EB Games Are Selling The 30th Anniversary Pokemon Sets At Double The MSRP

Press Start may receive a commission when you buy from links on our site at no extra cost to you.

The 30th Anniversary Pokemon TCG sets went live this morning on both EB Games and JB Hi-Fi, and not only were EB Games once again requiring EB World Plus membership, it was also charging double (or a little bit below in some cases), what JB Hi-Fi were charging and the MSRP.

This is true across the board, although the most glaring example is the ETB which is $199 at EB Games in comparison to $100 at JB Hi-Fi as well as the UPC which was a whopping $599 at EB Games and $360 at JB Hi-Fi, and then this is true across the board where it’s a 60-102% increase when buying at EB Games compared to JB Hi-Fi.

Those 'ugly' new Pokémon 30th anniversary cards look better than you think

Pokémon fans are excited about the upcoming 30th anniversary set, with the exception of two things. No one is looking forward to the scalper situation that will undoubtedly follow such a cool release. The other Wailord in the water is the new card type, Future rare. While some are embracing the chase cards' new chromatic look, others seem to hate the muted color scheme.

The Pokémon Company did give fans a sneak peek of what the Mew and Mewtwo Future rare cards would look like in a trailer. Close-ups of the cards also showed off their unique, ornate textures. The glimpses were brief, and the features were seemingly animated, however. New real-life footage showing someone holding several 30th anniversary cards gives a clearer look at their appearance.

Celebration for a Champion sculpture, plaza at OSU honor Jesse Owens

This year marks the 90-year anniversary of Jesse Owens’ remarkable feats of athleticism at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany.

Not only did Owens defeat the world’s best track athletes – resulting in four Olympic gold medals for the Ohio State University student – but in many ways his victory challenged white nationalism and the racist ideologies that Germany's Adolf Hitler used to build his Nazi regime, as well as the systemic racism plaguing 1930s America.

After Owens’ passing in March 1980, Ohio State sought to celebrate the alumni’s accomplishments. The south and north recreation centers were named after Owens.

But Ohio State had much bigger plans as well, commissioning a large commemorative sculpture as the focal point of the to-be-named Jesse Owens Memorial Plaza at the northern end of Ohio Stadium.
