Crash leaves former teacher quadriplegic, family fights healthcare barriers

A routine morning bike ride turned into a nightmare for the McDonough family outside their Riverside home.

On February 5, 2026, Warren McDonough, 70, a beloved former physical education teacher at Prospect, Campbell Town, Kings Meadows, Lilydale and Exeter high schools, and an avid cyclist, fell from his bicycle after striking a pothole. The crash resulted in Mr McDonough breaking his neck, triggering a cardiac arrest and leaving him quadriplegic.

Warren's wife, Debbie McDonough, recalled that she had started riding downhill when she heard an almighty crunch behind her.

"It was horrible," she said. "I heard the crash; the shock was terrible. Warren was lying on the road surface, gasping for breath. He looked like he was dead. He had no pulse. He was blue."

Warren McDonough paralysed by pothole cycling crash fights to get home

A retired Tasmanian teacher who spent 42 years educating children across northern Tasmania is fighting to return home after a cycling accident left him paralysed and dependent on a ventilator to breathe.

Warren McDonough, 70, broke his neck on February 5 when his front wheel struck a pothole while he was cycling downhill near his Launceston home.

He suffered a C1 spinal injury, leaving him without movement in his limbs and unable to breathe without assistance.

His wife, Deborah McDonough, was cycling with him when the accident happened.

“Then I looked at him and he didn’t have a front wheel and he was coming in to crash into me,” she told Pulse.

A much‑loved Tasmanian teacher and grandfather is fighting to return to his house after a catastrophic cycling accident left him dependent on a ventilator and a quadriplegic.

He suffered a broken neck and a spinal cord injury leaving him a quadriplegic and requiring 24/7 care.

Brooklyn Park plane crash: Second victim ID'd by medical examiner

Federal investigators are now on the ground in Brooklyn Park after a deadly plane crash that left two people dead and a community searching for answers. FOX 9's Leon Purvis has the story.

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (FOX 9) – The other victim killed in the Brooklyn Park plane crash has now been identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified Joseph R. Cass, 73, and Elizabeth Anne Conmy, 67, as the two victims who died Saturday in Brooklyn Park.

FAA records released Monday also show the plane that crashed on Saturday was registered in Cass' name.

Rep. Liz Conmy was a North Dakota state legislator who was serving her first term in the North Dakota Assembly out of Fargo. Conmy earned a postgraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas and worked for Minnesota State University-Moorhead.

On Saturday morning, residents in Brooklyn Park were startled when an airplane crashed into a park.

A Beechcraft single-engine plane was seen crashing into the ground and then bursting into flames in seconds.

Daren Wichman knew something was very wrong when he heard what he thought was a plane in distress.

“Such a fire that there’s no way you’re going to save anybody,” recalled Wichman, who lives nearby.

Wichman says he heard what sounded like the aircraft’s engine cutting in and out — and ran over to Southbrook Park to find the downed plane in flames.

“So, heard a crunching noise, came around the house, looked up and saw a big orange ball, and then a big mushroom black cloud,” he explains.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (KUTV) — A St. George police officer was issued a citation after crashing a vehicle while on duty.

The crash happened April 6 at 12:30 a.m. in the area of 2200 East.

"I heard the loud crash and it kind of sounded like thunder almost," homeowner Mikettalyn Ipson said.

According to the St. George Police Department, the officer “failed to maintain his lane of travel, leaving the roadway.”

"I know the city will come take care of it and I'm just glad that he's okay and everything's gonna be cleaned up, taken care of," Ipson said.

St. George police officer falls asleep while driving patrol car, hits tree

ST. GEORGE, Utah — A St. George police officer fell asleep while driving his patrol car early Monday morning, causing him to veer off the road and hit a tree.

The St. George Police Department said the unnamed officer was on duty at approximately 12:30 a.m. when he "failed to maintain his lane of travel" in the area of 2200 East and crashed into city-owned property.

The officer dozed off behind the wheel, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, and went over a curb before striking a tree and some bushes that stopped the patrol car.

Because the incident involved a St. George officer, the police department handed over the investigation to the sheriff's office.
