Zuckerberg lied about concern for child safety, Meta whistleblower testifies at landmark trial

Arturo Béjar, former Meta safety engineer, tells jury tech company was aware of products’ potential harm to children

Meta has taken a “don’t ask, don’t tell” strategy when it comes to the safety of children on its social media platforms, according to a whistleblower who testified during a landmark trial against the company on Tuesday. He is slated to continue his testimony on Wednesday.

Arturo Béjar, a former Meta safety engineer, told the jury that the company was aware of the harm its products caused children, which included its recommendations pushing content from sexual predators and violent and graphic images. He said he repeatedly raised the issue to various Facebook and Instagram executives but that they did little to resolve it.

Why Are 29 US States Taking Meta To Court? – Behind The News

META COURTWell, Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook is being taken to court by 29 US states. Whether it's endless reels, constant notifications, autoplay videos, or an algorithm you've built brick by brick, experts are saying that lots of kids around the world are finding themselves glued to Facebook and Instagram, and over in the US, parents aren't very happy about it. So much so that 29 US states, led by New Jersey, California, Kentucky, and Colorado, are going head to head with Meta in California's Federal Court, alleging the company deliberately designed its platforms to hook young people and wasn't up-front about the risks. But Meta disagrees. The company's lawyer says that while some people can have problems with how much they use social media, that doesn't necessarily mean they're addicted to it, and a spokesperson for the company stood by its efforts to create stronger protections for teens. If the judge finds Meta guilty, it may have to make some changes to its platforms. And it could be forced to cough up $282 billion AUD! But with the trial expected to last around six weeks, we've got a bit of waiting to do before we know the outcome.

Liam Ryan: St Kilda forward cops brutal injury blow in first game against old side West Coast Eagles

Liam Ryan’s first clash against the club he won a premiership with didn’t all go to plan, with the high-flying forward temporarily grounded after a collision with Reuben Ginbey.

Ryan was leading up to the wing for an attempted mark on the lead during the second term of Sunday’s clash against West Coast, but ran into Ginbey, who had been looking to go back with the flight.

The Saints forward was in immediate pain after Ginbey’s knee made contact with what appeared to be his hip. He was helped from the ground, with the Eagles defender showing great care to wander over and offer a pat and well wishes for his former teammate.

Sam Darcy has left the field after collapsing on a lead, and is taken straight to the rooms

THE WESTERN Bulldogs are nervously waiting on further assessment of Sam Darcy's left knee after the star forward limped off the field early in the clash with Geelong.

Darcy attempted to change direction in the forward pocket during the second quarter at GMHBA Stadium on Friday night, and immediately fell to the ground holding the knee.

The 22-year-old lay on the turf for a few moments and was helped to his feet by trainers before walking off the ground under his own steam.

Western Bulldogs star Sam Darcy has suffered a knee injury at GMHBA Stadium against the Cats in a devastating blow to the club’s premiership hopes.

The giant forward fell to the ground clutching his left knee as he led out towards the ball during the second quarter. He didn’t make contact with anyone else in the process.

Bulldogs football manager Matthew Egan told Fox Footy at half-time that they would wait for scans on Saturday before declaring the extent of the injury.

“The mechanism didn’t look great, but we just can’t confirm everything,” Egan said.

Don't Cry Over Spilt "Milk": Key Takeaways From The Oatly Supreme Court Trade Mark Ruling

On 11 February 2026, the Supreme Court found in favour of Dairy UK Limited (“Dairy UK”), concluding its lengthy dispute with Oatly AB (“Oatly”) concerning the registration and use of Oatly's trade mark POST MILK GENERATION.

Oatly obtained a UK trade mark registration for POST MILK GENERATION in April 2021, covering oat-based food and drink goods in Classes 29, 30 and 32, and t-shirts in Class 25.

In November 2021, the trade association for the UK dairy industry, Dairy UK, sought to invalidate the registration on the basis that the mark was a) deceptive and b) prohibited under EU Regulation 1308/2013 establishing a common organisation of the markets in agricultural products (“the Regulation”), which, inter alia, regulates the use of dairy terms such as milk, cheese and butter.

Exclusive interview: ‘Oatly decision is an aid to brands, not a challenge’

Fresh from representing Dairy UK in its trademark victory against oat drink brand Oatly, DWF’s Asima Rana tells Muireann Bolger why this ‘polarising’ case brings clarity, not confusion, for brands.

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Harris is dealing with a left hip sprain.

Pistons' Tobias Harris: Won't return Tuesday

Harris has been ruled out for the rest of Tuesday's game against the Lakers due to a left hip sprain.

Harris limped to the locker room during the first quarter of Tuesday's game, and after being evaluated by medical staff, it was determined that his injury was severe enough for him to be held out for the rest of the contest. Ronald Holland, Javonte Green and Isaiah Stewart are in line for more minutes for the rest of Tuesday's game in Harris' absence.
