Who wins & why? Tips & predictions for Round 6, 2026

Round 6 is here as we enter a big weekend of footy.

In the wake of Gather Round, things kick off with perhaps the biggest rivalry in footy, with the Blues and Magpies meeting in Nick Daicos' 100th game.

Friday has an intriguing double-header as four strong sides take to the field, while the loser of Crows v Saints on Saturday night will also be a huge talking point.

We also celebrate superstar Lachie Neale and Cats great Mark Blicavs who reach 300 AFL games this weekend.

Carlton’s start to the year could hardly have been worse for Michael Voss. 1-4 through their first five, the Blues could easily have started without a win if not for a desperate four-point win over the lowly Tigers.

Nick Riewoldt says Collingwood should rest Scott Pendlebury for either Anzac Day or Hawthorn clash ahead of games record

St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt says Collingwood shouldn’t let emotion get in the way of pragmatism as they manage Scott Pendlebury to the VFL/AFL games record.

Pendlebury is set to break the all-time games record in Round 8 when Collingwood faces Hawthorn at the MCG, five days after he draws level with Brent Harvey’s mark of 432 on Anzac Day against Essendon — provided he doesn’t get injured or rested before then.

WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Should Collingwood rest Scott Pendlebury for Anzac Day?

Riewoldt says the Pies shouldn’t let the 38-year-old play both games in short succession, regardless of the unique Anzac Day stage.

Collingwood will challenge Scott Pendlebury's one-match suspension at the AFL tribunal.

The Sydney Swans will be without injured star Errol Gulden for four months.

Rowan Marshall is confident his ruck partnership with Tom De Koning will blossom at St Kilda.

Collingwood will contest Scott Pendlebury's one-match suspension at the AFL tribunal, as the veteran midfielder faces a ban for the first time in his 427-match career.

Pendlebury was charged with rough conduct following an incident involving Adelaide's Josh Worrell during the Crows' 14-point win at the MCG on Saturday night.

The only surprising thing about Sam Docherty’s potty-mouthed tirade about the f—ing Blues was that he didn’t f—ing swear more. F— it.

The least surprising bit was that his mate, former Blue and podcaster Dan Gorringe, thought: “this is gold, I’m going to run it.” It should be surprising that Gorringe put the tirade to air. But it isn’t.

Hailing from Queensland and a member of the Brisbane Lions Academy, Prindable was the first player selected by Collingwood.

The left footer played three games at the National Championship level for the Allies, averaging 19 disposals and 5.7 tackles.

AFL Draft: Collingwood swoop on West Perth midfielder Sam Swadling at pick 37

Collingwood have swooped on West Perth midfielder Sam Swadling with the first pick of the third round in the AFL Draft.

After no WA prospects were taken in the second round following the selection of Jacob Farrow by Essendon in the first round on Wednesday, Swadling ensured WA had some instant representation in the third round by being selected at pick No.37.

Swadling is close friends with fellow Falcons product Farrow, who was the only West Australian selected in the first round of the draft on Wednesday, going to Essendon at pick 10.

A hugely prolific midfielder, the noted ball-winner averaged a remarkable 35 disposals per game at WAFL colts level while also notching more than 20 touches in two of his three appearances at league level.

    ‘Banger’ drafted by Collingwood

FORMER Sawtell/Toormina player Angus Anderson has created AFL North Coast history by becoming the first male player from the region to be drafted onto the primary list of an AFL club.

The 22 year-old was selected with Pick 57 in the 2025 AFL National Draft by Collingwood.

Collingwood’s National Recruiting Manager Shane O’Bree said Anderson showed traits which made him attractive to the Magpies.

“When you watch Angus play football, there is a lot of heart in his game,” O’Bree said.

Anderson’s journey toward this moment has been one of perseverance.

He played his junior football with the Saints as well as his first foray into the seniors playing representative football with the North Coast Force, a member of the Northern Heat Development Program and QBE Sydney Swans Academy.
