    CLEVELAND — — Donovan Mitchell scored 32 points, Max Strus had 24 off the bench and the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Toronto Raptors 126-113 on Saturday in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference first-round playoff series.

    James Harden had 22 points and 10 assists while Evan Mobley had 17 and seven rebounds for fourth-seeded Cleveland, which hosts Game 2 on Monday night.

    It was a playoff career high in points for Strus, who missed the first 67 games this season with a broken left foot that occurred during offseason training.

    “When you see the work he’s put in all season, it’s for this moment, right? This is a regular occurrence with Max, maybe not 24 (points), but just the energy level and boost he gives us,” said Mitchell, who has scored at least 30 points in an NBA-record nine straight series openers. “You give him credit for his journey, it can be a lot on the mental for him to continue to stick with it.”

    SALT LAKE CITY — — Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell each scored 34 points and the Cleveland Cavaliers used a late fourth-quarter surge to beat the Utah Jazz 122-113 on Monday night.

    Mobley set a season-high for points, including eight dunks, and also had 16 rebounds and three blocks. The 7-footer capped the decisive 14-1 run with a three-point play that made it 117-106 with 3:14 remaining.

    James Harden had 13 points and 14 assists for the Cavaliers, who have won five straight road games and six of their last seven overall.

    Cody Williams scored 26 points, Kyle Filipowski had 20 and Ace Bailey added 19 for Utah. The Jazz have lost six straight and 10 of their last 11.

    MILWAUKEE — — Evan Mobley had 27 points and a season-high 15 rebounds, and James Harden also scored 27 as the Cleveland Cavaliers opened a three-game trip by beating the short-handed Milwaukee Bucks 123-116 on Tuesday night.

    Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo sat out with a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise. This was the career-high 32nd game the two-time MVP has missed this season, and the Bucks fell to 11-21 without him.

    The Bucks also didn't have Myles Turner because of a right calf strain. Cleveland's Jarrett Allen missed a sixth straight game because of tendinitis in his right knee.

    In a game featuring 11 ties and 16 lead changes, Cleveland pulled ahead for good 103-100 on Sam Merrill's 3-pointer with 6:55 remaining, which started an 8-0 run.

    76ers discuss challenge of facing Cavs' James Harden, Donovan Mitchell

    CLEVELAND — When the Philadelphia 76ers face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, they will be looking to get back on the right path following a loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday. The Sixers need a win in the worst way as they are now the No. 8 seed in the East as they have fallen into the play-in tournament.

    The challenge will be tall. The Sixers will be without Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George as well as possibly VJ Edgecombe who is dealing with a lumbar contusion. Without those three–possibly four–the challenge will already be tough. Throw in the fact that the Cavs now have a dynamic backcourt of James Harden and Donovan Mitchell, and the task gets tougher.
