BBC Radio 2 DJ-backed charity had 'no signs' before liquidation collapse
A charity backed by the BBC Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox had no signs it would collapse into liquidation and shut down five months earlier, auditors have suggested.
The leading UK charity Auditory Verbal, based in Bicester, collapsed into liquidation on May 8, with a statement on its website saying no further operations are expected.
The 23-year-old charity aimed to ensure all deaf children have the same opportunities in life as people who can hear.
Ms Cox presented a BBC Lifeline appeal for the charity in 2018 and it was also visited by former Banbury MP Victoria Prentis.

'Tragedy' as leading UK charity collapses with £430K owed and jobs lost
THE COLLAPSE of a national charity supporting deaf children has been described as a âreal tragedyâ by a group carrying out similar work in Worcestershire.
Auditory Verbal UK (AVUK), which had been supported by BBC radio and TV presenter Sara Cox, went into liquidation on Friday with £430,000 owed and jobs lost.
The charity, which strove to ensure all deaf children have the same opportunities in life as their peers, said it was no longer possible to âoperate sustainablyâ.
The financial pressures faced by the organisation are far from unique, according to Midlands-based Action Deafness, which is active across Worcestershire and other parts of the UK.
