills for Aussie households: 'Meaningful savings'

Hardware giant Bunnings is rolling out a new subscription service across the country, which it says will make solar and batteries more accessible for Aussies. More than one in three Aussie households now have rooftop solar, and an increasing number are buying batteries, but the upfront cost is often a major deterrent.

Following a trial in Sydney and Newcastle last year, Bunnings is today expanding its solar and battery subscription offering 'Zelora' across metropolitan Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. The service allows customers to avoid big upfront costs and instead pay monthly, with full ownership of the system at the end of a 10-year term.

Bunnings and Intellihub expand solar and home battery offer

Bunnings and Intelluhub are expanding their home electrification offer, Zelora, bringing more affordable solar and battery options to Australians.

Following a successful trial in Sydney and Newcastle last year, Zelora is now being rolled out across metropolitan Queensland, Victoria, and South Australia, significantly increasing access to the offer nationwide.

Zelora provides a subscription-based model that allows customers to pay monthly, with full ownership of the system at the end of the 10-year term. The offer is backed by Bunnings and delivered in partnership with Intellihub.

The subscription includes ongoing performance monitoring, fault resolution, smart energy optimisation and centralised customer support, which is managed via a mobile app. This helps households optimise and manage their energy use, maximise savings, and provide grid responsiveness.

Bunnings enters housing market with flatpack pod homes starting from $26,000

Australia’s most iconic hardware store is making a monumental leap from hammers and nails to helping build entire homes, as it throws its weight behind a burgeoning solution to the nation’s housing affordability crisis.

Bunnings Warehouse has partnered with an innovative Aussie start-up to offer compact, modular pod houses designed for backyards, many of which cleverly bypass the need for traditional building permits.

The retailer now lists Elsewhere Pods’ flatpack dwellings online and through its in‑store Special Orders desk, with two models on offer: a 2.7m x 2.4m pod priced at $26,100 and a larger 4m x 2.4m studio at $42,900.

Bunnings' 'extremely affordable' new solution to major housing issue impacting Aussies

A family’s creative way of doubling their living space for a fraction of the cost of a new home or an extension highlights the need for alternative solutions to affordable housing. For just under $200,000, Martijn and his wife added to their 40sqm cottage on the NSW Central Coast.

They created a private and spacious retreat using modular pods created by an Aussie startup, which are now available for sale to everyday Aussies at Bunnings.

In less than a week, the couple added 35sqm to their steep bushland property, with Martijn and his wife, a professional musician, scoring their own 15sqm retreat for work.

Bunnings starts selling DIY ‘tiny homes’ as housing costs pinch

Australians can build a tiny home, office or extra bedroom in their backyard over a weekend for $45,000 with Bunnings partnering with a modular home start-up to sell flat-pack studios, capitalising on a need for innovative housing amid an affordability crisis.

Bunnings launches backyard housing 'solution' as Aussie product rides $9 million wave

More Australians are looking for alternative solutions to affordable housing, and the nation's most famous hardware store is jumping on the bandwagon. Bunnings has teamed up with an Aussie startup that provides small, modular pod houses that can be built in backyards and provide a living space that skirts the need for building permits.

Major lenders like Commonwealth Bank have been embracing prefab housing, while kit home manufacturers have proliferated around the country. A step down from that is the kind of tiny housing solutions offered by the likes of Elsewhere Pods.

The business says demand has been increasing for its kind of flatpack modular dwelling solution, with the startup turning over more than $9 million in sales.

Bunnings shoppers 'running' to their nearest store over new $5.50 summer essential

Bunnings has plenty of merch available for shoppers, but the hardware store recently expanded the range of one of its most iconic items. With summer in full swing, the hot Aussie sun is blasting down upon us and many of us are grabbing our hats to keep our faces in the shade.

Well, Bunnings shoppers have gone wild over the relatively new colour of the store's branded cap that's only $5.50. Queenslander Claudia told Yahoo Lifestyle she couldn't believe her eyes when she popped into her local Bunnings recently.

"Bunnings is clearly appealing more to their new age market," she said. "First the Labubu dupes, now the hats.

Why shoppers are racing to Bunnings to snap up this $5 fashion 'must-have'

Australians are once again proving that a viral fashion moment doesn't have to come with a luxury price tag.

Nor does it have to come from a fashion retailer, it seems.

This week, shoppers have been flocking to Bunnings Warehouse Australia for a surprise style staple in the form of vintage-washed logo caps.

Originally designed as practical merch rather than a trend piece, the caps, priced at a 'bargain' $5.50, have exploded online after shoppers began sharing photos, try-ons and 'haul' posts, with many admitting they're now hunting down all four colours.

'We got our hands on three of the four Bunnings Warehouse Australia hats at only $5.50 – they are a BARGAIN,' one shopper wrote.
