    Nationals MP Sam Birrell asks the prime minister if he will rule out agreeing to the Greens demand to abolish the diesel fuel rebate, after his “dangerous deal” with the minor party on the tax changes.

    Anthony Albanese repeats previous lines, saying that he finds it strange the opposition say the legislation “is so terrible that they had to rule out any support for it before they’d even seen it”.

    'Ridiculous and disrespectful' inquiry into NDIS cuts extended

    The Senate committee scrutinising contentious proposed NDIS cuts has been given an extension after a deal between the government and Greens. 

    The inquiry received more than 4,000 public submissions in just over a fortnight and has heard grave concerns from across the disability sector.

    The inquiry will now report in mid-August, with the government standing by its approach as "the right package" for the NDIS.

    Disability advocates have welcomed a pause to a bill paving the way for the biggest-ever cuts to the NDIS, after a "ridiculous and disrespectful" Senate inquiry into the proposed overhaul of the scheme was given an eight-week extension.
