Australia was reminded of the dangers of winter sport on day four at the Winter Olympics as two team members were ruled out of the Games after training falls.

Snowboard-cross competitor Cam Bolton, who was getting ready for his third Olympic campaign, fell heavily in training on Monday and was transferred to hospital in Milan on Tuesday as his pain levels worsened.

A CT scan showed he had two neck fractures. Bolton has been ruled out, as has snowboard halfpipe athlete Misaki Vaughan, who fell in training on Tuesday and sustained a concussion.

Cam Smith opens up on LIV Golf future after ‘weird scenario’ with PGA Tour

It was not that long ago Cam Smith possessed two of the five most important trophies in the game.

The Aussie first recognised on tour for his wispy mullet and moustache combo emerged as a world-beater in 2022 with wins at The Players at TPC Sawgrass and The Open at St Andrews.

When he soon jumped ship for LIV Golf, Smith was ranked the second best player in the world.

Golf, of course, is a fickle pursuit. Nobody at that stage could have been absolutely sure whether Smith was on an unstoppable path towards multiple major victories. Or, indeed, if he was riding a wave with a smelting-hot putter that would have given 2015 Jordan Spieth a run for his money.

Cam Smith is uncertain if the spotlight will shift from him to young Australian Elvis Smylie at LIV Golf's Adelaide tournament.

"Maybe. Perhaps," Smith said ahead of Thursday's opening round at the Grange in Adelaide.

"I still feel like there's a lot of pressure on myself and the team to perform well this week.

"It's our biggest week of the year. To have the home crowd behind you, you don't want to let them down.

How Adelaide became a shining light for Saudi-backed golf

For one last time, Grange Golf Club's "Watering Hole" is ready for a weekend of LIV Golf shenanigans.

The tee box of the par three is now surrounded by low-rise spectator stands, including the "BYD Shark Shack" (starting from $1,000) and the "Beach Club", which offers a shaded lounge, all-inclusive bar and "all-day chef-curated dining".

It's from these hospitality tents that well-hydrated punters showered American golfer Patrick Reed with beer last year after he landed an improbable hole-in-one.

Cameron Green’s petulant gesture about the unusual bowling action of Pakistan’s Usman Tariq was a worrying sign for Australia at the start of a Twenty20 World Cup campaign.

Not because of Tariq’s action, which has been cleared twice by testing procedures sanctioned by the International Cricket Council, but because Green was clearly looking elsewhere for excuses as to why he and Australia had been battered twice in as many games on foreign soil.

‘No idea’: Green fumes after dismissal as drama erupts on horror night for Aussies

Australia’s struggles against spin were exposed again on a horror night in Pakistan, with a potential drama set to erupt after Cameron Green appeared to accuse one of the home side’s bowlers of chucking after he was dismissed.
