Vietnam Education Boom Fuels Tourism Surge: Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi Lead 2026 Academic Travel Growth

Vietnam is leveraging a strategic education boom to drive high-value tourism, with international students and scholars significantly boosting the economies of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang in 2026.

Vietnam is currently witnessing a transformative shift in its visitor economy, where a surge in academic interest is acting as a primary catalyst for international tourism growth. By August 2026, major urban centers including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang have evolved into self-sustaining hubs for scholarly circuits and curriculum-based events, reducing the nation's reliance on traditional seasonal holiday trends. This strategic integration of academia and travel is providing Vietnam with a distinct competitive advantage in the Southeast Asian region, attracting millions who seek to combine cultural immersion with formal education.

There will be 24 surfers who will pit themselves against each other for the right to be crowned king.

Damian won the event 20 years ago. I had a quick chat with Damian, just after he had finished having a warm-up at the breakwall and he said he is excited for the event.

Shark Island Challenge brings elite bodyboarders to Cronulla this weekend

The Shark Island Challenge brings 24 of the world’s elite bodyboarders to Cronulla, Sydney this weekend for May 24-25, one of the most dangerous and prestigious invitational surfing events. Held at the iconic reef break off Point Park, the competition demands extreme skill and courage on waves that have tested the sport’s greatest athletes since 1997. This exclusive invitation-only event represents the pinnacle of competitive bodyboarding, where only the best riders qualify to challenge the notorious slab.

The Shark Island reef break sits just off the coast of Cronulla Point in southern Sydney, approximately 20 kilometers south of the city center. This particular section of coastline has established itself as the standard-bearer for elite bodyboarding competitions in the Southern Hemisphere. The wave earned its fearsome reputation through decades of intense swell encounters, powerful barrel sections, and the demanding technical skills required to navigate its critical sections.

‘Let’s do it’: Bryson DeChambeau challenges Tiger Woods to LIV vs. TGL match

Bryson DeChambeau wants to face off with Tiger Woods in a LIV vs. TGL grudge match.

The pro golf world is trying hard to make team golf happen. As evidenced first by the creation of LIV Golf and soon after TGL, top golfers and stakeholders in the game are betting that the future holds a place for golfers competing on fan-supported teams as with other pro sports. Bryson DeChambeau is chief among them.

However, with the big exception of the Ryder Cup, team golf events haven’t broken through the public’s consciousness as traditional individual stroke-play events have. Next week’s TGL finale, for example, will not draw the same audience as the 2026 Masters in April.
