The Craig McRae coaching masterclass that inspired a stunning Magpies comeback victory

Magpies coach Craig McRae has paid tribute to his side’s spirit and ability to ride their momentum.

He also said the side’s younger players were stepping up, and he hoped to bring youngster Sam Swadling back into the side next week after managing him this week.

“Certain things travel with you, and one of them is our spirit,” McRae told Kayo Sports post-game.

“We probably showed the footy world that we play for each other when we were on the Gold Coast and Bruzzy [Brayden Maynard] was involved in that incident.

Crows coach Matthew Nicks was hurting post-game, both about the 10-goal turnaround that saw his side lose to Collingwood tonight, and the way some Crows fans chose to boo Isaac Quaynor.

Magpies surge into top-six mix with Adelaide ambush

COLLINGWOOD has spoiled Taylor Walker's party, defeating the Crows by 34 points at Adelaide Oval to claim its biggest scalp of the season.

Forced to withstand Adelaide's excellent early pressure, the Magpies did just that, booting 10 second-half goals to four to run out 16.12 (108) to 11.8 (74) winners on Thursday night.

Both sides had their moments in a hard-fought first term which was highlighted by Walker slotting goal No.700 of his illustrious career.

But he didn't remain on 700 for long, bringing up his second and third of the night either side of quarter-time as the Crows got out to a 27-point lead.

Watch all the highlights from the Pies' 34-point win in its Round 20 clash with Adelaide.

More Michigan coaching candidates emerge as transfer portal opening nears

Michigan's search for a new head football coach continues, two weeks after Sherrone Moore was fired.

Names are being floated publicly by agents; the search firm, TurnkeyZRG, is vetting candidates and presenting them to Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel; and the direction of this process still remains muddy.

Manuel and those working on the search for a new head coach have kept a tight lid on leaks, but there are a few known pieces to this puzzle. For one, interim head coach Biff Poggi told reporters on Monday that Manuel informed the players he wants to “have something done by the bowl game.” Michigan plays Texas in the Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31 in Orlando.

Michigan coaching search: Todd Monken emerges as candidate

Michigan Wolverines football is two weeks into its search for its 22nd head coach, following the firing of Sherrone Moore. A new name has emerged Wednesday, with Football Scoop reporting that Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken is being vetted and expected to have conversations with U-M.

“Multiple sources, at both the collegiate and NFL levels, shared with FootballScoop Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night that Michigan had begun vetting current Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken and intended to speak this week with Monken,” the site’s John Brice and Doug Samuels wrote.

Football Scoop reported that Michigan and Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm have conducted “preliminary talks” while he’s been vetted as a candidate. Additionally, following a 27-22 win over Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl Tuesday afternoon, Brohm was set to spend an extra 24-48 hours in Florida, giving “more than enough time for Michigan officials to conduct more conversations with Brohm, as sources noted to FootballScoop.”

NFL offensive coordinator Todd Monken on Michigan coaching radar

The Michigan football coaching search in the aftermath of the Sherrone Moore firing has been nothing short of a soap opera, at least in terms of fan reaction, conspiracies, and who may or may not take the job.

On Tuesday, all of the scuttlebutt surrounded Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm, with a large swath of the maize and blue faithful having consternation despite his ability to elevate teams. But given that he elevated them from bad to middling, it stands to reason why it's not an awe-inspiring hire.

But Wednesday's name on the list may be closer to generating fan excitement.
