The Pentagon had allowed US Customs and Border Protection to use an experimental anti-drone laser, prompting the FAA to announce a 10-day airspace closure.
One person familiar with the matter told the Associated Press the laser was deployed without coordinating with the FAA, which decided to then close the airspace to ensure air safety.
